Mabel Quinn was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. If Kyle really saw her, then the six years she spent hiding, her efforts to sever the past, and Ivy...
The footsteps were drawing closer, each step making her shiver.
Gritting her teeth, she decided to take a gamble and picked up the small dicine bottle, gently rolling it to the other side. In an instant, the bottle rolled out from the sofa area.
At this mont, she could only bet on Kyle’s ailnt acting up. Perhaps he desperately needed the dication in the bottle and wouldn’t even question why the bottle rolled away.
If he went to pick up the dicine, then he wouldn’t co this way, and she could avoid a confrontation as long as she found a way to evade him after he left the conference room.
This was the only solution she could think of at the mont.
In her heart, she began to pray for him to hurry and pick up the dicine bottle, or maybe she could find an opportunity to sneak out of the conference room.
When the bottle rolled out, the footsteps indeed paused, and Mabel’s body tensed even further.
But imdiately afterward, the footsteps resud, even more urgent and even closer to her.

It was Kyle Kinston’s eyes!
In those dark phoenix eyes were pain, struggle, repression, and most strikingly... surprise! As if he had witnessed sothing inconceivable.
She almost reflexively sprang up, without saying a word, and dashed toward the conference room door, her mind turned into a blank void, her body instinctively wanting to flee, to escape from his sight.
But before her hand could touch the conference room door handle, her body was pulled back by another force, and within an instant, she was swept into a broad embrace.
He held her tightly, all her struggles dissipating against his strength. His hurried breaths echoed in her ears, and his scent filled her nostrils.
"It’s you... It really is you... I can’t believe it’s you..." a hoarse voice murmured constantly.
Mabel felt her heart sinking deeper. After all these years, had he really found her? What would happen between them this ti? How would he treat Ivy?
The scenes from six years ago flashed through her mind, once believing that since the world thought she was dead, it was better to bury that identity and remain distant and unconnected from him afterward.
But now...
"It’s really you..." Kyle Kinston’s voice reached her ears once more, and, unlike the hoarse pain from before, his voice seed normalized now.
Mabel shivered, snapping back to reality from her daze, "Kyle Kinston, let go!" she shouted.
