Inside the operating room, the surgery was still proceeding in an orderly manner.
In the VIP waiting room, the conversation between mother and son continued.
In the crowded examination corridor outside, at the end of the queue, the body that had been burned by high temperatures quietly cooled down, leaving this scorching world.
Qian Huan frowned with concentration, his eyes piercing as he stared at his mother, Li Hanyu, his voice carrying a subtle hint of urgency:
"Mom, can’t you just be direct? What exactly is the unspeakable secret hidden in the Second Prison? Since the company decided to invest in the prison industry, isn’t it because of the potential for huge profits for the future?"
Li Hanyu carefully weighed each word, then gently extended her index finger pointing to the ceiling, her voice deep and powerful:
"The company is indeed profit-driven, but don’t forget, above the company is an even larger structure— the Group. For your uncle, sitting in the position of general manager of the company, earning money is important, but even more important is completing the tasks assigned by the Group."
Hearing this, Qian Huan blurted out in surprise, "But the company split from the Group two years ago, I handled the financial separation myself."
Li Hanyu gazed at her son’s dumbfounded expression and sighed slightly in her heart:
"Your abilities are indeed excellent, especially in comrcial profitability with great courage and talent. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been transferred there at the critical juncture when the [Prison Share Reform Agreent] was about to expire. But in other areas, you’re still quite immature."
Li Hanyu didn’t know where to begin, unsure even if she should tell her son, as the hidden matters involved were too dangerous. She could only selectively hint, "What’s the na of our company?"
Qian Huan replied without hesitation, "Celestial Light Capital."
Li Hanyu continued to ask, "And the Group to which we belong?"
Qian Huan answered again, "Bright Group."
Only then did Li Hanyu slowly speak, "So, do you understand now?"
Still puzzled, Qian Huan frowned and said, "What am I supposed to understand?"
Li Hanyu, feeling at a loss, could only make her words more explicit, "This ans that as long as our company hasn’t shed the ’Bright’ character above us, we can never completely escape the Group’s control, nor do we dare, or hope, to truly be detached."
Qian Huan frowned, pondering the depth of his mother’s words, puzzled as he said, "If that’s the case, then why go through the motions of separation earlier?"
Li Hanyu sipped her tea, her voice sowhat hoarse, "Son, you must understand one principle: anything that’s laid out openly, visible under the light for all to see, is just plain black and white text."
She paused, put down her teacup, and continued, "Real deals only happen beneath the table, in places the light can never find."
Qian Huan, looking at the intriguing expression on his mother’s face, suddenly felt a chill, his face paling slightly as he said gravely, "If neither the company nor the Group ever intended to separate, then why did they separate?"
Li Hanyu felt a bit relieved, her son was indeed quite intelligent, understanding more with a little prodding.
Li Hanyu pointed towards the glass wall of the operating room and said faintly, "Actually, you already have the answer in your heart, don’t you?"
Qian Huan followed her gesture, seeing the massive shadowless lamp hanging over the operating table through the glass, he answered with a shiver in his heart, "Because under Bright, there can be no shadows."
Li Hanyu’s face revealed a satisfied smile, yet her tone was filled with murderous intent:
"My good son, rember, Second Prison concerns not just our family, but also our company’s Destiny, and the life and death of everyone."
"If the secret there is properly guarded, it’s our protective charm towards Bright; if it leaks, we will beco scapegoats, and Bright will unhesitatingly cast us out, to be burned to ashes under the light."
"Therefore, you must quickly, firmly, at any cost, take control of Second Prison."
Qian Huan still wanted to ask clearly what the secret of Second Prison was, but Li Hanyu seed unwilling to speak further.
"Oh, the surgery is over, let’s go, we’ll wait for your second uncle in the patient room." Li Hanyu did not give her son a chance to speak again, ending the topic.
In the special care ward.
Qian Tong slowly woke from anesthesia, opened his eyes to see Qian Huan by the bedside and forced a smile.
