Alex looked at the red tal token with the na of the alchemy store etched onto it. It was a similar token to what a naplate in a sect would be, a mix of artifact and formation that would be ever-connected to a larger formation.
"Do you know what this is for?" Alex asked Ronron.
Ronron shrugged. "I don't even know what that is in the first place."
Alex turned toward Greensoul in the back, who looked quite inconspicuous as he just stood around doing nothing.
"It's a mix of things," the Divine Reverend answered. "Partly, it's for the staff to get a commission based on what they manage to sell. At the sa ti, it's to make sure you do not leave now that you've confird that you are going to buy sothing. If you were to discard it, damage it, or try to leave with it, the people of the store would be imdiately alerted."
"I see," Alex said, looking down at the tal token. "That's a nice system. I should suggest my master get sothing like this as well when I et him again."
Alex held on to the token while looking back at the crowd where the bidding continued. The number of active bids had drastically lowered, even though the crowd only continued to grow more and more as ti went on.
Ronron had only bid a while ago and it had already increased even more, getting close to 2 million. She had quite a wide smile as a result.
Alex could imagine how long it would take for the staff to bring out all of his ingredients, so they still had so ti to waste around here.
"I'll go increase it again."
Ronron nodded.
As Alex made his way through the crowd, the people slowly made way for him. By now, these people knew who the actual bidders were, and Alex was one of them in their eyes.
Aside from Alex, there were two other groups that were the actual bidders. One of them was a younger man in the early Immortal Ascendant realm, but he was surrounded by clearly stronger cultivators who kept guard for him.
The other was an older woman who appeared to be alone for now. If she had people around her, they weren't making themselves seen at all. Not that the woman would need any, as she was a Divine realm cultivator herself.
"Hey, you!" the young man said before Alex could make the bid.
Alex turned. "Are you talking to ?"
"I'll give you 100 thousand spirit stones to not bid anymore," the young man said.
"I'll give you another 100 thousand if you don't bid either," the woman added.
"Ooh? 200 thousand spirit stones?" Alex asked with an interested look on his face.
The two nodded.
But then, Alex turned toward the staff. "I'll increase the bid by 300 thousand, please."
The staff accepted his request. "The bid is now at 2.2 million spirit stones."
The older woman's aura flared slightly. "You dare, junior?"
"This idiot doesn't know who I am!" the young man said as well, pure hatred visible on his face.
Alex pursed his lips and turned toward the staff. "I'm sorry, but I feel like my life is in danger here. I wasn't aware your store allowed such violent n and won to enter. If this is the case, then I might have to leave."
The staff panicked quickly and shook his head. He turned toward the other two. "If anyone dares threaten our custor, we will be forced to send you away and ban you from the pavilion's premises. Anyone is allowed to bid. Do not try to stop them."
The two bidders backed away, but they didn't hide the malice in their looks.
"What is it that you want?" the young man asked. "You aren't even in the Immortal Ascendant realm. That flower is useless for you."
"Oh, I'm buying it for soone else," Alex said simply.
"I'll give you pills that can improve their cultivation speed. Just give them to that person. Let get this flower."
Alex lifted his hand. "I'm not stopping you. If you can get it, then go right ahead. Bid all you want."
The woman chuckled from the side.
"Shut it, you hag!" the young man shouted.
The woman's expression imdiately changed. "Say that again."
"I said shut it, hag. Did you lose your hearing in your old age?" the young man asked. "I can see who your grandson gets his brains from."
Several people around the woman were imdiately angered on her behalf, while many people surrounded the young man at once, keeping him safe.
"Hmph!" the woman snorted. "Anyone with eyes can see my grandson is better than you. And once I get him this flower, your gap will only continue to increase. We will then see how you keep insulting ."
"I only need a mouth to insult. So I will keep insulting the Lang family for as long as I can speak," the young man shouted.
Alex could only stare with wide eyes at the two. He had no idea what sort of situation he had stepped into at all. There was clearly so sort of feud between these two families, and he had ended up making himself the enemy between them.
They added bids almost imdiately, quickly raising the price, but the higher it went, the less it made sense for them to continue. Around 2.5 million, they were only wasting spirit stones on sothing whose benefits they could get with just 100 thousand spirit stones and a few years of cultivation.
And as they slowed down, Alex went ahead and added to the bid. It was now at 2.8 million.
The other two bidders could only stare blankly, neither of whom were sure if the flower was worth it anymore. However, their anger and pride kept them from losing out on the bid.
The staff's announcent didn't help their matter either.
"The flower will be sold in a minute if there are no new bids."
