In the speeding taxi, Feng Yuhuai took several deep breaths, handed the phone back to Yang Tuo, and then took a few more deep breaths, trying to calm her heaving chest.

Yang Tuo sat in the seat next to her, his eyes occasionally glancing over.

Unfortunately, Feng Yuhuai didn’t have a system, otherwise, she could see the prompts continuously appearing above Yang Tuo’s head—"Lust value 1, 1, 1, 1..."

However, at this mont, Feng Yuhuai was disturbed by anger, uninterested in these details, and Yang Tuo was also silent due to so sordid thoughts.

The interior of the car was unusually quiet, with only the magnetic voice of a man on the taxi radio slowly narrating a bizarre and eerie story:

[The man, like a hungry wild beast, suddenly pounced on the woman beside him, filled with primal urge.]

[The woman shyly pushed the man away, slowly got out of the car, and walked ho with light steps. The man, like a shadow, closely followed behind her.]

[The house was imrsed in darkness, suddenly the lights ca on, illuminating the clothes scattered by the bed. Two bodies entwined together, and at that mont...]

[An unforeseen mutation occurred, a strange black hand suddenly reached out from under the bed, the woman, in horror, pushed the man towards the black hand.]

[The man was tightly grasped by the black hand, he struggled and cried out desperately, only to find the woman didn’t look back, she had quickly jumped off the bed and fled the room.]

[The man looked desperately at the disappearing figure of the woman, his body gradually being dragged into the shadows under the bed until it vanished.]

[The next day, the chief constable of the patrol office found a twisted and deford male corpse under the bed.]

[The woman kneeled by the corpse, her sobs filled with fear and sorrow, tears and grief intertwined into a bleak tableau.]

[Everyone knew that it was the man who bravely stood forth during the terrifying occurrence to protect the woman.]

[Three months later, the residents of the community gradually forgot about that shocking event. The woman, sleeping in bed, was suddenly awakened by the sound of running water from the bathroom.]

[She got up and walked to the bathroom, turned on the light, only to see a man standing under the shower, tightly gripping a brush, scrubbing his body vigorously, but the stains never seed to wash away.]

[Decaying skin and dark corpse fluids dripped along with the water, forming a nauseating scene.]

[The man turned his head, gazing tenderly at the woman, and in a voice so gentle it was almost heart-wrenching, he said, "Darling, don’t worry, I’ll wash clean, you go wait for in bed, this ti, don’t leave alone again..."]

The eerie story seed to end, and the taxi had arrived at its destination.

Feng Yuhuai turned to look at Yang Tuo and saw the hunger in his eyes, she concealed her inner irritation and disgust, and softly said:

"Alright, I’m ho. It’s hard to get a taxi here, Yang Tuo, you don’t need to..."

Feng Yuhuai’s words hung at the tip of her tongue, but suddenly it was as if an invisible force forcibly dragged them back.

Her heart seed to be tightly gripped by an invisible large hand, the intense palpitation made her breathless, as if her throat was being choked.

The nightmare of last night lay heavy on her heart, a weight that couldn’t be shaken off.

Since the morning, a sense of unease had lingered in her chest, compounded by the ghost stories she heard on the way ho...they seed unrelated but as if secretly connected, weaving an invisible web foretelling so ominous sign.

She instinctively turned to look out the car window, the familiar street scene before her, filled with chaotic everyday life.

On both sides of the narrow alley, overflowing garbage barrels piled up like mountains, the silhouette of scavengers elongated in the dim light, a few skinny stray dogs sneering nacingly from afar.

Deep in the alley, tin houses closely adjoined the tube buildings, the narrow gaps, clothes hung casually on balconies swayed gently in the wind, like a colorful yet chaotic painting.

The ground was uneven, puddles and filth visible everywhere, the air filled with a damp atmosphere tinged with an indescribable eeriness.

Although she had seen these scenes for over a decade, familiar as the lines of her palm, tonight they seed coated in a layer of eerie shadow, filling her heart with an indescribable unease.

"Yang Tuo, can you accompany upstairs?" Feng Yuhuai retracted the words at the tip of her throat.

