"If he really wakes up and returns to normal consciousness, he probably won’t want to see . If he still has the mindset of a 5 or 6-year-old, then maybe taking more dicine will help reduce the fever completely," Mabel Quinn said, picking up the bag she brought with her. She gave Dorian Howards a slight nod and then left the room on her own.
Dorian Howards quickly chased after her. "Mabel, have you ever thought that Kyle getting caught in the rain and getting a fever this ti might be because of you?"
Mabel’s footsteps paused slightly, and she quietly said, "We’ve already broken up." So whether it is or isn’t the reason, she doesn’t want to know.
But Dorian continued, "I’ve never seen Kyle look so conflicted. It’s not that he doesn’t love you; he’s just afraid of loving you too much, leading to too much pain."
Mabel stopped and turned to look at Dorian, "I don’t understand what you an by that, but I know that day, after he said we broke up, I went to find him, and he told he could love or not love . At that ti, he had no feelings for at all."
The cold and emotionless kiss is still etched in her mory. Every word from that ti felt like a dagger, cutting her so deeply it hurt.
"It’s impossible, there’s no way Kyle doesn’t have feelings for you. You are his..." Dorian almost blurted out, but barely managed to stop the words "soulmate" from escaping his throat.
"What is it?" Mabel looked at Dorian in confusion.
Dorian replied sowhat awkwardly, "You’re the only person he’s ever been with, his only girlfriend. Before you, he was never like this with any other woman."
Mabel gave a self-deprecating smile, "Everything has a first ti, and in the future, I won’t be the only one."
Just as Mabel was about to lift her foot again, suddenly, the sound of rapid footsteps arose. A figure quickly ran towards them and then tightly pulled Mabel into an embrace.
"Sister! As soon as I woke up, you weren’t there. Does Sister not like anymore?" His voice sounded so tense and uneasy.
Hearing this, Mabel imdiately knew that Kyle’s fever hadn’t completely subsided, and his consciousness was still that of a 5 or 6-year-old child.
"You’re awake, huh? Sister doesn’t... dislike you. It’s just getting late, Sister has to go ho," she said.
His tightly embracing hands finally loosened a bit, and he looked down at her, "But didn’t Sister used to stay with at night too?"
Mabel’s eyes dimd involuntarily, "That was the past; things are different now."
"What’s different about it?" he asked in confusion.
She didn’t know how to explain, so she could only say, "Alright, you be good and stay here. I’ll... co see you tomorrow." Maybe she won’t even need to co tomorrow since by then, he might have returned to his normal self.
Mabel wanted to free herself from Kyle’s embrace, but his arms held her so tightly that she couldn’t break free.
"Kyle, be good, and let go of , okay?" she coaxed him as if soothing a child.
"No," he said with a sullen face, "If Sister is going ho, then I’ll go ho with Sister. I want to be with Sister."
