And then there’s Sai Zong, this self-proclaid Chosen One of the Eyes of Eternal Fury. Looking back at all his ridiculous behavior, Bologue really finds it hard to associate him with such a dreadful identity.
Sotis, it’s really hard to understand what the Devils are thinking.
"I’m a bit confused," Bologue, deeply troubled, mused as if talking to himself. "Sai Zong suddenly spoke to , telling the truth about the Undying Club and the Devil he serves..."
"Normally, I would kill you and take back the Original Sin Armant, but you’re my mber, my friend, I can’t do that." Sai Zong’s tone was extrely cold, it did not sound like they were friends at all.
"Kill ?" Bologue was even more bewildered. "With the power of the Eyes of Eternal Fury, shouldn’t you be encouraging to create more slaughter, right?"
In a fleeting mont, Bologue had thought about what Sai Zong might say. He hoped he would take up this weapon and engage in eternal slaughter and sacrifice with the Undead’s long lifespan, but now it seems, Sai Zong intends to stop all this.
Peace.
The words from the earlier conversation flashed through Bologue’s mind, followed by thoughts of Protections and Curses. Those protected often suffered from the burden of curses, living lives of unspeakable pain.
Bologue once thought such curses only happened to those protected until reality shattered, recalling what Ewen had said to Asmodeus and the information left in Ewen’s papers.
It might not just be those protected who longed for the opposite; even Devils were the sa.
The wrathful will never know peace, and so they long for it.
"Continue, Sai Zong." Bologue listened intently to him.
"Just as the Undead gets weary of eternal existence, Devils also grow tired in this endless Hell," Sai Zong, deliberately omitting past stories, seed reluctant to ntion them. "I fought alongside the Eyes of Eternal Fury for centuries, until one day, he unusually cald down and told he longed for peace."
"Rather than a master-servant relationship, we are more like friends. After all, I am his only, true Debtor and the Chosen One."
Sai Zong continued, "To fulfill his wish and attain true peace, he entrusted the majority of his power to , and I created this land to allow him to slumber."
"I don’t understand, can Devils tire of such things too?" Bologue pondered in confusion.
Sai Zong gave Bologue a deep look, wanting to say sothing but stopping, only telling Bologue, "You will understand one day."
"Continuing our story, after the Eyes of Eternal Fury fell into slumber, I had to ensure no one could disturb him. That’s why the Undying Club beca isolated from the world, but that wasn’t enough..."
Sai Zong’s voice ceased, and Bologue guessed the reason, "Those Original Sin Armants, as long as these weapons continue to consu blood, sacrifices will continuously be offered to the Eyes of Eternal Fury, leaving him no peace."
"Yes, so I spent a considerable amount of ti recovering these Original Sin Armants. For a while, I even considered it a criterion for mbership registration. Only an Undead who recovered an Original Sin Armant was eligible to join here. Of course, to forever bury these secrets, in the Undying Club, no one would rember anything related to the Original Sin Armant."
"When I joined, there was no such requirent."
Sai Zong said, "Because the Undying Club is just a gathering place for you now, you haven’t truly retired, plus, most of the Original Sin Armants have already been successfully reclaid."
"But there are still a few pieces lost, like my Vengeful Saw Axe." Bologue began to suspect whether acquiring this weapon was due to so ulterior motive of the Decision Room.
"Though reluctant, but... does this an that stopping the use of this weapon in slaughter could greatly pacify your master and let him slumber?" Bologue analyzed, "This could be a way to render a Devil powerless. If you need, I can relinquish it."
Bologue would never be bound by tools.
Surprisingly, Sai Zong shook his head at this proposal.
"A new conflict is coming, Bologue. With the continuous rise in Ether concentration, this could be the final conflict, a cataclysm that engulfs everything."
Sai Zong spoke heavily, "I have no interest in becoming the King of Demons. My sole purpose is to preserve the peace here."
Bologue said, "But you can’t stay out of it."
"Yes, it’s quite sad," Sai Zong’s tone changed, as if he were the Devil himself. "This is our fate, the fate of the cowards."
Sai Zong shifted the conversation, "I need you to do sothing for ."
"What?"
"I can sense more Original Sin Armants resurfacing. I hope you can help recover these Original Sin Armants to prevent the Eyes of Eternal Fury’s slumber from being disturbed."
"Why don’t you do it yourself?" Bologue asked, "Your power should far surpass mine, and you know more about this world and the Devils’ sches."
"I can’t do it," Sai Zong’s laughter turned extrely bitter, "they are all watching , eager to kick out first, and this would inevitably trigger a conflict, leading to the awakening of the Eyes of Eternal Fury."
"So you returned, avoiding the battle as well," Bologue said.
Sai Zong said, "I can pay you enough price."
"What can you promise?"
"It depends on what you want?"