She couldn’t explain why she made such a request, but her heart seed to silently urge her.

Yang Tuo barely hesitated, a wave of unstoppable joy rising in his heart.

He gentlemanly exited the car first, carefully opened the door for Feng Yuhuai, and walked ahead of her, clearing obstacles on the ground, kicking the trash to the side as they walked.

He walked ahead, with Feng Yuhuai’s gentle guidance whispering in his ear, her voice like a spring breeze brushing past, stirring warmth in his heart.

He had a premonition that tonight, perhaps the beautiful thing he had been dreaming of would happen.

"Tonight, there’s nobody at Yuhuai’s ho, and she invited upstairs. Could it be that she’s finally moved by my sincerity and ready to open her heart to ?"

Yang Tuo’s thoughts drifted to the story he heard in the car, its marvelous beginning involuntarily speeding up his heartbeat, pounding like drumbeats against his chest.

He nervously swallowed, filled with anticipation and excitent, as if he were about to embrace a significant turning point in his life.

As for the eerie twist and ending of the story, Yang Tuo didn’t give it a mont’s thought.

Just a ghost story, there are no ghosts in the world, surely no one believes that~

Evidently, Yang Tuo did not understand a fundantal truth, that the world is filled with the Ghost Realm, ghosts are rely dead people, while humans are the living ghosts!

In a mysterious mont, Yang Tuo suddenly said softly to Feng Yuhuai, "Yuhuai, regarding the ghost story on the car, if I were the male protagonist, I would willingly protect that girl, even sacrificing my life, and never return to haunt her."

His words revealed a profound promise, as if showcasing his inner steadfastness and tenderness to Feng Yuhuai.

Feng Yuhuai felt Yang Tuo’s words were out of nowhere, simply inexplicable.

However, as she raised her eyes and noticed the tenent building becoming clearer in view, an indescribable sense of tension surged within her heart.

With each step closer, the unease grew stronger like tidal waves, as if the pitch-black building entrance transford into a monster, akin to the black hand hiding under the bed in ghost stories, ready to reach out its claw at any mont.

A voice urged inside her to turn and leave, but her pride was an unbreakable shield, preventing her from accepting being scared by sothing that might not exist, to the point she wouldn’t dare return ho.

"Besides, isn’t Yang Tuo here too, just like the man in the story who protected the woman?"

Feng Yuhuai gently turned her head, her gaze softly falling on Yang Tuo, her lips curled into a slightly pale yet still charming smile: "Mm, I believe in you."

She paused for a mont, then earnestly added: "If I were the female protagonist in the story, I definitely wouldn’t leave the male protagonist behind to flee."

After speaking, Feng Yuhuai trustingly announced the floor and room number of her ho to Yang Tuo.

Yang Tuo nodded heavily, at that mont his phone in his pocket vibrated, he took a glance, it was a call from his mother, likely urging him to return ho.

He didn’t answer, put it back into his pocket, lifted his head, eagerly stepped toward the entrance of the building.

Feng Yuhuai followed closely, but even she didn’t notice, her pace was gradually slowing, with the distance between her and Yang Tuo slightly increasing.

Yang Tuo glanced at Feng Yuhuai, didn’t think much of it, considering it just the shyness and modesty of a young girl.

He empathetically ascended the stairs quickly, the stairway was very dark, he didn’t notice the lock core on the door was shattered, only felt the door was ajar.

The door isn’t locked? Is soone ho, has Feng Yuhuai’s useless brother returned?

His plans possibly spoiled, a trace of anger appeared in Yang Tuo’s eyes, his hand reached for the doorknob and pulled outward.

"Huh, what’s this sticky stuff?"

Yang Tuo suddenly felt an abnormal sensation on his hand, instinctively raising his palm to rub it, the sticky texture made his skin crawl, as if... as if it were the rotten human skin described in the story that the man scrubbed off while bathing.

A bizarre chuckle welled up in his heart, almost making him laugh at his imagination.

Yet at that mont, as he raised his head, he was horrified to find a large, black, clammy hand hovering above his head.

Behind the large hand, a terrifying, hideous face surfaced, whispering quietly to him: "Welco ho~"
