Chapter 736: Chapter 572: Do You Think That’s Terrifying or Not?
Northwestern border of the Holy Mania Empire, Colin Castle.
Built as a fortress to resist invasions from the northern Beastn, this military stronghold had always been an important pass in the western part of the Empire, bordering the snowy mountains to the north and the Vimur River to the west. It once housed an army of nearly a hundred thousand, all of them elite soldiers of the Empire.
However, the Empire’s internal strife over the past few decades gradually drained its national strength, making it impossible to maintain such a fortress in the harsh western region.
Moreover, as relations between humans and Beastn gradually eased in recent years, the Empire’s higher-ups had less interest in maintaining the garrison at Colin Castle, leading to its gradual neglect.
Now, the garrison of this military stronghold was reduced to less than five thousand, mostly old, weak, and ailing soldiers, and the city itself had beco a trade point for rchants and Beastn—
all thanks to the small Vimur River dock at Colin Castle.
However, Colin Castle’s geographical location was extrely remote.
Even though it had beco a point of contact between humans and Beastn, aside from the autumn season, it usually remained desolate and quiet.
At least… it should have been like this.
At this mont, the western dock of Colin Castle.
The place was bustling, crowded with people.
More than one rchant ship was docked at the quay, and a large number of adventurers, bounty hunters, fallen nobles, and so well-dressed rchants had gathered on the shore.
It looked like a bustling comrcial port.
On the shore, a strong and imposing warrior was strolling along the riverbank.
Behind him followed an ard Beastman attendant, exuding an air of respect.
Beside him, an adventurer in tattered clothes was enthusiastically saying sothing…
“Sir, the mont I saw your attire, I knew you were extraordinary. Are you also here for the Divine Relics across the river?”
He asked fawningly.
“Divine Relics?”
The stride of the tall warrior paused slightly, and he glanced at the adventurer.
Seemingly encouraged, the adventurer beca even more excited.
He chuckled sheepishly, patting his chest, “Honestly, sir, I’ve been at Colin Castle for over three months, and I’ve been inside the Divine Relics twice. As long as you give ten gold coins, I’ll tell you everything I know!”
The tall warrior gave no comnts, instead casting a sidelong glance at the Beastman behind him.
The Beastman smirked coldly at the adventurer, pulled out a ten-pound gold coin from his pocket, and tossed it over.
The adventurer’s eyes lit up as he quickly pocketed it, then eagerly said, “Thank you, sir! Thank you, sir! What would you like to know?”
“Tell about the interior of the relics.”
The warrior spoke in a deep voice.
The adventurer nodded, “Sir, speaking of the Divine Relics… it’s actually the Divine Country of the world tree that fell a thousand years ago. Inside, it’s scattered with corpses, buried with many treasures of the dead, and sprouts many precious magical plants!”
“Many who went in and ca out beca wealthy!”
He described it with great enthusiasm.
“Oh? But I heard this area has been designated as the territory of the Elf Clan. Anyone who enters becos an enemy of both the Elf Clan and the Life Goddess.”
The tall warrior raised an eyebrow and said.
The adventurer chuckled, “Heh, that’s what they say, but so many people go inside, how can the Elf Clan manage them all? As for the True God… we weaklings surely can’t even catch the Divine’s attention, right?”
“But when I went in, I did run into those crazy elves and even fought with them. I must say… they’re really fierce and even more sinister than many adventurers! More cunning than demons!”
“Crazy elves?”
The tall warrior’s figure paused.
Seeing the benefactor’s interest in this topic, the adventurer imdiately opened up, “Exactly! Crazy elves!”
“Hey, sir, you must have heard about the war in the Underworld two years ago, and the faith wars between elves and Half-Beasts this spring.”
“It’s those elves!”
“These elves are very special. When they fight, they act like madn, yet they’re contradictory—both lax and incredibly disciplined. They have no regard for their lives and are particularly troubleso. I’ve heard rumors that after they die, they can sell their souls to the Death God and resurrect! Isn’t that terrifying?”
“Oh… and their efficiency is unbelievably scary too…”
“Do you know, sir? Winter City—near the relics—is an Elf City. Two months! Just two months ago, there was nothing! They built it in just two months! And it even has a divine arts defense barrier, making it hard to conquer. Isn’t that terrifying?”
The warrior nodded, “Indeed terrifying. I’ve also heard they number greatly, as if they erged out of nowhere in the Elf Forest.”
“Exactly!”
The adventurer nodded emphatically.
After nodding, he looked around, lowered his voice, and said, “Sir, you ntioned those elves appear as if they ca out of nowhere, so… do you know how these elves ca to be?”
“Hm?”
Upon hearing this, the tall warrior glanced at the adventurer with a playful expression, “Are you saying… you know?”
“Hey! Sir! Others might not know, but it just so happens I do! It’s sothing I overheard before fighting those elves in the relics.”
