Han ngli was now twenty-eight.
His life had once been one with social interaction, but now, one of the few precious people in his life was going away for a long ti.
His sister had just turned twelve, and so she was now going to start cultivating as well. With how free ti was spread out on the ship, the chances that their rest days would align were low.
Now that his sister was going away, his parents were also away most of the ti, training themselves. The past two decades had been a small reprieve from the war, but they had to return to reality sooner or later.
Alone, the only friend Han ngli had was the woman he had co to love. Although, he was still a bit too shy to say that just yet. He wished to tell her when he bought her the gift.
And he had just about gathered enough Spirit Stones for that.
Han ngli knew he couldn’t get her a simple weapon or armor. So, he searched for an artifact he could buy. He wished to get her one she could use to slay demons, but those cost a little more than he could afford.
In the end, all he could get was a locket with so defensive capabilities. He hoped that would be enough. The next ti he saw her, he would give her the locket and confess his love for her.
A voice rang through the ship at the sa ti, announcing that they had finally arrived at the Five Elents Realm—their destination.
Han ngli found his way to a window on the ship, watching the space outside. The world floated peacefully in the void, a flat shape with a single continent surrounded by water, sharp rocks jutting around the edges to keep the water in.
They had finally made it here.
But things weren’t so simple.
The realm was already under attack. Demons flew in the space above it, already in the midst of a battle against humans. Attacks flew in every direction, colors blossoming in the pitch black seeming more vibrant than anything ever.
For soone who had known nothing but the chro and brown of the ship’s walls and the red of the forge, these colors were sothing he felt he could only ever witness once in his entire life.
The ship sounded with alarms from all sides, calling the fighters to join the fray. Han ngli knew his parents would be among them. They were Immortals, so he wasn’t sure if he should worry about them, but... Immortals died too.
He hoped they would be fine.
He moved away from the window, thinking of what to do next. In such instances, soone who hadn’t even reached the Saint Realm yet would not get an opportunity to do anything to help.
Only Saints and above were asked to join the battle.
Han ngli only belatedly realized that the woman he loved—a Saint—would be joining the battle as well. He hurried through the hallway, making his way to the forge, hoping to find her.
But the forge was mostly empty, most already leaving for the fight.
The locket—if only he could get it to her in ti. A defensive artifact would be useful in battle.
As he thought that, he heard another announcent through the ship. And this ti, it alerted them to an enemy on the battlefield.
The pri nesis of their god, the Dark God, was here.
The Hero of the Demons. The one they called their god.
The Undying God was here on the battlefield.
Han ngli had heard about him a lot. The Dark God was the strongest god when facing this being they called the Undying God. He ran to a window, staring out at the battlefield.
He couldn’t see much from the distance, but he saw one group where many humans were trying to fight a single demon. He tried squinting, looking closer.
As he did, sothing else caught his attention. He saw sothing flash to the side. Another ship had co out of concealnt.
Darkwater flashed with alerts, but before the ssage could co through, the other ship attacked.
There was an explosive sound. And then there was silence.
Han ngli felt hot and then cold as he was flung out into space. Pain flared in his left arm, but that was nothing compared to the pain he felt everywhere else in his body from the shockwave.
The locket he had bought for the woman he loved had kept him alive, but barely.
He spun through the air, flying through space, thankfully in the direction of the Five Elents Realm. But at the sa ti, he was moving toward the battle as well, with dozens of stray attacks flying in every direction every second.
He hadn’t realized how lucky he was that the sun had been behind the realm at that mont, or else he would’ve died much earlier.
He made himself stop spinning, but he still couldn’t do much besides that. As a True Realm cultivator, he had no capacity to do anything out in space. His Qi was being used just to keep him alive—and that wouldn’t last much longer.
Once Han ngli righted himself, he saw the chaos unfolding before him. He saw the battle, and he saw the man they said only the Dark God could kill.
The Undying God.
The man was giant, beastly, with fur growing out of his skin, making him resemble a bear more than a human.
Han ngli watched the beastly man fight. He saw him die and co back to life again. The man ripped through the humans like they were wet paper.
He saw many die to his hands.
He finally beca devoid of Qi and unconsciousness caught up to him. As his mind left him, he saw space split into a hole far away, revealing sothing bright on the other side.
And from it walked out a young man no older than him, holding onto a peculiar glass cylinder with floating silver stones within it.
