When Zargos appeared, Adam and Alexia weren’t nervous. Unlike Liliane and the fifth team, this was just one Lord, and they knew that Ramilo was strong because Goen trusted him, and that ant a lot.
So, Adam was sure that after a few clashes, Ramilo would win easily, and they would continue on their way to the exit of the Primal Lands.
But... reality turned out to be not as simple as he had expected.
’Wait, when did he manage to hit him?’ Adam was shocked. ’What’s more, Ramilo is injured! It’s just a burn... but does that an Zargos is faster than Ramilo?’
Ramilo, in turn, didn’t think much of it.
"Tsk, Zargos, now I’ll sll like I’ve fallen into a fire all day!"
"Hah, that’s your problem," Zargos smirked. "You could have dodged or blocked my punch, or... Are you too slow for that?"
Ramilo narrowed his eyes and ran forward.
At first, he looked like a heavy bull about to ram Zargos, but soon his fra began to tremble.
He appeared and disappeared in different places around Zargos, trying to knock him off balance.
"Take that!" Ramilo exclaid as he attacked from the left.
Zargos spun around sharply to counterattack.
Their fists collided, causing a shockwave with a fiery ring.
Ramilo’s eyes narrowed as he attacked again, appearing to the right of Zargos, but the result was the sa.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
For so reason, Zargos did not attack first himself. He waited for Ramilo to strike and always managed to react in ti.
"Co on, fat ass! Show what you’re capable of!"
"Or..."
Zargos’s gaze darkened for the first ti since their fight began.
"I’ll have to turn you into a pile of ashes!"
The crimson fla enveloped Zargos’s arms up to his shoulders as his aura grew more powerful.
Now, it was his turn to attack, and that wasn’t good news for Ramilo.
Clang!
Their fists collided, sending tremors through the rocks behind them.
"Agh?"
Ramilo’s eyes widened as a line of fire shot across his arm.
"Look at !" Zargos exclaid as his foot slamd straight into Ramilo’s jaw.
The force of the impact was enough to throw Ramilo far backward. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but not in their situation.
No matter what was happening above, the earthworm continued to move forward until there were no obstacles in its path.
Thus, instead of falling onto solid ground, Ramilo fell off the earthworm.
Zargos remained on the giant worm, watching Ramilo with a broad grin.
"Wait, did he want to do this all along?!" Adam exclaid internally.
No matter how strong Ramilo was, if he wasn’t there, he wouldn’t be able to protect them.
Then, Adam and Alexia realized one more thing — they had nowhere to run, they were stuck on the life train from which there was no escape.
"HHHHHAAAAAA!!!!" Ramilo took a deep breath as his body grew even larger, resembling a rubber ball.
Alexia raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
Ramilo waved his hand, creating a blue energy cluster next to him, which in the next mont exploded into a blast.
The montum threw him to the side, causing him to bounce off the tunnel walls. With each ricochet, he beca faster until, on the next jump, he approached the earth worm.
"Don’t think you can get rid of that easily!"
Ramilo crashed down on Zargos from above.
If this attack hit the earth worm directly, everyone would be in trouble, but Zargos decided to take the strike.
BAM!
Ramilo’s fist knocked Zargos off the earth worm, but unlike Ramilo, he imdiately found a solution.
Whoooooosh!
The crimson fla enveloped Zargos’s legs as he ran along the walls of the tunnel, surrounding them in a ring of fire from above.
Adam gulped. He couldn’t even imagine the speed required to easily catch up to the earth worm while moving along steep walls.
’Surely he could use his flas to fly, like on two missiles, but instead he’s just using his feet?’
Adam frowned.
’Is it because he follows the rules? Isn’t he acting too correctly for soone who wants to kidnap for a reward? This Zargos... he’s strange.’
Blast!
The next fiery explosion distracted Adam from his thoughts as a hail of blows rained down on Ramilo.
"Co on! Ramilo! Is that all a mber of the Old Light is capable of?!"
Bam! Bam! Bam!
For a few monts, Ramilo and Zargos moved so fast that Adam and Alexia could only see a blur between their silhouettes.
All they could do was hold their breath and wait for the winner of this battle, hoping it would be Ramilo.
But...
"GHA!!!"
A painful cry echoed through the tunnel as Ramilo collapsed to the ground not far from Adam and Alexia.
Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
All his muscles twitched from the waves of pain running through his body. Every one of Zargos’s punches was dangerous, which was evident from Ramilo’s nurous burns. There was not a single place left where he had not been wounded.
At the sa ti, all Ramilo had achieved was a few scratches on Zargos’s shoulder and his left cheek.
"Ramilo, it’s now or never!" Zargos exclaid in a high, theatrical voice.
Phat!
Ramilo spat out a clot of blood, getting up from the ground with a dissatisfied look.
"Tsk, is it so hard for you to accept defeat? Why did you have to make do this?"
However, Zargos said nothing. He folded his arms behind his back and watched, knowing that Ramilo had no other choice.
Ramilo shook his head and took a deep breath.
"Ghhhhaaaaa!"
He continued to breathe, gradually, his breath becoming colder and colder, and his muscles began to shake violently.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Like balloons, his muscles inflated to enormous sizes, and he began to resemble a mutant born from a failed genetic experint, huge and ugly.
But...
As soon as Ramilo blinked, his eye color changed to blue, and a massive stream of hot steam gushed from his body.
For a few seconds, a veil of steam hid Ramilo’s figure until a gust of wind revealed him.
Adam and Alexia’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Instead of the huge, bloated Ramilo, or even his usual plush form, sothing else now stood before them.
His height had decreased, becoming even slightly shorter than Zargos, his face sharp as carved granite, and muscles like steel rods trembled beneath his blue skin, now covered only by a short layer of fur.
Now, standing before them was not a kind, big cat who loved to joke around, but a killing machine with claws sharper than any blade.
"Great, that’s what I wanted to see!"
Zargos rejoiced like a child receiving a reward for his efforts.
