Now reading: Chapter 1036 - 709: Darkness Before Dawn from Elf Kingdom: Game of the World Tree, a Action novel by Crunch.

That wasn’t an ordinary wind, but a wind carrying abyssal corruption, often accompanied by mist.

It’s the gray mist that accelerates transformation.

Of course, the atmospheric pressure theory is just Cyber’s wild guess based on what Gando said. As a player, he likes to integrate Earthly scientific knowledge into the Segis World every now and then.

Unfortunately, he’s been proven wrong nurous tis, especially when it cos to magic power.

After leaving the camp, without the bonfire, Cyber felt a bit cold.

He brought up the system interface, intending to play so recorded elf lodies.

However, as he was choosing a song, he paused slightly and looked towards the distant hillside.

On the slope, a beautiful Elf Girl stood gazing into the distance, looking towards the cloud-covered Sorrow Cliff.

Her exquisite profile glowed with a faint light in the darkness, beautiful and dreamlike.

Cyber’s heart stirred, and he instinctively walked over.

The figure watching from the hillside was none other than Demigod Aurora.

Though he had been with Her for two months, every ti he saw Her, Cyber couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy.

He couldn’t help it; the other was truly dazzling.

It’s not that Aurora literally emitted light, although Demigods naturally exude a faint divine glow. But more importantly, it’s Aurora’s powerful presence and noble deanor.

She was like Her title suggests, akin to stars in the sky, emitting a gentle light, yet distant and hard to approach.

On Her, Cyber seed to see thousands of years of solitude, completely severing Her from the mortal realm.

Though highly respected, forever alone.

"Lord Aurora, aren’t you resting yet?"

Coming to Aurora’s presence, Cyber asked respectfully.

However, seeing Aurora’s distant gaze, his eyes narrowed slightly.

Because he noticed Aurora’s eyes were filled with solemnity.

"Lord Aurora, have you discovered any issues?"

Upon hearing Cyber’s words, Aurora retracted Her gaze.

She sighed and said:

"Lord Cyber, for tomorrow’s ascent, please ensure your divine defense barrier is activated at all tis."

"Tomorrow... might not go smoothly."

Cyber paused, his expression turning instantly serious:

"Lord Aurora, what have you found?"

Aurora paused for a mont and said:

"This evening, none of the scouts I sent out earlier returned."

None returned...

Cyber’s brow furrowed completely.

Throughout the journey, the Frost Elves suffered the greatest losses among their scout units.

However, it was precisely because of the scouts’ contributions that the entire clan avoided danger ti and again, reaching this point.

Yet, never before has there been a situation where none returned.

At that mont, Cyber couldn’t help but look towards Sorrow Cliff, and perhaps influenced by Aurora, even that cloud-covered peak seed eerie and mysterious now.

"Lord Aurora, are you suggesting... there might be deadly dangers on the mountain? Perhaps a large number of demons?"

Cyber asked solemnly.

Aurora sighed lightly:

"If there were indeed a large number of demons, it would be manageable. With your control over the divine defense barrier and my support, we could contend with them."

"The concern is not just demons, but the presence of a powerful enemy, lurking and observing us."

A powerful enemy...

Cyber’s heart skipped a beat.

For soone to be acknowledged as powerful by Demigod Aurora, it could only be a demigod-level Demon Monarch, or an Evil God...

And if such an entity were present on the mountain, it would indeed be troubling.

His skill in controlling the divine defense barrier could repel a demon army, but against a demigod-level adversary, it would be completely ineffective.

Relying solely on Aurora, a suppressed Elf Demigod in the abyss, might not be enough to defeat such an enemy.

Below the mythical realm, all are insignificant; if they did encounter an opponent Aurora couldn’t overco, it would be truly troubleso.

No...

Wait...

Did Aurora just say "lurking and observing"?!

Cyber suddenly lifted his head to look at the Elf Demigod, finding Her calmly watching him.

"Lord Cyber."

Aurora continued to speak:

"Actually, since two days ago, I’ve sensed so evil presence observing us in the dark."

