Cheng Junnan stayed silent, just watching her slowly get out of bed, hunched over like an old lady in her seventies or eighties, shuffling over to the sofa.
Then she bent down, reached out, and grabbed her bag!
She found her phone in the bag and showed a hint of urgency on her face. It seed like she found a number and imdiately dialed it.
"Yes, Grandma, it’s , Tian Tian."
"Uh-huh, on a business trip. There’s been a lot going on at the company lately. Even though I’m just a little assistant, I still have to tag along!"
"Uh-huh, uh-huh, I’ll be careful, don’t worry!"
"Okay, I’ll co back in a couple of days!"
"Uh-huh, have you eaten?"
"Uh-huh, then hurry up and eat. I just finished eating, and now I need to get busy."
"Alright, alright, got it. Bye now!"
******** After hanging up on her grandmother, Gu Tiantian didn’t realize that Cheng Junnan was still in the hospital room.
Logically, after she got out of bed on her own to get her bag and make the call, Cheng Junnan should have left.
As she hung up and looked up, she didn’t expect to et Cheng Junnan’s dark eyes directly.
Huh!
Really!
Is eavesdropping on others’ phone calls fun?
Actually, Gu Tiantian misunderstood Cheng Junnan about this.
Cheng Junnan was originally quite angered by Gu Tiantian’s actions and intended to leave to calm the fury in his heart.
However, when he heard her call her grandmother, sothing just clicked wrongly, and he stopped.
Then, he listened to Gu Tiantian reporting the situation to her grandmother right in front of him.
At five-foot-two, she probably didn’t have a spare ounce on her, but was lean and skinny. Such a small person, yet when lying, didn’t even bat an eye, much less blush.
Oh, well!
Cheng Junnan’s interest was piqued once again.
It was the first ti he saw a girl who only reported good news and not bad news to her family like this.
Forgive Cheng Junnan for his past encounters with won, who were either starlets or upper-class ladies, usually raised like pampered princesses. When they faced even the slightest discomfort, they would call ho crying.
Whenever he thought of those crying fits, so even in front of him, it annoyed him to no end.
Now, listening to Gu Tiantian’s call ho, he found it novel.
Firstly, because Gu Tiantian didn’t blush while lying, even in front of him.
Secondly, because after hanging up from lying, Gu Tiantian faced him without a hint of awkwardness!
Gu Tiantian had no clue what Cheng Junnan was thinking. If she knew, she’d definitely curse!
Damn!
Are you my man or not!
If not, why should I be blushingly awkward in front of you!
She cursed him to hell, he slapped her, why would he expect her to feel awkward?
Must be dreaming!
She glared at Cheng Junnan, pretending not to have seen anything, turned away, and continued shuffling back towards the hospital bed.
Watching her, Cheng Junnan inexplicably laughed.
Maybe because, after so many years in business, it had been so long since he’d seen such a genuine face.
Without any pretense.
As for emotions, they must be genuine.
By now, he sowhat regretted that slap he gave Gu Tiantian.
After all, at nearly thirty, and Gu Tiantian, just a girl in her early twenties.
He couldn’t believe he’d gotten into a fight over just sothing she said.
Cheng Junnan couldn’t figure out why he’d beco like this, nor did he bother to think more about it.
Seeing Gu Tiantian struggling to move, he kindly went over to help.
"Let help you over!"
Just as Cheng Junnan reached out, Gu Tiantian dodged him.
[Four updates finished, enjoy reading, everyone. So asked about the update schedule, generally, it’s between 11 AM to 12 noon if there are no other issues like today’s sudden power outage. We are keeping a pace of four updates every day. The word count per Chapter isn’t much, so you can binge when it’s fatter if you prefer. Still asking for favorites, recomndations, and book reviews. Questions in the review section have been answered in the main text, so Eight Young Master won’t respond individually. With today’s all-day power outage, Eight Young Master is rushing to catch up with writing... boohoo... burning the midnight oil.]
