Mabel Quinn returned to the Kinston Residence, and Kyle Kinston had not co back yet. Mabel just put down her bag in her room and washed her face when her phone rang.
She picked up the phone, and Alice Conley’s voice ca through, "Mabel, are you free this weekend?"
"I should be free unless there’s so overti work from Morningstar. Why do you ask?" Mabel thought for a mont and said.
"Then this weekend, why don’t we..." Alice’s words were interrupted by the sound of the room door being pushed open.
Mabel looked up and saw Kyle Kinston striding towards her from the doorway. His face looked rather grim and a bit pale, his thin lips tightly pressed, and his phoenix eyes seed to be deliberately suppressing sothing.
Before Mabel could react, Kyle had already walked up to her and embraced her tightly.
"Ah!" she exclaid softly, and the phone in her hand slipped and fell to the ground.
Mabel wanted to pick up her phone, but Kyle was holding her so tightly that he wouldn’t let go at all.
"Kyle, let pick up the phone first." Mabel said.
But he acted as if he hadn’t heard her, still holding her tightly, the strength was so intense that her bones were starting to ache slightly. Moreover, she could feel his hands trembling slightly.
Trembling?!
Mabel was startled, and even if she hadn’t noticed at first, she now sensed a bit of his abnormality.
Thus, she stopped moving and stood obediently, allowing him to hold her like that.
His head was buried in the crook of her neck, his breath transitioning from heavy to normal, and the slightly trembling hands gradually stopped shaking.
After a while, Mabel felt the pressure of his embrace lessen just a bit, no longer squeezing her bones painfully, though he still didn’t let go.
"What’s wrong? Were you feeling unwell just now?" she recalled he had once ntioned a chronic condition.
"Mm." Kyle responded lowly. Earlier, on his way back to the residence, a familiar pain suddenly spread through his body, a sign of... Full Moon pain.
In the days before the Full Moon, it would appear without warning, yet it also served as a reminder of the Full Moon’s approach.
"Is it better now...?" she asked again.
"Mm." He answered softly once more. As his body was overwheld by pain, the mont he held her, the pain began to recede like a retreating tide.
No kind of painkiller could curb this pain, but holding her could easily dispel it.
Without any scientific explanation, it was such an extraordinary phenonon.
"It hurt a lot," he murmured.
"What?"
"It hurt a lot just now, but holding you, it doesn’t hurt anymore." He was telling the truth, but she thought he was rely jesting.
"I’m not so sort of Elixir; how could holding make the pain go away? Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?" she asked with concern.
He slowly straightened up, looked down at her, "No need, I know my body well, and—" his voice paused, "if you were the Elixir for , would you be willing to be my ’dicine’? To be my ’dicine’ for a lifeti?"
