When Bologue returned ho with a complex mood, the house was dark and extrely quiet. The noisy Palr was not at ho; Bologue guessed he must be in the combat room, training himself tirelessly day and night.
Bologue had no intention of dissuading Palr. Now his mind was full of anger and motivation. Palr needed to do sothing to burn off this energy, so that while he beca exhausted, his restless consciousness could also find brief peace.
Trying to forget those things that tugged at his heartstrings, Bologue sat on the sofa, leaning his body into the soft cushions. He tried to calm his inner self, yet Aimou’s words, like a spell, floated up from his mind.
This made Bologue feel sowhat ashad... Perhaps, as Aimou said, he truly was a shy, reserved person.
Sotis it’s hard for a person to recognize their true self. Bologue needed help from others, like a mirror, reflecting his genuine image.
A question surfaced in Bologue’s mind: Why did he resist and argue?
Was it because those things were too unfamiliar to him?
As an expert, Bologue never disliked unfamiliar things. As long as he approached them, tried, and learned, nothing unfamiliar would be too challenging for him.
But this ti was different.
Bologue fell into prolonged silence, until the overly tranquil atmosphere made him sowhat uncomfortable.
The conversation with Aimou eased Bologue’s mind but also brought more questions. Thus thinking, Bologue turned on the radio, and after a while, the familiar voice echoed in the darkness.
"Hello listeners! I’m Dudel, your faithful friend who broadcasts twice a day. Welco to our program!"
Because of busyness at work, Bologue hadn’t heard Dudel’s voice for so ti. Hearing those familiar words now, it felt like reuniting with an old friend.
Dudel’s chattering voice chased away the loneliness as Bologue walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, staring at this bustling city.
Bologue thought of the last scene recorded by the Eye of the Chronicler. He rembered that street and that flower shop.
Previously, Bologue was always puzzled about why Church would voluntarily expose himself.
To destroy the decaying plague and save the city?
It sounded like a good reason, but Bologue felt the explanation was still insufficient. Church was rely an intelligence officer; avoiding direct conflict was ingrained in his instincts... This was what Bologue was supposed to do, not him.
This lack of understanding, through conversations with Aimou and with ti passing, coupled with Bologue’s self-reflection, he understood.
Rembering when they found Church, the flowers he carried... a small, sowhat ridiculous reason.
Thus the reasoning beca sufficient. Realizing this, Bologue even wanted to cheer for Church, praising his daring act.
"You love this city, the people in this city, and for all this, you even defied your own nature."
Bologue sighed.
"Oh my..."
Bologue considered himself a rational person, but so-called love was anti-rational. Bologue disliked anti-rational things, yet he didn’t want to scorn love.
Like tempting poison, facing it, Bologue was helpless.
Everyone is like this, unavoidable, and ultimately must face it.
