The golden sun hung high in the sky, with not a cloud in sight.
The brilliant sunlight filtered through the gaps between the leaves, spilling down in streams over Gray Harbor, veiled by lush woods and flower clusters.
Sumr had arrived.
Even in the Elf Forest, where it’s eternally spring, the temperature climbed quite a bit under the blazing sun, especially in the city.
Luckily, the cities in the Elf Forest were never short of thriving plants, surrounded by dense forests.
And although Gray Harbor wasn’t built long ago, as an elven city, it was blessed by the Life Goddess Eve, so any vegetation planted here grew rapidly, and the greenery in the city had long been established.
The plants’ photosynthesis absorbed the sunlight, and the water vapor from transpiration carried away the heat from the air. Adjacent was the Vimur River, the largest river in the Segis World...
Where there is water, it is indeed cooler.
As a result, even though one could feel the scorching heat of the blazing sun when looking up from the ground, Gray Harbor remained refreshingly cool.
On the north side of the central district of Gray Harbor, in the residential area.
Xia Mu stood in front of his newly built villa in Gray Harbor, gazing at the beautiful elven-styled small building before him, and looked extrely satisfied.
He was one of the first testers of the "Elf Kingdom" and a long-ti mber of the Nature’s Heart Guild.
After his guild built the new city, he promptly moved his ho to Gray Harbor, while renting out his old ho in the central district of the Chosen City to earn so extra contribution points.
With the experience from the Chosen City, this ti he had expanded the size of his villa several tis over.
It no longer resembled a re villa but more like an estate.
There was also a sizable garden behind the villa, where Xia Mu kept his Demon Beasts.
In fact, this was the main reason Xia Mu moved.
Xia Mu was a Druid and Priest player, primarily a Druid.
Not only that, like most of the first testers, he had attained the job change quota months ago and advanced to the Silver rank, reaching the top level 50 of the Silver Lower tier before and after the city construction.
He was considered a sowhat famous Silver Druid bigwig on the server.
However, his hobbies were a bit different from other players.
Besides the usual monster-fighting and leveling up, his favorite pasti was raising Magic Pets.
Unicorns, Wind Wolves, Forest Giant Bears...
The rare and powerful Demon Beasts known to players in "Elf Kingdom," many had been collected by him and were pampered and well-fed in his garden.
He even owned a Little Red Dragon, which he drew a few months back, and it was considered a jackpot in life.
Co to think of it... his rapid advancent to the top level of Silver also had sothing to do with this little guy.
The Red Dragon had an overabundant desire to fight.
Every couple of days, he needed to take his Little Red Dragon out for a spin in the forest, and the Red Dragon would always find a Demon Beast to brawl with.
This little guy especially loved to toy with its prey, always leaving them half-dead.
Every ti, Xia Mu would be the one to finish them off.
The Demon Beasts defeated by the little guy, if they seed agreeable and could be revived, he would try to calm and raise them. Those he didn’t fancy or couldn’t save, he’d just absorb the experience from.
The result was Xia Mu’s collection of Demon Beasts grew larger and larger...
Even though the Red Dragon’s thorough "screening" ensured almost no weaklings among Xia Mu’s Demon Beasts, he preferred to nurture these creatures and enjoyed playing with them over sending them into battle.
He had always loved animals.
After he ca across a Unicorn in the northern part of the Elf Forest, he found the Magic Pet system in "Elf Kingdom" quite intriguing.
Although these Demon Beasts weren’t as intelligent as NPCs, they were much smarter than those in other gas, and the interaction felt no less genuine than with real-life pets.
Moreover, as long as you treated them sincerely, they would reciprocate with loyalty.
Xia Mu loved the feeling of being affectionately surrounded by his Demon Beasts.
Of course, another hobby of his was posting screenshots of himself playing with his Demon Beasts on forums and social dia like Twitter.
He unexpectedly gained quite a few fans from doing this.
He even received nurous inquiries from players about how to capture and nurture Demon Beasts.
Unfortunately, not everyone could use the Red Dragon thod.
Occasionally, he could help others catch a Demon Beast or assist non-Druid players in communicating with them.
In this regard, Xia Mu was quite adept.
Because of his love for Magic Pets, he exchanged many skills related to Demon Beasts, like [Whispers of Nature] for communicating with all things, [Sigh of the Forest] for calming Demon Beasts, and [Healing Soul] for treating injuries.
It was also because of his proficiency in communicating with and raising Demon Beasts that he compiled his experience and shared it on the official forum, unexpectedly pioneering a new stream in "Elf Kingdom"—
"Beast Mastery."
Of course, the later developnt of this new stream perhaps diverged from Xia Mu’s original intent.
Xia Mu only genuinely liked Demon Beasts.
But several players who popularized "Beast Mastery" developed a style where they raised a group of Demon Beasts, locked them in battles, and only needed to finish the opponent off when the Demon Beasts had beaten them to near death—a "Magical Pet Mob" concept...
Indeed, this showcased the freedom in "Elf Kingdom" to its fullest.
Here, there was nothing you couldn’t do, only things you hadn’t imagined.
