Behind Bai Jingshen, Alex’s eyes narrowed as he heard what the Patriarchs had to say. The information surprised him a little, not because it was sothing new that he hadn’t heard before, but because he had learned this many years ago.
Rosemist had told him as much.
All Primordials were descended from two earlier beasts that were powerful, but had never reached the God Realm.
A Dragon and a Phoenix.
Alex looked back up at the ceiling, gazing at the beast that was considered the Father of All Beasts. He rembered asking Rosemist a question about it, about both beasts.
Were they still alive? She had no answer.
History rembered little about the Primordials to begin with. Of sothing that ca so much before it, knowledge would certainly be lacking.
The fact that the Azure Dragons had managed to carve as much onto the ceiling here was surprising enough considering how much later they had co to exist.
The group moved on from the hall and Alex followed behind them. A short walk through another hallway led them to another large room lined up with giant seats all the way through.
Alex could quickly tell that this was the equivalent of a Throne Room, the room where all the major decisions in the Azure Dragon Palace were made.
At the front, where there should have been a single seat for the Patriarch, there were now two, most certainly set up this way because of the White Tiger Patriarch’s arrival.
The White Tiger Patriarch turned around and looked at the ones behind him. "You three co inside. The rest wait out here," he said, pointing to none other than Bai Jingshen, Pearl, and Alex.
Bai Fulin showed little to no surprise, but Bai Weiwen seed surprised that he was being made to sit out here. He seed eager to protest but held his tongue.
The other guards were a little surprised as well, and so were the Azure Dragons.
The Azure Dragon Patriarch turned around with a curious look on his face, but he didn’t say anything either. He nodded to Zhangru, giving him alone the permission to enter with them.
The five beasts and single human walked into the room and the door shut down behind them.
The two Patriarchs made their way to the two seats prepared for them while Alex and the rest went to the seats on either side. They sat as close to the Patriarchs as possible, looking around at the room.
Alex felt the soft fabric beneath his palm and could only imagine how expensive just that was. He was sowhat lost in his own thoughts when he heard the two Patriarchs speak.
"So, we should get to the heart of the matter, don’t you think?" the White Tiger Patriarch said.
"We should," the Azure Dragon Patriarch said. "But before that, I hope you won’t mind asking who this young human is and why he has co here with you."
The White Tiger Patriarch’s eyes turned toward Alex for a second, seemingly considering his words, before turning back toward the Azure Dragon Patriarch.
"He is the disciple to the Sword God I spoke of before. He is soone of importance," the White Tiger Patriarch said. "But more than that, he has ford a Bond of Equals with the young White Tiger over there, the topic of our discussion today."
The Azure Dragon seed surprised for a second. "A bond?" he asked. "How is that possible? It should be impossible for a human to form bonds with us."
"Apparently not," the White Tiger Patriarch said.
The Azure Dragon Patriarch wasn’t the only one that seed surprised. Qing Zhangru, who sat opposite Pearl, looked at them with the sa level of confusion as well. But more than that, he appeared a little disgusted too.
Forming a bond with a human was an offense to their existence.
The Azure Dragon remained silent for a while before speaking again. "Why did you let the bond remain?" he asked.
"I had my reasons," the White Tiger Patriarch said. "Sadly, I cannot disclose them at the mont. Please forgive ."
The Azure Dragon shook his head. "There’s nothing to forgive," he said. "You must have a good reason to make this decision, so I shall defer to you in this."
The White Tiger Patriarch gave a slight nod in thanks.
The Azure Dragon turned toward Pearl. "Child, co over here."
Pearl got up from his seat and slowly walked toward the two Patriarchs. He stopped before the elevated step and bowed slightly. "Qing Shouchuang greets his Patriarch."
The Azure Dragon Patriarch seed taken aback by the na. "Qing?" he asked. "Why do you use that instead of Bai?"
"My parents decided upon that na, so that is who I am," Pearl said. "It is not for to decide anything else."
The Azure Dragon gave a weird look toward the White Tiger Patriarch. "You didn’t put him up to this, did you?" he asked.
The White Tiger Patriarch gave an uproarious laugh. "Believe , Patriarch Sunwen, I tried to have it changed when I found out. But the child is fond of his parents and thus fond of his na. I couldn’t get him to change it. He truly is who he says he is."
The Azure Dragon seed impressed enough that he got off his seat and slowly hovered down toward Pearl. Pearl was the size of a regular White Tiger at the mont, slightly larger than the size of a full-grown tiger.
The Azure Dragon Patriarch was also fully shrunken down, and still he towered over Pearl like a gargantuan figure.
His nostrils flared for a mont, his long whiskers behaving as though the beast was underwater. After a mont, his eyes slowly widened.
"Even though I fully trusted your words, Patriarch Zhuqiang, seeing it firsthand, it truly is extraordinary," the Azure Dragon Patriarch said. "I never thought I would ever see it happen in my lifeti, but there truly is a chance. There is a chance for our bloodlines to rge."
