Mabel Quinn wondered suspiciously, and then she found the nas of Easton Kinston and Regina Zeller among the tablets.
These are... Kyle’s parents!
Their tablets are also here, but as far as she knew, Kyle’s parents never officially got married, and until he was nine, Kyle used his mother’s surna.
This entire hall full of tablets was unsettling, and when Mabel Quinn walked further into the inner hall, she suddenly widened her eyes.
This inner hall felt like stepping into a museum, with aged artifacts displayed in glass cabinets. Each item was labeled with the na of a Kinston, and Mabel guessed that these were left behind by mbers of the Kinston family.
These items included calligraphy, paintings, treasures, vessels, and also armors... In short, a wide variety.
Only a family like the Kinston Family could accumulate so many antiquities. So of the items here, at a glance, were rare treasures that could easily sell for billions on the market, while others looked so cheap that they wouldn’t be worth anything if not for their age.
For instance, a very simple handkerchief, discolored with age, had only a single "Yun" character embroidered in a corner. There was nothing else, just a square piece of cloth with nurous stains, dark brown in color... This inexplicably made Mabel think of blood.
Unknowingly, Mabel had looked at many items, until she paused in front of a painting. The painting depicted a young girl in traditional attire with bright eyes and white teeth; her every expression vividly captured on the paper. At her feet lay an emperor’s crown, which startled Mabel. The emperor’s crown was an ancient symbol of sovereign power; who would dare paint such a picture, as if placing the empire under a woman’s feet?
However, what alard her most was the text on the right side of the painting: A lifeti, burdened by love, gaining the world but not him. If he wanted this world, let him have it. In this life, give up, give up, give up. In the next life, rest, rest, rest.
The three "give up" and three "rest" words inexplicably saddened Mabel, and the small plaque in front of the painting was labeled with the na Florence Kinston.
Florence Kinston, male or female? After all, the na is quite neutral. From those words, it seed more like sothing a woman would write. But... a woman gaining the world? In her historical knowledge, no woman nad Florence Kinston ever gained the world! And the person in the painting, who are they? Is it Florence Kinston?
Mabel was speculating when suddenly, a figure rushed into the Ancestral Hall, and turning at the sound, she saw Kyle Kinston burst into the hall.
His breathing was sowhat unsteady, gasping for air, suggesting he had hurried over. A rare trace of anxiety showed on his face, which was pale under the natural light of the hall.
"How did you get in here?" he inquired urgently.
"I noticed this Ancestral Hall while I was walking and accidentally wandered in," she bit her lip and said, "Sorry, I know this place isn’t supposed to be casually entered, but... sohow I just..."
She was at a loss for how to continue explaining. Normally, she would have asked him and only co in with his permission, but when standing at the hall’s entrance earlier, the feeling was so mystical that she unknowingly walked in.
