"Oh, I already told them yesterday," Alice Conley said.
Mabel Quinn was dumbfounded, "You told them?!" That was fast-paced.
"Yeah, I figured, better to get it over with sooner rather than later. Besides, I’m pregnant now; it’s not like they can hit or make kneel on a washboard," Alice said.
Mabel felt a bit speechless, looking up to the sky.
"And then, what was your parents’ reaction?" Mabel asked.
Thinking about the scene at ho last night, Alice actually didn’t quite know how to describe it. When she knocked on her parents’ door and entered their room, they were lying in bed watching TV.
She, like a primary school student reporting, braced herself and said, "Mom, Dad, I’m pregnant."
The result was her mom spilled water all over the quilt, and her dad rolled off the bed.
"You... what did you say? Pregnant? Who’s pregnant?" her mom asked, ignoring the quilt, and ran off the bed to question her.
"I’m pregnant. Yep, four weeks along. If nothing major happens, you should be able to hold your grandson in about eight months," she said.
Her dad finally managed to get up from the floor and almost roared, asking her who the father was and if it was Dorian Howards.
"Sort of," she replied.
"What do you an sort of? Did that guy just take advantage of you and leave? He clearly just wanted to play with you. Fine, I’ll settle the score with him!" Her father was furious, almost running out the door in his underwear and carrying a stick.
Alice felt the need to clarify, "Um, strictly speaking, it was your daughter who took advantage of him and then dumped him. Basically, I played him."
Then, her parents were petrified, clueless as to what their daughter was talking about.
After a long while, her mother finally caught her breath and said, "Then you’d better make up with Dorian. You’re pregnant now; do you really want to be a single mother?"
"Mom, I’ve already broken up with Dorian. Even if I have a child, so what? I’m telling you this because I want to have this child, even if I’m not married!" Alice said in one breath, her face more serious than ever.
"You really want to have it? You’re only 23! If you really don’t want to be with Dorian, listen to your mom, abort this baby. In the future, when you et soone you like and get married, you’ll still be able to have children," her mother advised practically.
Alice replied, "I will have this child." Because she had already lost one child. "Mom, Dad, if you don’t agree, then I will move out, but no matter what, I will have this baby."
"Ah, you—" Her dad trembled as he pointed at his daughter, unable to speak for a long ti.
