Steelmind's heart raced at the thought of owning even just half of the tal. He hadn't even learned much about the tal, but he knew enough right now that this was a deal he couldn't miss.

And yet, at the sa ti, a part of him was appalled at the thought of taking the tal from her.

"I would like nothing more than to accept your offer, but have you given any thought to the fact that we very well might fail in our endeavor?" he asked. "If we fail to create this weapon of yours, you will still need this tal to control your physique's outburst."

His words caused the Alchemy God's expression to beco grim. However, only a gentle smile ford on the Death God's face.

"I understand," she said. "But even if we had twice the amount of tal, it would not be a permanent solution for . And if it isn't a permanent solution, I don't want it."

She spoke with absolute resolution, causing Steelmind to raise his eyebrows. "So if the weapon doesn't work..."

"Then I will just see how long I can survive on my own. If things get too dire for , I do not mind succumbing to the eternal slumber. I was prepared for it long before I even t Littleflower here."

The Alchemy God held her hand tightly, and she turned toward him, giving him a sorrowful smile.

Steelmind was in awe watching the decision the Death God had made. He wondered how long one had to be threatened with death before they ca to peace with it.

He was reminded of his own mortality at that mont, as he too wasn't that far off from dying. With each ten thousand years that passed, he would face an Immortal Tribulation, and after just a few more of those, he too would likely die.

Unless he could break through, he was going to die not long from now as well.

Steelmind made the decision. "I will start working on the tal right away then. I will first need to test the properties of the tal, and once I'm done, I will then need to start working on the technique I will be implenting onto it," he said. "How far along are you in the planning phase?"

"How detailed do you need it?" she asked. "Do you need an actual technique?"

Steelmind thought for a mont, looking down at the tal. "No, I will probably only need the concept itself," he said before turning back toward the god. "A fully ford concept of what you wish for to do. I will do my best to turn that into an ability through Qi lines."

Duskcorpse agreed. "It will take so ti."

"Good," Steelmind said. "I won't be done with testing the tal so quickly either. I will have you stay in the workshop for a few years so you can-"

"No," the Alchemy God interrupted. "We can't stay here for long. The war has progressed beyond what we could've imagined, and we will be needed there. At least, I will be needed there. And I will need to be with her to help her in every mont."

Steelmind nodded. "Then I will wait for you to return. Co back after so ti, and I will hopefully have figured out everything I need to."

The Alchemy God nodded. "How about a century from now?" he asked.

"That works perfectly."

The Alchemy God and the Death God left Steelmind's workshop and returned to aid in the war. Steelmind then gave away all of his tasks, except for the major ones, to his subordinates, and began focusing on the new tal he had received.

His attention at first was on the other tasks that he needed to complete, but as soon as he was done, he imdiately poured his

focus into the crystalline tal.

There were various things regarding the tal that he needed to test, the first of which was how he was going to halve it.

There was no need to refine the tal itself as it was already at its purest form, so all he really needed to do was lt it and take one

half.

But because of the tal's property to absorb any aura that ca close to it, he feared he would mark the tal with that aura and fail

to reverse it.

There were other ways to cut tals, most of which just ant having to use sothing sharp, in this case, other weapons. Steelmind quickly used all the weapons he had, but not a single one could put a single dent in the crystalline tal.

The sturdiness of the tal didn't diminish his enthusiasm about it one bit, though. It only emboldened it. Since weapons weren't working, he used a stronger form of cutting, using spatial blades themselves.

Dragon scales would've likely been a great material to create a weapon out of that used spatial blades, but since he didn't have any, he had to resort to formations.

It took the formations a lot of power to create spatial blades, but for the sake of cutting the tal, he was more than willing to use them. And yet, when he used the formation, he was stunned to find out that

the tal barely had a cut on it.

Sohow, the tal had withstood the separation of space itself with nothing except its physical attributes. It wasn't even as though it had absorbed the spatial aura. It was just that strong.

Steelmind could only imagine what would happen if it were instead an armor soone was wearing, empowered by their Qi. How strong

would it be then?

The tiny cut from the formation was a sign of success, albeit very minor, and after many more cuts, the crystalline tal split in half.

By that ti, Steelmind had learned a lot more about the tal, including its toughness, durability, and structure. The halved tal had no difference whatsoever from what it was originally, so he was thankful that he hadn't just ruined it.

Once he kept half of the tal for the scythe, he was ready to use the other half to learn everything about it.
