Chapter 2763: Worried Whisker
Whisker was more than competent enough to battle Alex inside the Battle Mimicry artifact. His control of armies was at a level much more nuanced than just anyone’s.
Whisker had been in real battles multiple tis, and he had been the one taking the help of the battle in those tis as well, which helped him grow as a Battle Master all this ti.
Alex was of course a much better Battle Master than any other person out there, simply because he had been part of wars and had trained with armies during his ti as a king.
He was more than a scary opponent for Whisker, but that was the entire reason why Whisker asked him to fight him in the first place. Only by training with soone stronger than him would Whisker beco a better Battle Master.
Alex defeated Whisker for the third ti in a row, with quite a bit of difficulty this ti around. Whisker had co around the side with a smaller army while making a larger force look like the real one.
He had taken a bite out of Alex’s army before Alex realized what was happening. It was only because he learned about it in ti that he managed to defeat Whisker’s force and then win the war.
They had been fighting for 8 hours straight before they decided to take a break. More battles would continue, but for now both needed ti to take in everything they had learned.
Whisker appeared to be looking forward to getting back into the battles as soon as he could.
“You’re quite excited about this, aren’t you?” Alex asked.
Whisker looked at him for a mont and nodded.
“Do you like these battles that much?” Alex asked.
“No,” Whisker said with a straight face.
“No?” Alex asked in surprise. “Then why do you keep wanting to fight?”
“So I can beco better at it,” Whisker said. “So I can beco better at controlling armies and not be so useless all the ti.”
Alex narrowed his eyes. “Who said you’re useless? Don’t you know how much help you are to all of us?”
“I know, but that’s only when you’re not in danger,” Whisker said. “Every ti you are in danger, it’s always brother Pearl who fights and helps you. I have nothing to add in those tis. I am not strong. I can’t turn into a human. I can’t use weapons. When it really matters, I’m useless.”
Alex saw Whisker’s eyes and knew he ant everything he said.
“Is that why you want to do this?” Alex asked. “You want to control armies for my sake?”
“Yes,” Whisker said. “You tend to have armies around you anyway. Since I can’t fight, the least I can do is help you from the shadows.”
Alex found himself unable to hide his smile.
“I do not think you’re useless to ,” Alex said. “You have helped in so many ways that you might not even realize. But since this is how you feel, I won’t stop you. Learn as much as you can. Beco the greatest when it cos to commanding armies. All I can do is thank you in the end.”
Whisker smiled. “I won’t disappoint you, brother.”
Seeing how Whisker was motivated to improve, Alex spent the next 5 days training with him instead of just the 2 he had initially planned. However, after that they had to get back to their regular journey once again.
Alex went downstream this ti, going past the many cities and sects he had been through previously. He traveled in the day with Whisker, while at night, he fought the many beasts that ca above ground.
Whisker brought out the Elixir-filled sludge each ti, making even more Elixir as they went along.
It was later in the morning on the third day of travel when Alex arrived at his first new city since walking downstream. He didn’t know what the city was called, and neither did he know what sects there were here.
He asked around for a bit before finding out there were two sects in this city. It was not an uncommon thing, with the sects being located on the opposite sides of the cities.
Alex found the one he wanted to go to and headed in its direction.
The River Spear sect was located on a flat plain with tall green grass surrounding it in all directions. Every part of it seed to be covered in grass that hadn’t been maintained in a long, long ti.
Alex arrived in front of the sect in his usual attire, wearing the crimson robes, greaves and gauntlets that were part of the blood armor. His head was mostly covered with his helm as well. The part that should have been visible had also been covered with white cloth, so only his eyes were visible.
Alex walked up to the guards of the sect, each one of which stared at him with bulging eyes. These two seed way too surprised for him to just attack them from the start, so he decided to use his words first.
“I am here to fight the strongest fighter you have,” Alex said. “Go call for them.”
The gaping eyes of the two guards turned into an excited look as they both turned toward each other with massive smiles.
One ran inside while the other turned back toward Alex.
“Please wait here, senior. Our sect leader will arrive shortly.”
Alex paused for a second, being very confused by the hospitality of the guards. Most guards in all the other sects had needed to be beaten before they did anything he asked.
“Why are you being nice to ?” Alex asked. “You don’t know who I am.”
“I do,” the guard said excitedly. “Aren’t you the one going around fighting sects and giving them Elixir, senior? I’ve heard a lot about you. We’ve all heard a lot about you. I cannot believe that you finally ca to our sect. The sect leaders will be very happy.”
Alex was simply too dumbfounded to say anything in response.
