Even though Caleb prided himself on being clever, he couldn’t fathom how things had developed to this point. Why was Elder Kinston starting to recite a story?
anwhile, Kyle Kinston was reading out loud and simultaneously writing on paper, instructing Caleb to check on Mabel Quinn’s whereabouts. Caleb sighed; what a situation this was!

Mabel Quinn was still sipping beer, listening to Kyle Kinston’s storytelling in her ears. There was no denying that Kyle’s voice was a pleasant male baritone, cold in quality yet clear, elegant, and with a touch of nobility. Even as he recited the story, his tone remained steady, like a gentleman’s calm, though within that calmness, there was a hint of gentleness.
Mabel found herself surprisingly fond of hearing Kyle’s voice. Perhaps, if Kyle chose to beco a voice actor soday, he might even gain so fa.
A woman drinking alone in a pub will naturally attract attention over ti. Mabel felt she had drunk enough; at this mont, she was a bit muddled, and if she continued drinking, she might truly pass out in the pub. So she wobbled to her feet, planning to leave.
But just as she stood up from her seat, two young n surrounded her.
"Drinking alone? How about we join you?"
"Yeah, it’s more fun to drink in a group!"
Although Mabel was drunk, her senses were still with her, and she naturally detected the malintent of these two. So she avoided their reaching hands, "You... go away, I need to go ho."
"Why go back? Since you’re here, drink a little more," one said, exchanging a glance with the other. Together, they pressed Mabel back into her seat, and one of them even snatched the phone from her hand, glanced at the ongoing call, and ended it, shutting off the phone imdiately.
"Let go... I... I want to go ho..." Mabel instinctively sensed danger and wanted to leave.
But at this mont, there was no way those two n would let her go.
The pub was noisy, and nobody seed to notice what was happening. Even if soone did, they would likely assu it was just a typical squabble between a man and a woman.
Mabel realized that while her mind remained sowhat clear, her limbs refused to follow her commands. Several attempts to break free from the youths’ entanglents failed. Worse, the alcohol’s effects were gaining strength, and her clarity might not last.
She regretted going to the pub alone without anticipating what could go wrong.
"I... I have a boyfriend... he’ll... he’ll be here soon, so leave alone, I’m... I’m just waiting here for him..." she bluffed, hoping they would leave.
However, the two n chuckled, "A boyfriend, huh? Where is he? How about this, we’ll get a bit cozy and see if your boyfriend shows up."
After saying that, one of the n moved in, trying to lay hands on Mabel.
Just then, several n in uniform charged into the pub, and the music that filled the pub almost instantly stopped.
