"If you ever want to eat fish again, I’ll make it for you." She said, her face unable to hide a trace of worry.
He looked at her and smiled slightly, "Don’t worry, it’s all in the past now, and I won’t wallow in self-pity anymore." Because he had t her, the heavens hadn’t truly abandoned him; after giving him despair, they also gave him hope.
Mabel Quinn finally felt at ease as Kyle Kinston washed the fish clean, then washed his own hands. Watching her still busy, a gentle light couldn’t help but flash in his eyes.
In the future, everything will be different. He is no longer the abused child, wandering and holess, unsure of when he could earn a pointless glance from his mother; nor is he the youth who didn’t know the aning of life, feeling indifferent to life or death, living just a hopeless wait. Now, he has the desire to live and soone he truly wants to have. Is this the true aning of life for the Kinston Family?
"Mabel." His hands gently wrapped around her waist. He leaned forward and lowered his head to whisper her na softly by her ear, his nose inhaling her fragrance, intoxicating and delightful.
And it made her equally infatuated.
"Hmm?" She asked nasally while stirring the pot of soup with a spoon.
"Will you marry ?" His voice ca low, tinged with a subtle, heart-stirring charm.
Clang!
The spoon in her hand fell into the pot, leaving her completely stunned.
What did she hear? Was he proposing to her? Or did she hear wrong? Everything felt so unreal. Mabel Quinn stood there dazed until the pot almost boiled over, prompting her to quickly turn off the heat. Then she turned to Kyle Kinston, stamring, "Just now... what did you say?"
The corners of his lips curled into a faint smile, "I said, let’s get married, will you?"
Mabel widened her eyes. She hadn’t heard wrong; he was—"Is this... a proposal?" She was sowhat bewildered, unable to quite process it.
"Yes, a proposal." He nodded.
Okay, he really was proposing to her! She continued to stare at him with wide eyes. They loved each other and had lived together for a while, so getting married seed quite logical.
But... marrying Kyle Kinston, marrying this man who holds significant power in the country, even a man who, six months ago, was rely soone she could only see on a screen, beyond reach.
Mabel stared at Kyle Kinston blankly, her mind continuously filled with mories of them together.
"Don’t want to?" Her daze made his eyebrows furrow slightly, and then, like recalling sothing, he said, "Oh, you think it’s not solemn enough, don’t you?"
Suddenly, he lowered his body, kneeling on one knee in front of her.
She was completely taken aback, her almond eyes suddenly widening even more.
He lifted his chin, gazing up at her, "I, Kyle Kinston, solemnly propose to Miss Mabel Quinn. In this life, I will love only you, protecting you with my life, never leaving or abandoning you!"
She stood there in a daze as a warm current surged from her chest to her eyes.
This man is willing to love her with his life; what more could she ask for? In a lifeti, finding such a person already makes it all worthwhile.
