In the private room, glasses clinked as good wine and fine food were consud, and the atmosphere at the table heated up.

The sense of distance between Feng Mu and the prison guards was swiftly closed under the influence of alcohol.

Of course, this closeness was only superficial; nobody took it seriously. However, this surface-level ice-breaking marked the beginning of many relationships.

For Feng Mu, reaching this level ant that the dinner had already played out 50% of its role.

As for the remaining 50%, it had already begun when they were in the sa private room with Feng Mu.

They would all serve as Feng Mu’s alibi witnesses tonight, to erase his murder suspect status.

Wang Jian ate absent-mindedly, his gaze occasionally drifting to Feng Mu, observing his every move.

Feng Mu seed to be engaged in the most ordinary social activities: conversing warmly with the surrounding prison guards, occasionally raising a glass with camaraderie, and in casual chats, inquiring about their work conveniences and family situations.

In the conversations, he occasionally expressed subtle complaints and discontent about prison work, but these complaints were just right, not causing any resentnt, but instead making his words appear amicable.

This could be seen from the increasingly enthusiastic attitude the prison guards had towards Feng Mu.

But overall, it was very ordinary, ordinary because today’s dinner was just like an ordinary dinner.

This usual dinner made Wang Jian start to question whether his apprehension of Feng Mu was just his own excess sensitivity and paranoia.

However, just as he lowered his head unthinkingly, Wang Jian suddenly noticed that Feng Mu had quietly and silently stood beside him soti earlier, and whispered in his ear:

"Forensic Doctor Qin, are you disappointed you didn’t get to examine my corpse today?"

Wang Jian’s scalp tingled, and the slight drunkenness cleared instantly.

Feng Mu lightly clinked his glass with Wang Jian’s, a playful smile hovering at the corner of his lips:

"Just joking, Forensic Doctor Qin. No need to be so tense. I’ll send you a gift tomorrow morning."

Wang Jian’s corner twitched slightly, his black teeth appearing particularly sinister under the room’s lights: "Feng Mu, what do you an by that?"

Feng Mu grinned and said: "When I first ca to the Second Prison, Forensic Doctor Qin advised not to trust others easily. It’s thanks to this advice that I escaped danger today. I’m very grateful for that."

Wang Jian’s voice beca lower, anger bouncing within each word: "Is this how you show gratitude? Investigating my residence, threatening ?"

Feng Mu was still smiling, but his tone carried more seriousness:

"Forensic Doctor Qin, you’ve misunderstood. I investigated your residence purely in hopes of visiting soday to express my thanks, with absolutely no intent to threaten. I genuinely hope to beco friends with you."

He paused slightly, his gaze becoming deep and sincere: "Real friends, not like Wang Cong, who appears close on the surface but stabs you behind your back."

Wang Jian was silent for a mont, a flicker of doubt passing through his eyes, then he slowly spoke: "Why do you want to be friends with ?"

Feng Mu’s gaze was honest and gentle, and he sincerely replied:

"In terms of work, you are the only forensic doctor in the Second Prison; your importance is self-evident. I hope to have a good relationship with you, which can help learn and progress."

"In personal terms, I feel that you, as a forensic doctor, spend your days with corpses, and I used to work in an incinerator dealing with corpses often. I always think, soone who prefers to interact with corpses rather than living people must be internally more simple and pure."

Feng Mu lightly sipped his wine, a flicker of appreciation passing through his eyes, and sincerely said:

"They say close to corpses have purity, right? So, I like to make friends with those who are simple and pure inside. Forensic Doctor Qin, what do you think?"

Wang Jian was slightly touched internally; he too thought corpses were the simplest and most harmless. But he wouldn’t be naive enough to believe Feng Mu was simple and harmless.

He slightly furrowed his brow, his tone carrying a hint of inquiry: "How can I help you?"

Feng Mu didn’t answer Wang Jian’s question; he was plotting a big ga in his mind. In this ga, the Second Prison’s forensic doctor, the only one able to perform autopsies, would play a crucial role, directly influencing the progress of [Calamity Iron] implentations and the developnt of [Feast].

Of course, Feng Mu wouldn’t reveal his true intentions, as that might terrify Forensic Doctor Qin.

He just gently smiled, his tone warm and earnest:

"I don’t like forcing others to help . In short, Forensic Doctor Qin, we’ll start as friends, aning sincerely to each other. After spending enough ti, you’ll understand that I always open up fully to friends and never let them suffer any loss."

Wang Jian didn’t fully trust Feng Mu’s words, but seeing Feng Mu speak with such sincerity, and without showing any malice, he could only return a smile: "Alright, then may I ask, what exactly is the gift you ntioned?"

Feng Mu mysteriously smiled, deliberately keeping it a secret: "You’ll find out in tomorrow morning. I can only reveal that you’ll like the gift."

Wang Jian had a vague suspicion in his heart, casting a aningful glance at Feng Mu, no longer pursuing the question but feeling that the morning’s gift might very well determine how he would interact with Feng Mu as a friend.

During the talk.

Feng Mu’s phone suddenly subtly vibrated.

He didn’t avoid Wang Jian, taking his phone directly from his pocket, unlocking the screen, and opening the ssage.

The screen showed a ssage from Wang Jian, brief and clear, informing him that he had completed the task Feng Mu had entrusted to him.

Wang Jian initially wanted to peek with peripheral vision but, the words "sincerely to each other" still echoing in his ears, he turned his gaze in another direction.

Feng Mu caught Wang Jian’s expression entirely, his mouth curling into a smile, then without replying, he deleted the ssage, instead entering two numbers and each sending a text.

One ssage was – Send him off.

Another ssage was – The ga begins!

The silent phone screen suddenly flickered, lighting up – Send him off!

In the silent and deep incinerator passage, Chen Ya hung lightly, woven by webs as fine as whiskers, slowly opening his eyes.

The next mont, like a giant spider, he used all his limbs to climb silently up the smooth pipe flowing with corpse oil.

The pipe was long, winding upwards; it took half a minute before Chen Ya manually turned the heavy circular gate, accompanied by a soft tallic sound, and gradually slid into the incinerator’s interior.

Sticking to the cabin wall, his ear trembled slightly for a mont, confirming no one was outside, before gently pushing open the door and flipping himself out.

April 25th, 11:17 PM.

The ghostly prison guard Chen Ya officially ca online for night duty in the Second Prison!!!
