"How was I supposed to know that Alice Conley would be so fragile!" Indigo Quigley mumbled.
"How dare you even say that!" Her father, enraged, was about to hit her, but her mother quickly intervened, "Now think harder if there’s another way; with all the commotion online, I’m afraid it won’t be long before soone really starts investigating our family’s business."
Their family’s rapid rise to wealth naturally couldn’t have been completely clean—bribery, cooking the books, tax evasion... If it all got counted against them, the whole family would be finished.
"Indigo, didn’t you say you have a good relationship with the Quinn Family’s eldest daughter, Alessia Quinn? Why not ask her for help? If the Quinn Family is willing to intervene, maybe this thing can blow over," her mother suggested.
But the next day, when Indigo went to find Alessia, Alessia was eager to distance herself.
"Indigo, I can’t help you with this. You’d better find soone else," Alessia said.
"How can you say that?" Indigo retorted angrily, "The reason I’m in this ss is because of you. Don’t forget, it was you who tipped off about your uncle’s affair with Mabel Quinn, and you showed the script outline written by Mabel and Alice, letting use their outline to draft a similar script. And now, you’re treating like this?"
"That’s not fair to say. I only ntioned my uncle’s situation to you in passing. As for what you did afterward, I really don’t know," Alessia replied. "Besides, it’s not a big deal now; the Quinn Family sued that reporter, and nothing happened to you, right?"
Indigo nearly ground her teeth to pieces. How could she say nothing happened? She had been slept with by that reporter, and there was footage used for blackmail. How could that be nothing?
"Moreover, about the script, I just said it would be nice if you could write a similar script. I didn’t say anything else. You’re the one who used soone else’s outline. I only accepted your script out of friendship," Alessia distanced herself completely.
The more Alessia denied it, the more Indigo hated her. If Alessia hadn’t said anything, would she have done such a thing?
"You’re just making it clear you want to kick to the curb, aren’t you?" Indigo said bitterly.
"Indigo, since we’ve had a good ti together, I’ll give you the lowdown. Do you really think it’s because of the script? This is just an excuse. Once you pushed Alice Conley down the stairs, Dorian Howards was never going to let your family off the hook. Who do you think Dorian is? Just because he looks gentle on the outside, do you think he’s nice? In Falling City, he’s ruthless! All in all, your family is dood this ti. You should let your parents start thinking about their way out," Alessia said. She also reminded herself silently that since Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn were genuinely back together now, she had better steer clear of Mabel in the future. She didn’t want to end up like Indigo.
As long as... her brother’s previous drugging wasn’t discovered, the Quinn Family would eventually be inherited by her biological brother, and by then, no one would dare question her status as the rightful eldest daughter of the Quinn Family.
