Gu Tiantian nodded to show her understanding and listened to Wang Chun spout a lot of nice words. Although it felt a bit off, it was still better than making her marry Li Zhu.
While eating, Gu Tiantian continued to feed Bai Chenyao. Li Das and Wang Chun sat on the side, eating while occasionally observing her and Bai Chenyao.
They even inquired about the situation from ti to ti.
"Um... Tian Tian, how’s this brother doing now?"
Gu Tiantian nodded; Bai Chenyao seed to be in decent shape, apart from his brain being a bit problematic.
Li Das seed to sigh in relief upon hearing this.
"That’s good. Stay here a couple more days, regain your energy, and then I’ll take you both down to the hospital for a checkup."
Gu Tiantian nodded with a smile and gave her thanks.
From the side, Wang Chun chid in.
"I’ll go as well. If you need an extra pair of hands, I can help out."
Gu Tiantian smiled again and thanked him.
Wang Chun smiled too, albeit sowhat awkwardly.
But thinking about what Doctor Huang said last night and what the village head ntioned later, if because of these two they couldn’t even stay in the village, that would be tragic.
"By the way, Tian Tian, was this brother all normal before?"
As he spoke, Wang Chun pointed at his head.
Gu Tiantian fed Bai Chenyao a spoonful of porridge and nodded.
"He only ended up like this because of the accident this ti. I guess he hit his head when he fell into the river."
Recalling Doctor Huang’s words, Li Das hurriedly reassured her.
"Don’t worry, Tian Tian. Doctor Huang said there’s a blood clot in this brother’s head. Once the clot is gone, he’ll be fine."
However, Doctor Huang also ntioned that the blood clot might not heal, so... whether he can recover is fifty-fifty.
But only a fool would say sothing so discouraging.
After breakfast, Gu Tiantian glanced around, quickly looked down at herself, then at Bai Chenyao, and felt they needed a good cleaning.
"Um, Aunt Wang, is there any water at ho? I want to take a bath. Oh, and A Yao too."
Wang Chun was a bit taken aback, then shook his head.
"We don’t have that much water at ho. The water for drinking and cooking is all fetched from the stream behind the mountain. You guys wait, I’ll go fetch so with Uncle Li."
Although she had expected it, Gu Tiantian hadn’t thought there really wasn’t piped water.
"Alright, I’ll go with you!"
If it were sumr, it would have been fine. They could bathe directly downstream in the stream without having to carry the water back.
But it’s already winter; bathing in the stream is just madness.
After much persuasion from Li Das and Aunt Wang, and much insistence from Gu Tiantian, the four of them went to the stream behind the mountain to fetch water. Gu Tiantian, being small and weak, could only carry a little and walked unsteadily.
Bai Chenyao watched from the side, furrowed his brow, and pulled on her hand.
Gu Tiantian looked back, also frowning.
"A Yao, don’t ss around. We need to carry this water back to heat up for our bath."
Seeing Bai Chenyao still holding her hand and not letting her move, Gu Tiantian simply put down the two buckets, looked at Bai Chenyao, ready to explain things clearly to him.
Unexpectedly, Bai Chenyao mimicked her earlier stance, crouched down, and then hoisted the pole onto his shoulder, trying to balance like she did before, and then lifted the water.
