Chapter 2828: Fight Back
Alex’s eyes searched only for the long-faced man he wanted to kill. He found him easily, hiding behind a row of other elders that were moving away.
He launched for him, but there were others already fighting him. They attacked him, their strikes strong enough to crack his Blood Armor. Blood infused back into it, fixing the armor.
At the sa ti, Alex attacked them too. Despite his relatively lesser strength, his sword cleaved through their weapons and their bodies. When blood spilled from them, it flowed into Alex, empowering him.
The more Alex fought them, the more they continued to co attack him. He was sure he had started fighting just a single dozen fighters, but now, there were more than before.
What was happening? Where had the others co from? And why were they stopping him from killing this man?
He looked to the side to see the source of all the new fighters. When he turned, he saw a stream of people making their way down toward the girl kneeling on the sand.
To Alex’s surprise, he recognized her.
‘Death?’ he thought. ‘Right, she’s here. Why is she…’
His mind struggled to put thoughts together, as the pain and constant throbbing distracted him at all tis. He closed his eyes, trying to focus.
Soone struck him right then, sending him down into the sand.
They were going to kill him.
Alex opened his eyes, finally rembering.
They were going to kill Death.
‘What am I doing?’ he thought. ‘I need to help her. I can’t waste my ti trying to kill a nobody.’
Before he could do anything, though, the others ca and stabbed him through the chest. Three more people stabbed him: one in the thigh, one in the shoulder, and one through the head.
Then a last man ca, bringing down his hamr so hard that it cracked through Alex’s armor, caving his chest in.
Alex’s death was more grueso than any of them had wanted it to be, but they didn’t give it a second thought anyway. They turned, watching the sect leader arrive before Death.
He still flew in the air, far enough away so that he didn’t enter her sphere of influence. He didn’t know what she could do should he enter. Staying away was a necessity.
“She will be strong,” the sect master said. “The Scarlet Rain happened because one of the Extolites attacked her too. So be on the lookout, and don’t drop the formation. Even if it looks like she is dead, do not drop it.”
“Yes, sect leader!” all answered.
The sect master raised his spear, ready to kill Death, but at the last mont, he turned around.
The sect master acted in ti, his spear hitting the side of Alex’s sword, parrying it to the side. He was surprised to see Alex next to him, when he was sure he had just seen him die.
Even the others who had been next to Alex were surprised.
“How did he…”
“I crushed his chest.”
“I killed him. How is he alive?”
The sect leader frowned, fighting back Alex’s attacks.
Alex no longer had his armor, but his skin did have a tinge of red to it. He attacked almost thoughtlessly, as though there was no rhythm to them. But the sect leader could tell there was a rhythm. Even more, there was great training behind these haphazard attacks.
If he wasn’t physically far stronger than Alex in these monts, he would’ve likely gotten cut down.
‘No wonder so many of my people are losing their limbs. He’s strong,’ the sect leader thought. But more than Alex, his eyes were on the sword too.
The sword was strong and incredibly sharp. He wondered what sort of master it took to forge a sword like that. The only reason his own weapon stood a chance against the sword was because he was striking the flat side, completely avoiding its edge.
The sect master could also feel so prickling sensation around his body through so motes of light that constantly surrounded Alex. But it couldn’t pierce his skin, so at most it was only an annoyance.
The sect master was slowly pushed back, down onto the ground, away from Death.
Alex continued forcing him back, trying to get a chance to attack the others. If he could only get that chance.
Just then, the chance showed itself.
He used the brief mont of respite to swing his sword toward the n and won in the sky. He had no intention of killing them or even hurting them. The attack was rely to distract them.
Alex saw movent through the corners of his eyes and realized sothing far too late.
The chance turned out to be fake. He hadn’t found it. He was given it.
The sect master used the mont of opening for Alex to attack him. Alex attempted to teleport in response to the attack, but the man’s speed was far too fast.
Alex didn’t even have the ti to fully teleport.
The spear struck the left side of his chest, hitting him like a blow by a god, tearing flesh and bones off his torso.
Alex’s body spun through the air like a ragdoll, falling to the ground so distance away, the other pieces scattering next to him. But then, Alex’s torn torso wriggled slightly as the muscles and bones slowly filled the gaps, healing him from the inside out.
The scene caused every single person in the air to freeze and look at him. Never had they seen anything like this at all.
“How is he doing that?”
“Is that a technique?”
“Must be a treasure. He’s an outsider. They have treasures we can’t even fathom.”
The sect leader was fascinated too.
“Don’t let him get up,” he ordered.
Suddenly, the pressure that had been subduing Death all this ti fell on Alex as well, making his body lose control of its own accord.
“Keep that on him. Don’t let him move. We’ll deal with him after we’re done dealing with Death.”
