Now reading: Chapter 1665 1665: Public Defeat from Endless Evolution: Last Star, a Adventure novel by Arlemit.

Larth was certain that when he unleashed the full power of his Hollow Mark, even if it didn't lead to an imdiate victory, it would at least leave Adam impressed.

He wanted to see fear and admiration in Adam's eyes, so that a Phantom who had co from distant lands would truly appreciate his power and monsters like him.

However, Adam's reaction turned out to be the opposite of what he expected, and for so reason, it even angered him.

A multitude of questions filled Larth's mind. He didn't understand what Adam was talking about.

What had made Adam angry? Why had Adam said he was trying to copy him? What did all this an?

Perhaps Larth could have found the answers, but he didn't have ti for that.

As soon as the black mist began to erge from Adam's body, Larth's face turned as pale as a sheet of paper.

"What the…" Larth stamred in disbelief.

It wasn't just him who reacted this way, but most of the monsters at the blade pillar. Moreover, even Kaerno raised an eyebrow in genuine curiosity.

"Hah, Dark Energy at this stage?"

A slight smirk ford on his face.

"How interesting. I haven't seen anything like this in a long ti, a very long ti."

Sarka, who had previously wanted to fight Adam and envied Larth, now... now she was even more convinced of her desires.

"V-V-Valleyn! Do you see this?" Sarka gripped the railing tightly, staring with a hungry glare at the black mist enveloping Adam.

Unlike the energetic Sarka, Valleyn's reaction was far more cautious and restrained. For a mont, fear flashed in her eyes.

"Where does a Phantom of his level get such power? Wait… I've heard of this. There's only one way this could be the case and—"

Before Valleyn could finish her thought, a chill ran down her spine as Adam prepared to attack.

Step.

He took a step back, ignoring the wound in his chest, as all the darkness surged toward his hand.

In the blink of an eye, the black spear appeared in his hand. It was thin and unstable, like random fragnts of energy gathered together.

At first, several monsters exchanged glances. They felt deceived. They couldn't understand why they were so afraid of this power when the spear didn't look dangerous at all.

Soon, they changed their minds.

"You know, I've only used this ability once before."

Adam tightened his grip. The red eyes on his gloves widened as the beam of light fell on Larth, making him the sole target of Adam's ability.

"You're out of luck. I've learned a thing or two since then."

Larth didn't understand what Adam was talking about when suddenly the black spear began to tremble, growing in size until it resembled a great sword in length.

The crimson fla engulfed its outline, causing the space around it to warp and tremble.

Two eye seals appeared at the spear's tip. Their pupils darted from side to side like mad before fixing their gaze on Larth, who only now realized what kind of power stood before him.

"RUN!!!" Valleyn shouted, waving her hand. She was one of the first to realize that Larth had no way of withstanding this attack.

Listening to her and his instincts, Larth raised his foot, preparing to step aside. Unfortunately for him, it was already too late.

Adam leaned forward as, in a split second, his fra moved forward at supersonic speed.

The next thing Larth saw was the crimson fla that eclipsed the entire world for him.

Even Tron hadn't had ti to react to Adam's attack, so Larth had no chance.

Before he could even comprehend it, the black spear would reduce him to nothing, and the crimson fla would burn him to ashes.

'N-No… This can't be!'

Suddenly, another silhouette materialized to the left of the spear. First ca red eyes, then sharp fangs and powerful jaws that closed around the black spear.

CLASP!

Outpacing the spear's speed, the jaw devoured it, leaving not a single shred of darkness behind.

Then, the jaw smirked and vanished without a trace.

"What… What was that?"

Adam stared at a single point for a mont as a shadow flashed across his eyes.

Tap.

Sothing touched Larth's shoulder, causing him to turn around nervously. His heart was racing and filled with fear. He realized that Adam's attack could have killed him.

"Calm down. There's nothing left of that terrifying spear," Kaerno said with a deep gaze.

After that, he smirked, turning to Adam.

"Good job, boy. I must admit, I didn't expect a Phantom like you to possess the Dark Energy. It's an extrely rare occurrence. But now it's clear why HE decided to send you here."

Larth gulped. "M-Master Kaerno… I…"

"Don't. Your last attack was the best performance I've seen from you. You did well. Unfortunately, your fight wasn't even from the start. I'm sorry, but against the Dark Energy, you don't stand a chance right now."

Larth clenched his fists tightly, lowering his grim gaze. "Y-Yes. I understand."

"Hey, Adam. Answer honestly," Kaerno waved his hand. "Could Larth have survived your attack if I hadn't intervened?"

Adam narrowed his eyes. "Does he have so defensive ability, or maybe an artifact? A backup plan?"

In response, Larth shook his head.

"No. My abilities are focused on speed and attack. However, that spear… turned out to be too fast for !"

"I see." Adam shrugged. "In that case, he would have died. There's no doubt about it."

"B-But!" Larth's voice trembled. "If I'd been just a little faster, I could have dodged it!"

"No."

Adam's sharp reply left Larth speechless.

"Even if you were five tis faster, it wouldn't have helped you. My spear would have pursued you even if you'd fled to the ends of the earth."

Larth's mouth fell open, but he had nothing to say. Adam's serious gaze made it clear he wasn't lying.

Clap.

Kaerno clapped his hands.

"Alright, that's enough."

Adam frowned.

"What now?"

Kaerno turned, heading toward his pillar.

"Now I'm ready to welco you as my guest. You can stay here, outside, but I wouldn't recomnd it."

He glanced over his shoulder.

"You want to learn more about that cave, don't you?"