"The entity hides well, but... I’m quite sensitive to auras, so I detected it."

"It seems like sothing has been following us, at least for two days now."

"The other’s strength, I’m afraid, is not weaker than mine..."

"I was worried this matter would cause panic in the tribe, so I didn’t ntion it."

"Tonight’s festival, I originally wanted to use the relaxed atmosphere to lure It out, and taking the statue from you was also for this purpose."

"However... It is even more cunning than I imagined... and did not take the bait."

Listening to Aurora’s words, Cyber’s pupils slightly contracted.

At that mont, his once relaxed mood sank again.

However, Aurora had not finished speaking:

"But... this is not the worst situation yet."

She glanced at the Sorrow Cliff hidden in the dark clouds, her gaze becoming more solemn:

"The worst situation would be that the tribesn sent out did not die by the hand of the evil presence secretly watching us, but encountered danger on the mountain..."

"The mountain..."

Cyber’s expression changed slightly, his mood grew heavier.

He understood what the other ant.

If the scouts encountered danger on the mountain and were wiped out, it would an... that there might also be Demigod Level Abyss Creatures on the mountain, or it might outright be an Evil God...

"Lord Cyber."

Aurora suddenly spoke again.

Cyber raised his head to look at this beautiful Elf Demigod and found her gently watching him.

eting Aurora’s clear gaze, a bad premonition suddenly rose in Cyber’s heart, feeling he vaguely guessed what she wanted to say...

Only to see Aurora revealing a gentle smile, softly saying:

"If... if we really encounter an Evil God or an Abyss Lord, I’ll leave the Frost Tribe to you."

"I will find a way to hold off the enemy, to buy ti for everyone."

Looking at the gentle and beautiful Elf Demigod in front of him, Cyber was stunned for a mont, feeling a little bit upset inside.

He paused for several seconds, forcing a smile:

"Lord Aurora, perhaps you are overthinking it..."

"Even if the scouting tribesn encountered danger and didn’t return, it doesn’t necessarily an there is a terrifying enemy, or perhaps the enemy secretly watching us is just a Legendary."

Those words, even to himself, held little persuasion.

Aurora listened and slowly shook her head.

She sighed deeply, saying:

"Lord Cyber, I also hope so, but unfortunately, if it really were a Legendary, it would be impossible to escape my perception."

"Don’t look at like this, I am at least a Demigod!"

With that, she smiled slightly again:

"However, the Mother Goddess has revived, and my greatest wish has actually been fulfilled."

"The remaining mission is to protect the Frost Tribe."

"Victory is just ahead, for the return of the children, I am willing to give everything..."

"This, as a Guardian, is what I must do and what I love to do."

"Lord Cyber."

"If, by any chance... the tribesn will be entrusted to you."

Aurora wore a smile.

Seeing her warm smile, Cyber opened his mouth, feeling a pang of sadness.

He took a deep breath and said:

"Lord Aurora, protecting the return of the Frost Tribe is also my responsibility, I will do my utmost!"

Saying so, he forced another smile:

"However, I don’t think you need to be too pessimistic, the Goddess is still waiting for you! What the Elf Forest now lacks most is the legend of the Elf Clan, and everyone is especially looking forward to your return."

Listening to Cyber’s words, Aurora’s eyes beca dreamy, a trace of longing swept across her expression.

However, she quickly revealed a gentle smile:

"I am also looking forward to it..."

"It’s just a pity, perhaps it’s already too late."

A gentle breeze blew through, billowing Aurora’s Divine Dress and sleeves.

Accompanied by the breeze, was the faint visibility of layers of black tumors hidden under the magnificent dress...

Those were signs of erosion by the Power of the Abyss.

Cyber’s expression instantly turned to shock.

At that mont, he suddenly realized a problem in his heart.

The tribesn whom Aurora had been protecting would all be polluted.

So... how could she, who had been severely wounded thousands of years ago, who gave her all to lead the tribe out, and persisted alone until today, remain unscathed?