Qian Huan hastily asked, "Second uncle, you’re awake, how do you feel? Anywhere uncomfortable, should I call the doctor?"
Gasping a couple of breaths, Qian Tong weakened as he said, "No need, your second uncle isn’t that fragile, but it’s thanks to you for modifying the vehicle for this ti."
After talking for a while, Qian Tong finally instructed, "Alright, I’m fine, no need for you to keep watch in the hospital, quickly return to the prison, you’ve just been parachuted there, plenty of things await your handling, rember what second uncle taught you."
Qian Huan nodded solemnly, "All personnel conflicts ultimately boil down to human issues; if you can’t solve the problem, solve the person."
Qian Tong nodded in satisfaction, forcing himself to say tiredly, "Go attend to your work, your mom can stay to watch here."
After Qian Huan left and the room door was shut again, Qian Tong looked at Li Hanyu and asked in a deep voice, "Sis, was this explosion an accident?"
Li Hanyu was slightly taken aback, frowning with doubt, she asked back, "Why, do you suspect it wasn’t an accident?"
Before her words fell, Li Hanyu had already turned on the TV, switching to the news channel.
On the screen, the male host reported in a sorrowful tone, "According to information obtained by our station from the Executive Governnt, the explosion on Qiming Street was caused by improper underground pipeline construction leading to a gas leak. The construction company has been imdiately shut down for rectification, and the relevant person in charge has been temporarily detained awaiting further interrogation."
Staring at the news, Qian Tong’s pale face was covered with a layer of gloom, his voice hoarse, "There’s a problem, the matter was determined too quickly, since when did the Executive Governnt beco so efficient?"
Li Hanyu’s expression also beca serious, she took out her phone, saying, "I’ll call the Executive Governnt now to inquire about the specifics."
A figure floated in Qian Tong’s mind, "Wang Xinfa, mber of Parliant? That could work, he’s deeply involved in the Second Prison matters, considered half of our own, worth asking him."
The ringing of the phone echoed in the silent ward, after a while, the call was connected.
After dialing, Qian Tong nonetheless felt a surge of inexplicable panic, as if he had done sothing stupid but couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong.
"Yes, he just woke up, thank you very much for your concern. Oh, alright, then I’ll trouble Mr. Wang."
The call was brief and hurried, after it was hung up, Li Hanyu’s face beca grave, turning to Qian Tong, she said in a serious tone:
"Mr. Wang has been overwheld with work these days, always keeping an eye on the Hou Wendong kidnapping case. He just learned about the explosion on Qiming Street, and felt sothing wasn’t right, so he’s trying to investigate. He told you to rest assured about recovering, not to worry too much."
Pausing, Li Hanyu then asked, "If it wasn’t an accident, do you have a suspect?"
Frowning deeply, Qian Tong said sullenly, "I don’t know, but the suspicion is greatest with those people in the prison system, after all, they’ve always suspected that the forr warden’s death in the Second Prison wasn’t accidental but rather our doing, so this ’accident’ may be delayed retribution."
Li Hanyu’s heart skipped a beat, a chill rising within her: "Blowing up half a street, causing hundreds of casualties, just to orchestrate an accident to kill you, is there really a need to be so heartless?"
Qian Tong’s voice grew increasingly hoarse, "Sis, you’ve had too few dealings with officials from the Executive Governnt; when these people wrapped in the guise of officials get ruthless, human life to them is nothing more than a number to be casually filled out on a report."
"Later, remind Xiao Huan to be extrely cautious in the next six months, always vigilant against people in the prison system, if they dare to take action against , they might target Xiao Huan too."
Li Hanyu’s grip on the phone involuntarily tightened, her expression earnest and gravely serious, she nodded lightly.
Qian Tong only thought for a while before feeling as if his brain was struck by a heavy hamr, the throbbing and pain becoming unbearable. Feeling depleted, he slowly closed his eyes, falling into a slumber.
Qian Tong did not know, his earlier conjecture was only half correct; the latter half was entirely wrong.
