"But why bother?"
Alina put down her teacup and retorted, "The Elf Race is a united and friendly people. Even if Beiya Leila is judged, she’ll only be placed under house arrest. Her life won’t be in danger, so why are you taking it so to heart?"
"To you, it’s just house arrest, but all she wants is to be with her children," Su Xuan said in a low voice.
"I see. Perhaps I just don’t understand those kinds of feelings... familial love, romantic love..." Alina gave a light laugh, then added, "Did Yuluxi ever tell you that I was the one who most wanted to see Rella judged?"
"Yes," Su Xuan nodded.
"Rella and I are both princesses of the Elf Race. We’re rivals," Alina explained softly. "Besides, she did violate the rules of the Elf Race. She should be judged. We can’t let one person break the rules for all Elves."
Su Xuan remained silent at her concise explanation. He hadn’t expected that even the Elf Race engaged in open and secret struggles for power.
"But not anymore. I’ve decided to support her instead." Alina’s tone changed noticeably. She had decided to drop the call for Beiya Leila’s judgnt and was now trying to absolve her. This left Su Xuan completely bewildered; he didn’t know the reason for Alina’s change of heart.
"Why?"
"No reason. It’s just what I want to do. Rella and I are rivals, but we’re not enemies. Of course, we’re not exactly good friends, either." Alina revealed an innocent smile, but this simple answer didn’t satisfy Su Xuan.
"I don’t think you’re like an Elf at all," he said with a frown.
The Elves he had t so far were mostly straightforward, without any deep-seated cunning. Yuluxi, for example, was very direct. Rella had violated the rules of the Elf Race, which might damage the Elf Queen’s reputation, so she wanted to see Rella judged.
But Alina’s actions were incomprehensible. To put it simply, she was like a living riddle.

Su Xuan didn’t say anything more. He stood up and left, not wanting to stay with Alina any longer. This Elf seed pure and flawless on the surface, but her heart might be as deep and unfathomable as the Abyss.
Alina made no comnt on Su Xuan’s departure. She just quietly picked up her teacup and took a light sip.

The Elf Dragon happily circled him, then gently nipped his arm, seemingly trying to lead him sowhere.

Soon, the Elf Dragon led him to the vicinity of the Elf Mother Tree.
A Magic Barrier stood one kiloter away from the Elf Mother Tree, blocking entry, but the Elf Dragon seed to be immune to it.
It led Su Xuan through the barrier with ease, entering the forbidden grounds. This astounded Su Xuan, and he curiously took in his surroundings. Since they were now very close to the Elf Mother Tree, the ambient Magic Power had beco exceptionally dense.
Su Xuan felt as if he had stumbled into a mystical fairyland. Even the grass under his feet seed to possess sentient life. When he stepped onto the lawn, the blades of grass parted one after another, revealing the dark brown soil beneath.
Before he knew it, he had arrived at the base of the Elf Mother Tree.
He looked up and saw that the Elf Mother Tree was laden with countless fruits. They hung high up on branches over a thousand ters in the air, looking only about the size of a fist from a distance. Up close, however, one could see that each fruit was over a ter in diater.

"You want to give a gift?" Su Xuan asked, puzzled.
"Mhm! Mhm!" the Elf Dragon responded cheerfully, a flicker of excitent appearing in Su Xuan’s eyes.
He quickly scanned the Elf Dragon’s treasures, trying to find a gift to his liking. As he was lost in thought, a wooden carving caught his eye.
The carving was of a woman as beautiful as a celestial fairy. Though carved from wood, her Charm was impossible to hide. Her face was exquisite, her figure graceful, as if she were the embodint of all the beauty in the world.
Su Xuan couldn’t help but marvel at the carving’s exquisite craftsmanship and spirit. He carefully picked it up, wanting to examine it more closely.
’This carving alone is so captivating. I can only imagine how beautiful the real person must be.’

The Elf Dragon also sensed that sothing was wrong. It quickly grabbed Su Xuan’s arm with its mouth and pulled him deeper into the tree hollow.
And just as Su Xuan hid, Alina walked into the hollow.
"Why did you sneak back to your nest? We have things to do in a bit."
Alina reached out a jade-like hand and gently pinched the Elf Dragon’s chubby cheek.

The Elf Dragon flapped its wings frantically, as if urging her, ’I know, I know! Let’s go already!’

After so back-and-forth, the Elf Dragon led Alina out of the tree hollow.
