Song Yi walked into the elevator in a daze, her footsteps sowhat unsteady.

She leaned against the elevator wall, her head tilted back, staring at the ceiling with a vacant look.

It felt as if sothing had tugged at her heart, like flying black ashes instantly wrapped around her whole being.

She felt oppressed and stifled, as if she were a branch burdened by too much cold snow in an icy landscape, suddenly collapsing, sinking into the frozen ground, tightly covered and wrapped by snow and ice again.

The blood in her veins seed to have frozen solid.

Song Yi abruptly squatted down against the elevator wall, hugging herself and burying her head in her knees, biting her lip fiercely, crying with muffled sobs.

Li Wen frowned, hurriedly squatting down to ask what was wrong.

Song Yi said nothing, just cried.

The elevator traveled up and down, with people coming and going, all casting strange glances her way.

Li Wen didn’t know what to do, feeling like he was a jerk bullying Song Yi.

Ti passed, who knows how much, before Song Yi slowly stood up and walked out of the elevator.

Li Wen quickly followed: "What’s wrong with you?"

Song Yi opened the apartnt door, changed her shoes without expression: "Nothing, just wanted to practice my acting."

As she spoke, her gaze lingered on Li Wen: "How was my performance just now? Did you see any emotions?"

Li Wen: "Well..."

That heart-wrenching scene almost made him cry himself.

"I’ll go pack my clothes."

Song Yi finished speaking and left, dragging her body as if her spirits weren’t high.

Li Wen licked his lips, more convinced than ever that Song Yi needed to see a psychologist, for her own sake.

...

In the mountains, the trees were lush, and everything was wet. The fog thickened as they ascended, making visibility increasingly poor.

The overall temperature in the mountains was quite low, and it was very quiet, with only the occasional sound of birds. Apart from the bird calls and the sound of the rain, there was a pervasive sense of deathly silence in the mountains.

The car stopped on the muddy road, and as soon as it did, a torrential downpour arrived.

Outside, the person who reported the incident was waiting.

Tang Si opened the car door, and a gust of wind mixed with rain hit, seeping into his clothing, sending a shiver through him.

The report ca from an investigation team, only two n in their thirties remained, one nad Hu Jun, the other Hu Ziyang, and they were brothers.

Tang Si held an umbrella against the rain, which fiercely pounded on it with a pattering sound.

The sky was a ghastly white.

Shadows cast on people, inexplicably eerie and sinister.

Tang Si held the umbrella with one hand, the other hand in his pocket, his expression calm and composed, his head slightly tilted: "Lead the way."

The path was muddy, with his shoes covered in mud.

Upon arrival, the child lay silently in the mountain gully, surrounded by weeds.

His wrists were bloodstained, exuding a strong tallic scent of blood.

There was also a grotesque stench.

Wang Jinliang and Lu Yu put on all their gear and went down to examine the body.

They were forensic experts, handling forensic verification, and evidence verification.

This was a valley, not a place people would normally visit.

Tang Si watched them go down safely, then shifted his gaze, looking at Hu Ziyang: "How did you find him? Geographical surveys usually determine load capacity. You’re from the construction bureau, and this place is so narrow, with deep valleys, unsuitable for construction, right?"

The question was straight to the point, with a serious and cold tone.

Hu Jun imdiately said: "Because..."

"I’m asking him, not you." Tang Si interrupted coldly, frowning.

Hu Jun, looking at Tang Si, was chilled by his icy deanor. Though Tang Si wasn’t yelling, and his tone was mild, Hu Jun was instantly shocked.

He imdiately stopped talking.

The sound of rain ca down in a pattering rush, and Tang Si’s eyes, with a touch of peach color, carried a chill, making them even colder through the rain. His gaze returned to Hu Ziyang, his thin lips moved again: "Why?"
