The deadly Black Snake couldn't even let out a scream, dying instantly amidst the buzzing sound of the Gu Insect inside Su Mu.
Psssh!
At the mont the Black Snake died, the Black Insect Elder in the distance suddenly let out a scream, spewing several mouthfuls of fresh blood.
The Lifebound Gu and the Gu Master prosper together, suffer together. Though a Gu Master won't truly die when the Lifebound Gu perishes, they will undoubtedly suffer great backlash.
The backlash of the Lifebound Gu is now occurring to the Black Insect Elder, his already hunched body convulses violently and collapses to the ground, looking equally miserable.
Su Mu never thought that at this critical mont, the Gu Insect inside him would save his life.
Whew whew whew------
Seeing a glimpse of survival, Su Mu's strong will to live drives him to desperately breathe, as he races against ti, betting on who can catch their breath faster.
The Black Insect Elder is also aware of this; the two, separated by a re ten feet, stare intensely at each other.
Their heavy breathing fills the scene, but the perfection of Su Mu's Five Animals Qigong and the long-term consumption of the Three-in-One Body-Strengthening Soup co into play, allowing him to catch his breath before the Black Insect Elder.
Shaking, he reaches into his clothes and pulls out a small porcelain bottle, biting off the cork and swallowing the whole bottle in one go.
He then tears open a packet of dicinal powder and swallows that too; it's the latest concoction from the Pharmacist, whose fire poison is extrely potent, advising to brew it into three large bowls and take a dose every three days.
But at the brink of life and death, Su Mu can't afford to be cautious.
After consuming the pill and dicinal powder, Su Mu uses all his effort to stir up a bit of Power, shattering the pill he just consud, releasing its effects.
It felt like a fla burning fiercely within him, making him feel as if he were lting like the ore burnt within the forge.
At this mont, the Black Insect Elder also takes out a bottle of pills and swallows them.
But Su Mu's side is clearly faster; the internal blaze and pill begin to work, allowing Su Mu to stagger to his feet and face the approaching figure of the Black Insect Elder, who now wears a strong expression of resentnt.
That expression quickly twists into one of spite and sarcasm.
"With the Gu King here, all Gu et their end!"
"Hahaha, if my guess is right... inside you there is an untransford Gu King, and you are rely the bed of flesh for this Gu King. To witness the Gu King before I die is not a wasted life, Li Feiyu you are deeply poisoned, death is near, I will be waiting below for you, …"
Su Mu kicked up the curved saber on the ground and chopped down with one slash.
"Li Feiyu, I will be waiting below for you..."
The Black Insect Elder's hysterical screams abruptly stop, cold light descends, a line of blood rapidly expands across the Black Insect Elder's neck, and his head flies off.
Clang.
The bloody curved saber falls to the ground, Su Mu collapses, dazed, breathing heavily. It's uncertain how much ti has passed before the Gu Insect inside him gradually calms under the effect of the powder and pill.
"Flesh bed... Gu King..."
Sitting on the ground, Su Mu regains his Qi Power, pondering the last words of the Black Insect Elder, feeling a heavy mood as he looks at the head he severed.
Su Mu repeatedly recalls all that just happened, quickly noticing that, amidst the buzzing of the Gu Insect inside him, when the Black Snake exploded, its body faintly emitted black gas.
"What's inside , exactly..."
The silent dense forest where mountain winds intermittently wail offers no answer.
Once so Qi Power is restored, Su Mu silently rummages through the Black Insect Elder's body, finding nothing but 300 silver notes and a sandalwood box containing a large pill, but Su Mu has no interest right now, so he simply stuffs them inside his clothes.
The belongings of the Child had already been searched thoroughly, so Su Mu could only pin his last hope on the wooden house; his initial plan was to capture the Black Insect Elder alive.
But things didn't go as planned; under such circumstances, he couldn't hold back and had to kill the Black Insect Elder, lest the expert in Gu Insect techniques regain breath, and the one who dies in the end would likely be Su Mu.
