POV: Kyo

Today was the day the final volu of Overlord was released, but I didn't even bother going to a bookstore. I got a ssage from my father, and he said that every bookstore he saw was packed.

I still can't believe how successful Overlord has beco.

Besides that, I also have to go to school today.

I need to talk to Miu about her story. Yes, I read all of it—and it was extrely distressing to read.

It's basically the story of a girl who was rejected by her family from the mont she was born, growing up in a dysfunctional and extrely hostile ho. Her parents divorced when she was four, and later her mother remarried a man who was extrely aggressive.

The story also makes it clear how isolated the female protagonist is, lacking friendships and surrounded by loneliness.

It's a very painful story to read. The kind that makes you uneasy with every paragraph. You feel like sothing bad could happen at any mont.

Fortunately, her story didn't include anything involving sexual abuse or anything like that.

And why am I so relieved about that?

Because I feel like this story was based on Miu herself. The female protagonist's appearance is very similar. The only differences are her height, and the fact that she doesn't wear glasses.

'If this story really was based on Miu's life, I need to know. I need to take care of her ntal state while I still have ti.'

It's not like I'm falling in love with her or anything—I just feel like I need to help her.

"What are you thinking about, Kyo?" Daiki asked.

"If you found out that a friend was living in hell, surrounded by people who don't like them, what would you do?"

"Hmmm… That's a difficult question, isn't it? We're not heroes, after all. We have to think carefully before getting involved in sothing as delicate as that."

"Have you ever gone through sothing like that before?"

"No, never. But if I had to give you so advice… don't get involved in other people's family matters. That can bring you a massive headache." Daiki looked at through the rearview mirror and smiled.

"But if you really care about that person, you should act. You might regret it in the future if you do nothing."

Hearing Daiki's words, I gave a bitter smile.

"Thanks for the advice, Daiki."

"No problem. We're almost there."

The car stopped in front of the school, and I got out. As soon as I entered the classroom, I looked at the slightly crumpled papers in my bag. 'I really need to have a serious conversation with her.'

When lunchti ca, I went to the sa bench as always. I continued writing the script for Koe no Katachi, which is nearing completion. The changes I made start from the final scene onward.

The film didn't end with Ishida noticing all the "X" marks falling from people's faces, realizing that he can now look others in the eye and that his life has changed.

That he has healed.

After that scene, I began to develop the romance between him and Shouko.

They were already close, but they gradually grew even closer.

The secondary characters were pushed a bit to the sidelines, and the film shifted its focus to the interaction between the two of them.

Ishida's affection for Shouko was imnse, evolving from care into a kind of platonic love.

Then, Ishida finally realized that Shouko felt the sa way about him. And on the sa bridge where they t after Ishida "ran away" from the hospital, he confessed to her with a smile on his face.

Of course, in sign language.

In my mind, a beautiful scene unfolded. An emotional soundtrack played in the background.

I smiled the entire ti as I wrote every detail of those scenes.

And after the confession, a beautiful kiss between the two. Not too intense—just the kiss of two innocent people who deeply love each other.

When their lips parted, they looked into each other's eyes and laughed at the sa ti.

After that, a post-credits scene showing the two of them living and growing together.

In the end, a happy family is shown.

A completely closed ending, where even the couple's future is revealed.

'This is the kind of story I like.' I smiled in satisfaction, then noticed that lunchti had already ended a few minutes ago. I had been so focused that I ended up being late. I also noticed that Miu hadn't co.

If she had co here, she definitely would have called —or I would have noticed her presence.

'Is she avoiding or sothing?'

Maybe she regretted giving that story to read. If she really did regret it, then maybe the story was based on her life.

Because when it cos to writing, she has a lot of talent. She wouldn't need to feel embarrassed about sothing like that.

I put away my MacBook and stood up.

As soon as I got to the classroom, the teacher scolded , and I sat down. Everyone around laughed, and I gave a bitter smile.

When class ended, the three girls ca to invite out, but I declined.

I got into the car, and on the way ho I sent the Koe no Katachi script to Toho, so they could decide whether they really wanted to produce the film.

'I'm almost certain they'll want to produce it. I have confidence in my script.'

As soon as I got ho, I took a shower and went to my computer to continue working.

I started drawing Chapter 20 of Dragon Ball, and after finishing it, I wrote a few pages of Volu 3 of Tensura.

After writing at least 20 pages, I stood up and stretched my body.

Then I received a ssage on my phone.

It was from Rina.

[The first recording sessions for "A Piece of My Heart" are scheduled for May 14th at 10:00 AM. I've already added it to your schedule. Do you have any commitnts that day?]

"Oh, that's in a few days. Fortunately, I've already finished the script. Won't the first volu of Oregairu also be released that day?"

I replied:

[I don't have any commitnts on the 14th, just school. Like I said, the only thing I do every day is write.]

A few seconds later, Rina replied:

[Got it. On the morning of the 14th, I'll be there with Daiki.]
