"It’s nothing much, just morning sickness. I went to the bathroom to throw up for a bit," Alice Conley said. "During the first three months of pregnancy, having morning sickness is actually quite normal, except I didn’t tell Secretary Wei about my pregnancy, that’s why she was worried."
Only when she ntioned it did he suddenly rember about morning sickness. So, does that an her pale complexion and her slight weight loss are all because of morning sickness?
How many tis a day does she vomit? Is it severe? Does she throw up a lot of what she eats? Suddenly, questions kept popping up in his head, leaving him speechless.
"You’re pregnant now, yet you’re still carrying such a big box? Why not ask soone to help you?"
"It’s fine. I’m only over a month pregnant now. Aside from being more nauseated, I don’t feel much different from usual."
Alice Conley said, "Also, the things in this box are so things you previously gave to my parents. So have been eaten or used, so there’s no way to return them. My parents had estimate a price. Originally, my mom said they would return them, but I heard my dad ca to you and got physical, so I thought it better for to return these myself."
As she spoke, she glanced at his face, noticing faint bruising and a slight scab at the corner of his lips.
"There’s no need. These things were gifts to them, no need to return them," Dorian Howards said.
"Maybe you think these things are insignificant, but to our family, they must be returned, otherwise it feels like owing soone sothing," Alice Conley said.
Then she directly took out a bundle of money from her bag, "During the Chinese New Year, you gave red envelopes to my relatives. My parents were too embarrassed to call each relative to ask about the amount, so they estimated a price. Also, the money you gave to my family and those things we can’t return probably co to about 100,000. If it’s not enough, you can let know, and I’ll add more."
With that, she placed the 100,000 next to the box.
Dorian Howards frowned even more deeply. Her action felt like she was trying to draw a clear line between them. Yet suddenly, he felt a sense of panic.
What was happening to him? Hadn’t he already decided to completely give up on this relationship? Hadn’t he resolved to drive her out of his heart completely? So why, when she stood calmly in front of him now, did he panic?
As Alice Conley turned to leave, Dorian Howards suddenly grabbed her hand, "Did you co to see today just to say these things?"
Alice Conley quietly gazed at the person in front of her, "What else should I say?"
His expression stiffened. Has it co to the point where they have nothing to say to each other?
Inside, the room was silent, yet he still held her hand, not letting go.
She twisted her wrist but couldn’t break free, so she said, "Dorian Howards, I’ve said everything I ca to say today. Please let go of my hand."
Reason told him to let go! But his hand just wouldn’t release, "The child... don’t you want to talk to about the child?"
