Bai Fulin was made to feel rather unwelco in the Azure Dragon’s palace. Despite bringing a direct ssage from her patriarch to the Azure Dragon’s patriarch, she could tell that Qing Zhangru was very opposed to accepting it.
She wondered if he knew what ssage it was that she was bringing to their patriarch. She couldn’t imagine how he would exactly know the ssage, especially given how impossible it was to even remotely believe such a thing was possible.
An Azure Dragon and a White Tiger coming together to have a child was about as ridiculous as her saying she could one day beco the matriarch herself. But maybe, she could.
This certainly seed to be the truth after all.
Despite whatever feelings Qing Zhangru may hold for him, he could not reject the White Tiger patriarch’s ssage and had to deliver it to the Azure Dragon’s patriarch.
It would take so ti for the patriarch to co out of closed cultivation if he was in one, so Bai Fulin had nothing more to do in the Dragon Continent, so she left the continent once again.
She teleported from the Azure Dragon’s palace to the western shore of the Dragon Continent, from where she teleported to the eastern shore of the Black and White Continent, before teleporting back to the White Tiger’s palace.
The entire task had taken her no more than just an hour, so the sun still hung high in the sky at midday.
She flew back toward the palace when she felt a few Divine senses land on her. Mostly they would move past, but this ti she heard soone speak to her.
"Cousin, would you mind stopping by for a mont?" the voice spoke.
Bai Fulin paused for a mont and flew down toward a garden on the southern end of the palace where a few beasts lay bathing in the sun. Most of the beasts were regular felines, but there were a few White Tigers.
One especially was a massive beast laying face down from a small platform in a garden, with its arms folded atop one another.
Bai Fulin landed before the beast, eliciting all sorts of surprise and looks of reverence from everyone around her. Everyone knew who Bai Fulin was. She was the eyes, ears, and fist of the patriarch himself.
Her strength wasn’t the strongest among the third generation, neither was she anywhere close to being the oldest. But what she was, was influential and soone of great status.
Her presence caused everyone to burst out into greetings and well wishes.
Bai Fulin ignored everyone, staring only at the large White Tiger.
"This is a surprise," Bai Fulin said. "Why did you call here, cousin Caoyang?"
"rely to ask you a simple question, cousin," the giant White Tiger said. "Who was that earlier?"
Bai Fulin waited for a mont, expecting the beast to say more, but he didn’t. She gave a confused look. "I don’t understand what you an. Who?"
"Are you trying to feign ignorance, cousin? That color does not suit you."
"Cousin Caoyang, I am a busy individual. If you do not have anything useful to give , I will leave."
"Wait," the White Tiger quickly said. "I simply want to know who it was earlier that tested the purity slab?"
"The purity slab?" she asked, shrugging simply. "I don’t know. I was away on an errand."
"Oh, you missed it then?" he asked.
"I suppose," Bai Fulin said.
"Then I assu you don’t know who it may have been that went through the test," the tiger prompted.
"I don’t," Bai Fulin said. "Maybe it was young Jingshen’s descendant. He recently returned, so patriarch must’ve made him form a Soulfla."
"Jingshen?" the White Tiger gave a slightly annoyed look. "I hate that one. He has no respect for his seniors."
"Yeah, well. What can you do? He hid himself quite well, cruising through the younger descendants as soone of no importance, only to turn out to be stronger than any of us were at his age," Bai Fulin said. "He is arrogant, but he does have that right."
The other tiger remained quiet for a few seconds. "I must go talk to him then. Have you t his descendant? What sort of treasure should I prepare for eting him?"
Bai Fulin smirked. "Don’t bother. The young one is not soone you or the likes will ever like in the first place. Just leave him alone, cousin Caoyang."
Bai Caoyang gave a slightly confused look. "Is he not a White Tiger?" he asked.
"He’s every bit a White Tiger," Bai Fulin said. "But you let your eyes deceive you with stripes and colors. So, just don’t bother."
"I see," Bai Caoyang said. "Well, I suppose I won’t waste any more of your ti then. See you later, dear cousin."
Bai Fulin gave a slight nod before flying away.
The beasts in the garden surrounding the two had remained in a state of stasis throughout their conversation, not a single one of them so much as moving a muscle.
It took so ti before the crowd went back to freely conversing and enjoying their ti underneath the sun.
For Bai Caoyang, however, the warmth of the sun had already lost its touch. His mind had long since moved to places both bright and dark, thinking a thousand thoughts, each individually different from one another.
His eyes narrowed for a bit then widened and then narrowed again.
His head turned slightly in the direction of soone and the beast was already at his side, ready for his command.
The younger White Tiger bowed before Bai Caoyang.
"Tangkai, I hear Bai Jingshen has a descendant with him that is not a White Tiger. See what other information you can gather from that section and bring it to as soon as you can. I want to know who it is whose bloodline test made us all feel inferior today."
"Right away, Father-in-law!" the young White Tiger said and disappeared.
Bai Caoyang closed his eyes and his body softened. A small smile appeared across his face in hopeful anticipation of news he could put to use as soon as possible.
