Mabel Quinn opened the door and entered the room, and Kyle Kinston followed her inside, unsurprisingly.
"What do you want this ti? Don’t tell you haven’t had dinner and want to eat again?" Mabel asked.
Unexpectedly, Kyle actually responded with a "Hmm."
"This isn’t a restaurant, you know. Are you planning to co here every day for dinner?" she said.
He replied casually, "I do have that plan, but if there’s sothing at the Corporation, I won’t co for dinner."
She was rendered speechless, and after a while, she said, "Kyle Kinston, what’s the point of coming to like this? I won’t fall in love with you again; we can’t go back to the past. You initiated the breakup, and I accepted it. So as you said, from now on, you’re you, and I’m . Isn’t that great?"
He pursed his lips tightly. Once, he thought that would be good too, but actually, it wasn’t.
After a long pause, he murmured, "I shouldn’t have broken up with you."
Her body stiffened suddenly. If they hadn’t broken up, by now they should have been married, right? She would’ve been happily his bride, loving him with all her heart...
Yet now all of that was like an illusion, never to return.
"Kyle, you—" Her words had just begun when her phone suddenly rang, the screen displaying the na "Daniel Harris."
Mabel pressed the answer button, and upon seeing the na, Kyle’s expression subtly changed.
"Mabel, are you ho now?" Daniel’s voice ca from the phone.
"Ah, yes." Mabel replied, "Is there sothing you need?"
"It’s like this, I saw so rare screenwriting books at the bookstore earlier. I rember you ntioned them back at Morningstar, so I bought them for you," Daniel said.
"Really, well...thank you so much. How much were they? I’ll pay you back," she said.
"It’s just a few books, not a lot of money. I’m already at your complex, I’ll be there soon." Daniel said before hanging up.
Mabel put away her phone, but was suddenly surprised by Kyle’s voice, "So, Daniel is coming over?"
"Ah?!" She suddenly rembered there was still Kyle in the room.
Oh, heaven, if Daniel cos, won’t he run into Kyle? That scene... Just thinking about it gave her an indescribably complicated feeling.
"He’s coming over, could you leave first?" she said.
He raised his eyebrows and stared at her with a half-smile, "Why should I want to leave?"
"..." For goodness’ sake, this is supposed to be her place, yet it felt like he was more of a master than she was!
As she was thinking this, the doorbell suddenly rang. Mabel was startled and almost reflexively tried to pull Kyle away, but Kyle remained motionless, lazily watching her. "What, do you feel embarrassed having here? Or is there really sothing between you and Daniel, and you’re afraid he’ll misunderstand with here?"
Mabel decided to just go for it. Anyway, it was already like this, and it couldn’t get worse!
