After 3 more test evolutions, both Bai Jingshen and Alex ca to the conclusion that the thod worked. A Blood Beast was still enough of a beast to help facilitate the evolution of a beast it used to be.
That ant that Pearl had a solid chance to evolve as well.
The only thing that could ruin it now was so hiccup Alex could not foresee, but at that point what was he really supposed to do? It wasn't as though he could see the future.
Alex wrote down a detailed explanation on how one could improve the bloodline of any beast and gave it to Bai Jingshen to keep it. Bai Jingshen glared at him for a mont when he gave it to him.
"Are you making fun of ?" he asked, holding the talisman.
Alex blinked, unable to comprehend what the beast could possibly an. But then he rembered Bai Jingshen's disability and laughed. "You can just give it to soone who can read it. I assu you're not going to be the one to stay around and help with the evolutions, right? One of your wives can do it."
Bai Jingshen paused and then nodded. "Right, I can do that. I'll still learn it."
Alex nodded. He cultivated for so ti, absorbing the Pill's aura and Yellow Fog's aura into his Origins whenever he could. Their steady progression was all he could focus on for now.
From ti to ti, he spent his hours making pills as well. The ape from the Alchemy Store had been helpful and had given him many ingredients, along with a share of spirit stones that ca from the pills made using the pill recipe he had given.
Alex hadn't thought much when he gave away the recipe. Since learning about the Alchemy God, he didn't put as much of a price on his own knowledge and gave it away more freely than he would've. Still, if he could get sothing from it, he wouldn't refuse.
Pearl had been spending his ti with his father. The two father and son had gotten close in the past year as they talked about things. Bai Jingshen had taken them outside to visit a few nearby cities using artifacts to disguise Qing Tianchui, but they hadn't been too far away. The opportunity for that ca a few months after that when Qing Tianchui's mother finally replied to one of the ssages she was sent. Bai Jingshen arrived with her ssage.
"Your mother is very suspicious of my ssage," Bai Jingshen said with a laugh. "I called her over to the White Tiger's palace, but she doesn't trust us. She wants to set up the eting at a more neutral location."
"Is that so?" Qing Tianchui asked. "Can she co to one of the cities we've visited?"
Bai Jingshen shook his head. "It can't be anywhere the White Tigers have their reaches to. She wants sothing truly neutral."
"Like the Fighting Island?" Pearl asked curiously.
"Could work. I can send the ssage. If that's where we want to go." "No," Alex quickly said before the decision was made.
Bai Jingshen turned toward him. "You have a destination in mind?"
Alex nodded. "In a few months, Scarlet will be out of cultivation. We will have to go get her anyway, so why not et Pearl's grandmother there as well?"
Bai Jingshen raised an eyebrow. "The outside of the Vermilion Bird's palace, huh? I think that can work. I'll send a ssage again. Are we fine with anywhere on the continent or does it have to be near the palace?"
"Anywhere within the continent is fine," Alex said.
"Got it."
Bai Jingshen left.
The reply ca a few days later, accepting the eting request for a few months afterward.
Alex spent what ti he could on his cultivation for those few months before he was ready to leave.
Pearl's father was given an illusion artifact, a necklace he wore that turned him into a regular red snake. Anyone with a strong enough divine sense could see into his true form, which they were hoping wouldn't happen. With his cultivation base, no Divinity would be quick to scan his body, so they were fine.
Once they were ready, they left the White Tiger's palace and made their way to the Vermilion Bird Palace. They teleported over to the city outside of the Vermilion Bird Palace and found the inn where Qing Lainie ntioned she would be staying.
Once they entered, they asked to be shown to Qing Lainie's room. The inn's caretaker, a red-feathered owl, took them to the room. After a few knocks, the door opened, revealing a lavish room on the inside where 3 Azure Dragons lay waiting on large couches.
Bai Jingshen entered first, followed by Pearl. Qing Tianchui entered after the two, staring at the three Azure Dragons in the room, recognizing none of them by their looks. But he could tell the one in the middle had to be his mother.
There was a sense of recognition that ca more from vibes than from mories.
Alex entered finally and moved to one of the empty seats.
"I know why you're here," Qing Lainie said before he could even sit. He remained standing and turned to look at her. She was staring directly at Pearl, giving no one else any mind.
"Grandmother-"
"You're not going to leech off of ," she said. "I have no intention of harboring any parasites."
Pearl froze for a mont, turning toward his father while searching
for what to say, but his father didn't say anything. The illusion made it hard to read his expression.
Pearl turned still. "I am not a parasite, grandmother. I'm a White Tiger. I need nothing from the Azure Dragons."
"Good," Qing Lainie said as she got off the seat. "Since you kept sending letters to co et , I decided to say this to you in
person once again. You may be my grandson, but I have no love for you. I do not care about you at all. Never contact again." Then, she and the other two dragons left.
