"But she gave birth to , yet never loved , just constantly feeling disgust and hatred towards . Is this aningful?" he said, his face buried deeper in her embrace.
"Perhaps she... just couldn’t cope with the death of that fiancé, feeling guilty towards him and her own self-reproach, which turned her into this? Of course, it’s just my guess." Mabel Quinn said.
"Do you think if that fiancé hadn’t died, everything would have been different?" His voice carried a sort of vagueness, gently dissipating in the air.
She thought for a mont and said, "Probably, if your mother’s grudge with your father was all because of the fiancé’s death, then... if the fiancé’s illness had been cured at that ti, whether your mother stayed with him or with your father, she shouldn’t have died."
He remained silent for a long ti before saying, "Do you think people really have another life?"
"I don’t know, but I hope there is." she said. "In that case, one can hold onto a thought, that in the next life one might et the person they wish to see and fulfill the wishes not completed."
He raised his head slowly, his dark eyes steadily gazing at her, "Then in my next life, I will certainly fall in love with you again, but my wishes, I will fulfill in this life, not wait until the next."
She smiled gently, holding his face, bowed her head, her lips lightly touching his, "Alright, in this life we will fulfill all our wishes, and when the next life cos, we’ll think of new ones."

On the weekend, Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston took a trip to K City, the city where he lived with his mother during his childhood until he was nine.
She accompanied him to the place where he and his mother used to live. The old houses there were long gone, replaced by new buildings. The incident of a woman committing suicide here probably was unknown to most.
His expression carried a solemn sadness... She could only hold his hand tightly, but thankfully, after standing quietly for a few minutes, he turned to her and said, "I’m fine. It has been so long since it happened."
Then he took her to the spot where he used to have a street stall. "Back then, life was tough, but maybe being young, a lot of hardships didn’t feel that hard. I only thought about how to make mom happy. Later, I found that if I earned a bit more money, mom would be a bit happier. So, I wanted to sell more skewers to earn more money."
Pausing for a mont, he looked at her and said, "It’s quite innocent, isn’t it? How many skewers could a child sell, and how much money could he make?"
She shook her head, inexplicably feeling a bit of sourness in her nose, "You were very sensible at that age. When I was your age, I only knew how to play, had no idea how to make money."
"But children are easily satisfied. At that ti, it seed like having a dollar as pocket money, being able to watch an animation episode, playing football with other kids for a few minutes was a great satisfaction for . Yet now, the more we have, the less content we seem to be." he said.
