"Would you co with ?"
Kaguya froze for a mont before glancing at Rudy. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. She felt offended and frowned.
"Excuse ?"
"Don't get the wrong idea. But I guess I phrased it wrong." Rudy took a short breath and said, "What I was saying is that since it's your friend, it would be helpful if you ca with ."
"Her fees are cheap, so you don't have to worry—"
"It's not about the money. It's just I would feel comfortable talking about it."
"What… do you an?" Kaguya raised her brow.
"So as I already said, I don't know what I don't rember, but I don't want it to be sothing that… is not… uhh, I an, think about it. Why don't I rember it?"
"Because of amnesia?" she replied as though it was the most obvious answer.
"No, not that. I am talking about the cause of my amnesia. I have not been in an accident or suffered a trauma. Most possibly, my mories seem to have been sealed or sothing," Rudy explained his situation.
Although he was a stranger to Kaguya, he knew her very well and trusted her more than anyone when it ca to support.
"Whatever the cause may be, the spiritualist will help you. Why do you need ?"
"I want to be the witness."
"..."
"I can pay you for it if you want."
Kaguya took a mont to ponder and let out a soft sigh.
"My shift ends at 5. I will let my friend know we are coming."
"Okay." Rudy nodded. "Do I pick you up from the hospital or we et at the address you gave ?"
Kaguya clicked her tongue— not from annoyance, but in a playful manner— and handed her phone to Rudy.
"Give your number. I will call you."
"Great." Rudy added his contact information and wrote 'The Chosen One' as a na.
He thought Kaguya would notice it and ask him to correct it, but she didn't even look at her phone and placed it in the drawer.
"You may leave." She added.
"Okay. Have a nice day, Kaguya."
After Rudy left, Kaguya raised her brow with a confused look on her face and muttered, "Did I tell him my na? I am not even wearing my badge since it's broken."
When Rudy entered the room Rebecca was put in, he had a feeling of nostalgia.
'Yeah, I know most rooms are the sa in the hospital, but it still sses with my head. I don't know, I seem to have developed so sort of trauma. I don't even want to be admitted to a hospital. Maybe as an excuse to et Kaguya, but nothing more.'
Rebecca woke up an hour later and was confused. She only rembered coming ho and sleeping on her bed, but now she had woken up in a hospital.
Instead of beating around the bush, Rudy told her everything and explained the situation. And although she was embarrassed, she was happy that Rudy cared so much about her.
After an hour, Jessica returned to the hospital, and they all left together. The food Rudy had prepared with all his love had turned cold. Although he was still edible, Rudy didn't like the idea of reheating the sa food.
However, to ensure that Rebecca didn't feel guilty about it, Rudy used his power to heat the food without wasting a single drop of water.
Once everyone had eaten, Rudy asked Rebecca to rest, but she denied and insisted on washing the dishes. However, after Rudy and Jessica tead up, Rebecca admitted her defeat and went to her room to rest.
While washing the dishes, Jessica nudged her elbow to Rudy and asked, "Did you really make all the dishes?"
"Yes, why?"
"Uh, huh. I was just wondering since I never knew you could do that." She shot a quick glance at him.
"I have cooked before."
"You have, but these dishes require so hard work. And it takes a lot of ti."
"I was free."
Although it wasn't rare for Rudy to cook for his family, he had in fact never put his all into cooking in this tiline since Jessica's existence was an anomaly in the current tiline. The family dynamics had changed drastically.
Rebecca never had to work night shifts and Jessica always ca over to the house for weekends, so Rudy had less opportunities to cook, unlike the previous tiline.
Of course, he wasn't a master chef when he was in highschool. But after getting into the relationship with Elise, he had to learn to cook advanced dishes to impress her.
After washing the dishes, Jessica went to take a bath, asking Rudy to watch over Rebecca in case she needed sothing, so Rudy stayed in the living room.
He watched television while using his phone. As the ti passed, Rudy got bored and felt like doing sothing.
RING~ RING~
When Rudy's phone rang, he thought it was a call from Kaguya, but he glanced at the clock and noticed it wasn't 5 yet.
He hurried to the living room from the kitchen and grabbed his phone.
"Oh, it's Alice."
He picked up the call with a, "Hellow."
[Hey….]
"What's wrong? You sound… fed up."
[I am.]
"What happened?"
[Why didn't you co to school today? It was so boring. Even Janet was absent!]
"I… had so stuff to do."
[You know, when I noticed you and Janet were absent, I thought maybe you two ditched and went sowhere.]
"Hey, hey, I am not that kind of guy. Obviously, I would let you know."
[So you are not going to deny that you would hang out with a girl who loves you even though you already have a girlfriend.]
"I thought you wouldn't mind if I did that."
Rudy heard Alice sigh over the phone.
[Well, whatever. What's your reason to not co to school today?]
"Mm, mom is sick, so I was taking care of her."
[Is she okay now? How is she doing?]
"Yeah, she is fine. She just needs so rest."

"Yeah."
[....]
"What's wrong? You still have sothing to say, or are you not convinced?" Rudy asked with a soft chuckle.
[I trust you. I know you would never lie to .] After a brief pause, she added, [I want to see you. Can we et?]
"Sure thing. I will co over now if you want."
[No, let's et at night. Like…uh… late at night. Maybe at 2 or sothing.]
"I don't mind a bit, but may I ask why so late?"
[You will know.]
"Oho~ A surprise, I see."
[Don't get your hopes high.]
"Co on~ Whatever you do, I will be happy."
[Wow, you have learned to say so nice things after we started dating.]
"It's not , it's you."
[Maybe~~]
"Anyway, did you call and ask Janet why she was absent today?"
[Yeah, I called her a while ago. She said she woke up late and didn't feel like coming to school. And you know that thing about hero organization?]
"Hmm."
[She said they will keep harassing the students and teacher and get the school closed eventually.]
A smirk appeared on Rudy's face as he said, "Don't worry darling, it's the hero organization that will be closed soon."
[What do you an?]
"I will tell ya later. It's not sothing that can be discussed over the phone."
[Okay, if you say so. Bye.]
"Buh-bye~"
After Jessica finished, Rudy took a shower and went to his room. He patiently waited for his phone to ring until it eventually did.
"Let's. Fucking. Gooo!"
