Eldritch Guidance Intermission XVII

In a secluded village perched high in the mountains sowhere in the eastern continent, a family gathered to bid farewell to a young man. He had black spiky hair and a kind expression, standing at five foot eight (172 cm) with a slender build. Clad in black shinobi shōzoku-like attire, its mask absent, and a curved blade at his waist.

The man's na was Shin Yuzka, a warrior from the misty mountain village and a devoted disciple of the Thousand Eye Order. For millennia, this organization had protected the world, battling the cult of the naless gods and preventing cataclysmic events with the guidance of their seers. Today, the order had inford Shin of his mission that required him to depart to the western continent, and his family had gathered to bid him farewell as he prepared to depart.

Standing before Shin was his mother, father, and little brother Jin who was crying into mothers arms.

Father: “Make sure you swing your blade to the right like I taught you. You always swing it a little too high.”

Shin: “I will, father. I’ll keep in mind all the lessons you have taught ,” he said respectfully.

Jin: “Brother! It is not fair. Why do you have to go so far away?” he said with tears in his eyes, upset at his brother's departure.

Shin got down on one knee so that he could be eye level with his little brother.

Shin: “Don’t be like that little Jin. Our family has served the Thousand Eye Order for generations. It is a great honor for . So, be happy instead,” he said with a smile.

Jin: “B-but so of the others said you might not return…”

Shin: “Now where did you hear that?”

Jin: “It's what so of the other adults are saying. They said traveling to the western continent is dangerous. And that many of the Thousand Eye warriors won’t even make it there alive.”

Shin grabbed his brother's shoulder and looked him dead in the eye.

Shin: “Listen, I promise no matter what, I’ll return to the three of you.”

Jin: “You promise?”

Shin: “I promise. And, you know . I never break a promise.”

Jin: “You better!”

Shin smiled at his brother and gave him a big hug before letting him go and standing back up.

Shin: “And while I’m gone, you have to look after father and mother. Can you do that for ?”

Jin just nodded.

Shin: “OK then. Goodbye father, mother, and little brother.”

Father: “Wait. Before you go, take this,” he said while handing him the blade that he was carrying on his waist.

The blade rested in a white scabbard, its surface adorned with an intricate design of lotus blossoms. Each delicate petal seed almost to flutter, masterfully etched into the scabbard with such exquisite detail that it captured the essence of a flower in bloom almost perfectly.

Shin: “The White Lotus! Father, I can’t. That’s our family's treasure!”

Father: “You can, and you will. I’m just lending you this. So you better keep your promise and co back to return it.”

Shin hesitated, torn by the reality that there was a genuine risk he might never return. If death claid him on the distant shores of the Western Continent, his family's treasured heirloom, the legendary sword known as The White Lotus, could be lost forever.

Despite these concerns, Shin's father remained resolute and unwavering in his conviction. He pushed the blade into his son's arms despite the protest. Reluctantly, Shin accepted the blade. Finally, he turned away and began his departure.

As his family waved him goodbye, they had a mix of pride and sorrow in their eyes. He descended downwards. The narrow, winding path led him away from those familiar misty peaks. Each step he took felt heavy with the weight of his new responsibility and the life he was leaving behind. The village, with its towering pines and tranquil streams, faded into the distance, and Shin pressed onward.

Eventually, Shin erged into a clearing. Here, he found a gathering of individuals clad in attire similar to his own, their black shinobi shōzoku-like clothing marking them as fellow disciples of the Thousand Eye Order. These warriors, also from his village, had assembled in the clearing, preparing for their collective departure.

Standing prominently in the center of the gathered group was a figure dressed entirely in white attire. Their face concealed behind a loose white cloth adorned with the image of a sideways eye, a symbol of the Thousand Eye Order. The fabric of the face covering fluttered gently in the breeze, giving a strange aura around the figure who seed to embody so sort of wisdom and authority.

This was a seer of The Thousand Eye Order, this group of warriors charge. They were tasked with obeying the seer’s every command and ensuring their protection as they journeyed to the western continent. There, they would join forces with other fellow seers and warriors of the Thousand Eye Order.

Seer: “I believe you are the last one to arrive. Did you say your goodbyes?” they said in a feminine sounding voice.

Shin: “I did, great and honorable seer.”

Seer: “Good, for the journey will be long, and it may be a while before you can see them again. Now then, with everyone here I can explain our mission.”

All the surrounding warriors gathered closely around the seer, their deanor shifting to one of heightened attentiveness, eager for what was about to be said.

Seer: “We will be traveling to the western continent to et up with the other Thousand Eye warriors and seers from other villages. This you already know, now I will impart the reason behind this mission. This is all in relation to the great prophecy. The one that ca into existence with the death of our founder, The Thousand Eye Sage. I speak of The End Tis prophecy.”

Surprise and concern flickered across the faces of many warriors at the seer words. The prophecy of the End Tis was a haunting specter well-known within the order. For the past two hundred years, the seers had tirelessly worked to forestall this ominous prediction. The specifics of the prophecy remained shrouded in mystery to many in the order, yet its dire implications lood heavily over them all. They understood it to be a cataclysmic event of unimaginable proportions, and the seers' relentless efforts to prevent its fulfillnt underscored its severity.

Seer: “For you see, the prophecy has changed. It is now undetermined.”
