"Then, after destroying everything, did He go to the next universe, or should I say, the Segis World where we are now?"
"I’m afraid so."
"So... you, the Titans, and the humans of the Segis World, were actually survivors He brought from the last universe?"
"I fear... that might be the case."
"What about the Ancient Gods?"
"The Ancient Gods... are mythical creatures born in this cycle of the Segis Universe. They were born as myths, far surpassing the previous two universes. My guess is that it relates to the ’missing’ Original Law from the last universe. The Ancient Gods are likely beings evolved from those un’collected’ laws. In other words, the mythological power of the Segis World should have been the strongest in history."
"’Should have been’?"
"As you know, the Ancient Gods have already withered away."
After a few exchanges with Ulinos, Eve fell into silence.
A mont later, He asked:
"Then... what about the World Tree?"
Ulinos glanced at Eve, saying with profound aning:
"The World Tree... was also brought to the Segis World by Neo. However... unlike , unlike the Titans, the World Tree cos from truly beyond."
"Strictly speaking, neither the World Tree nor humanity belongs to this universe."
As he spoke, Ulinos looked behind the Stele.
There stood a temple identical to the Pantheon.
Only, this temple appeared much newer than the ones before it.
Looking at this temple, Eve faintly guessed what lay inside.
He began to walk over, and although Ulinos said nothing, he accompanied Him to the front of that temple, opening its large doors with a purple light orb in his hands.
The doors slowly opened, revealing the scene inside.
In there, there were no fractured planes, just an endless darkness.
And within that darkness stood a lonely new Stele.
On the Stele were inscribed mysterious writings, understandable even if not comprehended.
The writings recorded the history from the birth of the Segis World to just after the end of the god-demon war...
This was a Stele belonging to the Segis World.
Seeing those ancient inscriptions, Eve also understood the na origin of the Segis Universe.
Segis... was the language without Magic Power passed down by the humans of the last universe, now extinct among the creatures of the Segis Universe.
Therefore, this na was incomprehensible to the creatures of the Segis World; to them, it was rely a phonetic translation.
In the previous universe, the term had two anings:
Transcendence, and... Origin.
This na was given by Neo.
...
After reading the Stele, Eve left the Origin Temple with Ulinos.
And Ulinos continued to narrate all he knew:
"The Segis Universe... has been constantly in cycles, and this is the seventh ti."
"The universes you just saw were not other universes, but forr versions of the Segis Universe."
"Destruction, rebirth... destruction and rebirth... repeating endlessly."
"And the aning behind this, I believe you have already guessed, is precisely for the ’Master’ ntioned in that mysterious language to collect the Original Law."
"Regarding that mysterious ’Master’, I once heard from Neo when obtaining the ’Key’ from Him, that He was the true creator of this closed universe, a creator who was gravely injured and fell into slumber..."
"And the purpose of collecting the Original Law was nothing but healing."
"The creatures in the universe, from ignorance to enlightennt, to rising against, then failing, restarting, failing, restarting... until today."
"Worlds were destroyed again and again, and the creator harvested laws repeatedly, and each destruction was executed by the Abyss Demons."
"The so-called Abyss Will is very likely a will of cosmic reincarnation left by the creator."
"The Abyss Demons were not as they are now; they have constantly grown and evolved across cycles."
"In the Segis World, the Demons evolved a new power, which is human wisdom."
"In the past, they acted on instinct alone, but now, they also possess traits of intelligent beings."
"This ti, the Demons are more powerful, and when the Abyss first appeared, the Titan Giants fighting against our dragons were driven to extinction, with various planes suffering greatly."
"If not for our subsequent collaboration with other Ancient Gods to besiege the Abyss Myth, this universe might have already been destroyed by the Abyss..."
"But even so, we only severely damaged the Abyss, and over these years, not only have the planes fallen into the Abyss not decreased, they have even increased."
"Conversely, the Ancient Gods have gradually dwindled, and we dragons have also beco fewer..."
"Now, the main force restraining the Abyss is composed of the True Gods of Faith, led by the gods of the Heavenly Realm."
"However, you might also notice that the power of the True Gods of Faith is weakening, and the number from a thousand years ago compared to now... is in no way comparable."
"This ti, the Abyss Demons appear not very strong, but are actually slowly boiling the frog in warm water, consuming the power of the Segis World bit by bit."
Having listened to Ulinos, Eve was lost in thought.
The other was right.
Take this recent god-demon war as an example, it seems the side of the True Gods won a great victory, but in reality, the Abyss wasn’t severely injured, only so demons and Abyss Myths were consud.
And Abyss Myths are born much more easily compared to True Gods.
Eve himself severely injured so Evil Gods, gained victory, and even inversely utilized the power of the Demon Gods to exploit the Abyss.
Without Eve, perhaps the entire Segis Plane might have been finished by now.
This makes Eve himself seem like a variable.
"Lord Eve."
Ulinos’s voice interrupted Eve’s thoughts.
This ancestor of the Segis World dragons looked at Him deeply:
"I once heard a few words, or a prophecy, from Lord Neo."
"What?"
Eve asked curiously.
Ulinos took a deep breath, looking into the distance:
"I still rember that day, He sat high in the Pantheon, His gaze profound yet pained."
"I asked Him what happened, and He told He was wrong, wrong from the beginning, making a wrong choice that could only lead to an inevitable failure..."
"I continued to ask what He ant, and He only gave a bitter smile without answering, simply telling a passage to always rember, saying that the way to unbind the world’s shackles lies within these words..."
"[The Segis Universe is a cyclical closed loop, and creatures within this system can never break the cycle of fate; changing the Segis World requires external force...]
"[External force might accelerate the universe’s destruction, but could also bring true rebirth.]"
Saying so, He gave Eve a deep look:
"In this perspective, the World Tree on the Stele of the Origin Temple, which has never appeared before, is such an external force; the humans descending from beyond are also an external force, and even Lord Neo himself... is an external force."
"Yet, the next day, Lord Neo vanished, leaving only the key to the Land of Origin."
"No one knows where He went."
"So Ancient Gods said He left this universe, others said He fell into eternal sleep..."
"But one thing is certain, that this universe can only have one being with great Divine Power, and now... that position is vacant."
"He might indeed have left, but He might also have perished."
With that said, Ulinos looked at Eve again, gaze profound and elusive:
"Lord Eve..."
"Will you beco the savior of the Segis Universe, or the harbinger of its end?"
