"Okay, I understand." She quickly promised, then her gaze caught Caleb standing at the bedroom door. She promptly scrambled out of Kyle Kinston’s embrace and got out of bed, saying, "Secretary Caleb, when did you get here?"
"Just now, with Elder Kinston." Caleb replied, "But Miss Mabel was really in danger just now. If Elder Kinston hadn’t caught you in ti, you probably would’ve fallen hard."
Mabel Quinn humbly accepted this. Thinking back now, she felt it was quite dangerous.
"Is the bulb in the middle broken?" Kyle Kinston’s voice unexpectedly rang out.
"Yes." Mabel replied, watching Kyle Kinston take off his shoes and step directly onto the bed, clearly intending to change the bulb himself. She quickly said, "I’ll hold the stool for you..."
However, before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt speechless as he didn’t even need to stand on the stool. He simply reached up with his long arm, easily reaching the bulb and began to replace it directly.
At this mont, she truly understood the height difference. With his height, Kyle didn’t need a stool at all!
In no ti, Kyle Kinston had changed the bulb. He said to Mabel Quinn, "Turn on the switch and see."
Mabel Quinn flipped the switch, and the light ca on. Kyle Kinston said to Mabel Quinn, "Caleb and I are going to the small room next door to discuss sothing. If you need anything, just call ."
"Oh, okay." She nodded, then as if rembering sothing, she added, "I’ll make tea for you both."
"I’ll make it for Caleb, you go ahead with your work." Kyle Kinston replied.
A mont later, in the small room next door, Caleb held the tea brewed by his boss, looking at this cramped room, then at Kyle Kinston who was sitting there reviewing docunts. He felt that his boss seed to have changed, seeming more approachable, more down-to-earth.
Or maybe it was better to say... more "human-like." In the past, his boss was always unreachable, always giving off a sense of aloofness and indifference, as if his world refused anyone to co close.
Even though Caleb had been Elder Kinston’s secretary for several years, he still felt it was difficult to get truly close to him.
But now, soone had genuinely gotten close to Elder Kinston, and was making him more "human." This change wasn’t deliberate, perhaps gradual, but it left Caleb in awe.
If it’s Miss Mabel, maybe she could make Elder Kinston better, no longer keeping others at arm’s length, no longer giving off that sense of solitude.
After Caleb left with the docunts, Kyle Kinston returned to the bedroom, seeing that slender figure still working on the laptop.
"What, not done yet?" he asked as he approached.
"I have a eting at Quinn Film Industry tomorrow, so I’m reviewing the speech to see if I missed anything." Mabel Quinn replied.
"Are you planning to wade into the muddy waters of Quinn’s business?" he asked.
She thought for a mont and said, "Maybe even if I wanted to avoid it, it’s hard to stay out of it. Since I can’t avoid it, I might as well face it head-on!"
"If you want to handle it yourself, that’s good. Let’s see if she resorts to underhanded tactics," Kyle Kinston said, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Mabel Quinn shivered, suddenly recalling sothing he had said before — if Alessia Quinn and her people used underhanded tricks again, he would step in directly.
