So dizzy!
Mabel Quinn felt like she was being blinded by those military ranks, it was so awkward! She was stuck, unable to move forward or backward, and could only stare blankly.
Eventually, it was Kyle Kinston who walked up to her and said, "Why did you run out from the resting room?"
"I heard footsteps and thought I’d co out to see if it was you..." Mabel mumbled, but didn’t expect to see so many people.
"Admiral Kinston, who is this..." soone asked.
"It’s Admiral Kinston’s girlfriend, we saw her at the cultural performance before," another person remarked.
Kyle Kinston smiled lightly and said, "Yes, this is my girlfriend, Mabel Quinn."
And so, the officers present, whether they’d seen Mabel Quinn before or not, warmly greeted her, and Mabel responded with smiles.
Finally, once this group of people moved away, Mabel exhaled and murmured to Kyle Kinston, "I didn’t... embarrass you just now, did I?"
"Even if you did, it doesn’t matter; no one dares say anything." He said lightly, as if her question wasn’t worth answering at all.
She was speechless, but then ntioned how the officers she saw seed to have lesser ranks than his, "They all seem older than you!" she comnted, most looking like they were in their forties or fifties, so even had grey temples.
"Mm." He responded lightly.
"Oh, and there’ve been reports saying you’re the youngest admiral to rise through the ranks." She said, "If you keep climbing, only that position remains, huh?"
"Mm." He responded again.
She couldn’t help but marvel, "A few years from now, you could beco the youngest President, right?" My goodness, President?! Just hearing those words felt so distant to her.
Yet, the man standing beside her was the most likely person to beco President in the future.
"Do you wish for to stand in that position?" His voice suddenly rang softly beside her ear.
"It’s not like my wishes could make it happen." She muttered.
"What if they could?" He asked.
She froze for a mont, seeing the seriousness in his eyes. Suddenly she realized that if she said yes, he would take that step forward to reach that position of ultimate power.
"I..." She hesitated, "I don’t know. Sotis, it seems like being President would be impressive, holding the highest power in the country, but often, with great power cos great responsibility. That would be exhausting, wouldn’t it? So, this question should be decided by yourself, but regardless of what choice you make, I’ll support you."
"Really?" His eyes narrowed slightly, "You’ll support whatever choice I make?"
"Of course!" She nodded.
"Then you’ll support the choice I make regarding the Conley Family too, right?" His voice rang peacefully.
She froze, Conley Family... Today she ca to plead again for Mr. Conley, but his words felt like they were blocking everything she wanted to say.
He smiled, lifted his hand, and gently brushed her lips, "I suppose you’ve already seen Alice Conley today."