Still holding onto a sliver of hope, Su Mu enters the wooden house, his eyes suddenly brightening.
On the wooden table inside the house, he sees an ancient text that hasn't yet been closed and strides over to grab it. The yellowing cover prominently displays three large characters: Hundred Gu Scripture.
Hundred Gu Scripture?!
Su Mu's breathing quickens as he opens several pages on the spot, finding detailed records inside about various Gu poisons and techniques for crafting Gu Insects as well as corresponding thods for Detoxification.
"There are thods for Detoxification… and over a hundred types, which is very aningful for dealing with Gu poison!"
Su Mu closes the ancient text with a fiery heart; he originally accepted the bounty because of 'Gu Poison', and now he finally has it. Cherishing it dearly, he places this book inside his clothes.
After rummaging briefly but finding little else, Su Mu turns to leave but first picks up a familiar Wolf Pattern Token from the body ravaged by Gu Insects.
"Assassin's Order… I'll take it back to Director Li."
The assassin lives and dies by the blade, dying at the hands of a villain is not uncommon, it's part of an assassin's path.
But since he sees it, Su Mu figures he might as well pacify his mind.
"Rest in peace."
As the corpse was ravaged by the Gu Insect, likely containing Gu poison, Su Mu didn't collect the body but simply tore the white bedding inside the house into two halves, covering the remains with one half and placing the bloody curved saber beside the remains.
After finishing this, Su Mu wraps the Black Insect Elder's head in the other half of the bedding, hanging it on his waist, and quickly departs the dense forest.
Descending from Black Bull Mountain, the blazing sun seems afla, scorching the earth.
Beneath the venomous sun, Su Mu's weakened body noticeably recovers faster. Discovering this, he feels a shiver, recalling words from the Pharmacist months ago.
"Young friend, can you recall any other special occurrences these past two years?"
Back then, he rely shook his head, having no clues.
Su Mu's eyes flicker, subtly lifting his gaze toward the fiery sun in the sky, suddenly realizing so matters.
"The great sun embodies the most yang and rigid of all... yang, fire?"
For a mont, he understands why those people initially placed him as an apprentice in the Blacksmith Shop in Qingshui Town.
"So that's how it is..."
Su Mu recalls that when he re-entered the Forging Workshop, six months late, and restarted forging, he distinctly felt his physical condition was better than before, but back then he didn't think much of it.
Now he realizes that the reason those people arranged this way lies in the unsubdued forge within the workshop.
"The forge can suppress the Gu Insect inside … No wonder that even on rainy days, as long as I'm inside the Forging Workshop and start forging, I don't feel the Gu Insect inside ."
Suddenly, Su Mu's mind begins rapidly computing, his excellent Comprehension endowing him with strong cognitive ability, allowing him to notice many details he previously missed.
"This explains… why the antidotes repeatedly tested and formulated by the Pharmacist always contain potent fire poison; fire poison is both poison and cure!"
At this mont, Su Mu suddenly recalls the term 'hibernation'.
"Bears consu nearly half their body weight in food before hibernation, then as the cold winter arrives, they fall into a deep sleep, reducing energy consumption."
"Those people are actually creating an environnt for the Gu Insect to 'hibernate', but the Gu Insect's 'hibernation' environnt is opposite and requires high temperature; the forge fire during forging will lull the Gu Insect to sleep, and every ti an antidote is taken, it provides sustenance for the Gu Insect thriving in winter."
"The Gu Insect becos stronger each ti, but I, as the flesh bed, won't die too soon."
Thinking of this, Su Mu's eyes subtly brightened; previously, he had no insight into Detoxification, only able to rely on the Pharmacist, but now he finds the weakness of the Gu Insect, and acquires the Hundred Gu Scripture.
By using the weakness as a breakthrough point, he can start researching Gu Poison in earnest, additionally conveying these findings to the Pharmacist, effectively attacking the issue from both sides.
"Gu King, flesh bed… it's uncertain who will be the victor yet!"
