"Why did you co alone?" Kyle Kinston frowned, feeling that right now, she had a pale complexion, her lips devoid of color, and her clothes were sowhat thin, as if a strong wind could blow her away.
He took one of his sweaters and draped it over her shoulders, "Why didn’t you wear sothing warr?"
She pressed her lips together, her eyelashes trembling slightly, then slowly lifted her gaze, those dark almond eyes fixedly staring at him. Her gaze made him inexplicably uneasy, as if she were looking at a stranger, so distant and... indifferent.
"Have you co to tell you’ve made your choice?" Under her gaze, he turned his head awkwardly.
"Mmm." She responded. Although they hadn’t seen each other for a few hours, she felt as if they had been apart for an exceedingly long ti. Earlier in the ward, it was as if she’d cried all the tears she had in this lifeti. "I can agree to your request, as long as you save Uncle. Once Uncle’s surgery is over, regardless of its success, I will abort this child."
She thought it would be difficult to say these words, but in fact, they ca out quite calmly.
Was the pain so overwhelming that she’d beco numb, allowing her to remain calm?
Kyle’s frown deepened. Her quietness only made him more uneasy. "Mabel, are you blaming ?"
"Even if I bla you, you would still want to make this choice, wouldn’t you?" she retorted.
He remained silent. She was right; even if she blad him, he still wanted her to abort the child.
"So, does it matter whether I bla you or not?" she laughed self-deprecatingly, feeling an indescribable sensation in her heart.
She didn’t even know, once this child was gone, where their relationship would head. Could they go back to how things were before? Could they return to the sweet warmth they once shared?
She thought she understood him, thought their love was the sa, but perhaps it wasn’t at all like that.
"Mabel, I..." He seed to want to say sothing, but she interrupted him, "Alright, Uncle’s situation is very serious, ti can’t be wasted. I’ve agreed to your request to abort this child, so you should hurry and call the doctor to get them to J City as soon as possible."
Kyle took out his phone, dialed a number, and conversed in English with the other party.
Although Mabel’s English was only at an average level, she could sowhat grasp the gist of the conversation and understood that Kyle had confird the arrival ti in J City for the next morning.
Mabel breathed a sigh of relief, if Uncle could be saved... then it was worth it.
"Tomorrow morning, the doctor and his team will arrive at J City’s airport. I will send soone to pick them up and take them to the Hospital. I’ll also make arrangents over there." Kyle said after ending the call.
"Thank you." she replied, polite and distant.
"You don’t need to say thank you to ." He felt an inexplicable irritation rising from his chest. She had clearly agreed to his request; he should feel relieved and happy, but why did it feel so terrible?
