Now reading: Chapter 105: Encounter! from Eternal Life: I Rely on Fortune Points for Improvement, a Eastern novel by Ancient Fat Dragon.

Jiang Feng finished speaking, pretending to look anxious.

He turned to Chief Wang and said, "Quick, gag his mouth. Don’t let him ramble on anymore."

"Wait."

Bao Longwei sensed sothing was off and asked, "Who is he, and why would his words anger Grand Commander Han?"

"Uh... Lord, I really don’t know much. I just know that whenever this man speaks, Grand Commander Han gets upset, so I told them to gag him."

Jiang Feng bowed his head and replied.

"Chief Hu, what’s going on?"

Bao Longwei had no choice but to ask Chief Hu.

Chief Hu was stunned for a mont and could only say, "Lord, this man is Duan Kun, a Blood Skull, a rebel from the Red Lotus Sect. Apparently, he’s involved in the matter of Grand Commander Han’s sect being exterminated."

"Damn Daoist! No one can save you! I’ll tear off your hands, how does that feel? Is it fun, does it feel good? Hahaha!"

Blood Skull kept screaming and shouting.

Desperate for his voice to echo throughout Zhenbei Prison.

"Gag his mouth."

Bao Longwei instantly understood and ordered, "From now on, keep a close eye on him. Without my orders, no one is to go near him, especially Grand Commander Han. Do you understand?"

"Yes!"

Chief Hu and the others answered.

Bao Longwei turned and walked out of Zhenbei Prison.

"Lord, let escort you."

"No need. Stay here and watch him. Absolutely do not let Han Dong get near him."

"Yes!"

Chief Hu and his group could only watch as Bao Longwei left.

Once Bao Longwei’s figure had vanished,

Jiang Feng had already told Chief Wang to gag Blood Skull’s mouth. He gossiped to Chief Hu, "Lord Hu, what’s wrong with Lord Bao? Why is he as angry as Grand Commander Han?"

"Hmph, if you ask who should I ask? Go mind your own business."

Chief Hu snorted coldly.

He couldn’t tell if Jiang Feng was really dumb or just pretending.

"Yes."

Jiang Feng looked aggrieved and hurried off with Chief Wang and several others.

And so, Chief Hu and Mao Daming personally guarded Blood Skull’s cell door, preventing Han Dong from getting close.

At dusk,

just as the shifts were about to change,

Bao Longwei returned to Zhenbei Prison.

But this ti, a group of Dali Temple officials followed behind him.

"This is Blood Skull, one of the Red Lotus Sect’s Squad Leaders, you’ve been hunting him for years over at Dali Temple. I believe you can dig out plenty of important information from him."

Bao Longwei said.

"Thank you, Lord Bao. If we apprehend any rebel mbers, we will certainly report to the Holy Emperor, and the credit will be yours too."

The Minister of the Ministry of Justice bowed in thanks.

"Good."

Bao Longwei nodded.

He then had Chief Hu hand over Blood Skull to the Dali Temple officials, letting them bring Blood Skull to the Dali Temple Prison for incarceration.

"Lord Director, Blood Skull was sent by the Dragon Capital Governnt Office. If you hand him off to the Dali Temple, what if the Governnt Director cos looking for us for the prisoner, then..."

Chief Hu felt uneasy.

He’d assud Bao Longwei was just investigating the truth behind Han Dong’s sect being wiped out; he hadn’t expected him to summon the Minister of the Ministry of Justice to hand Blood Skull over to the Dali Temple.

"Then let them go to Dali Temple for interrogation."

Bao Longwei replied firmly.

"Yes."

Chief Hu dared not say more.

He could only watch helplessly as the Minister of the Ministry of Justice led Blood Skull out of Zhenbei Prison.

"If any more Red Lotus rebel mbers are locked up here in the future, notify at once."

After sending away the Dali Temple officials, Bao Longwei turned and instructed Chief Hu.

"Yes!"

Chief Hu answered quickly. He could clearly sense Bao Longwei’s attitude toward him had changed, now tinged with suspicion and dissatisfaction, as if discontented with his performance.

Once Bao Longwei was gone,

Chief Hu’s face darkened.

He muttered to himself, "How did I not figure this out earlier... if Grand Commander Han killed Blood Skull, I’d be liable too, not just Grand Commander Han, but also Lord Director of the Prison.

I seem to have offended both of them now."

"Don’t overthink it. I didn’t do anything in this matter."

Chief Hu tried to comfort himself.

Inside Willow Alley,

Jiang Feng returned ho.

He checked his status panel.

Na: Jiang Feng

Fortune: 39238

Cultivation Technique: Tai Chi Longevity Skill (Proficient)

Skills: Prison Guard Long Fist (Minor Achievent ) Divine Arrow (Great Success ) Loulan Slash (Beginner )

Realm: Second Grade (Refining Essence)

Divine Power: Immortality

"Over three thousand more points gained, just over seven hundred to hit forty thousand. I wonder, once I reach forty thousand, will Tai Chi Longevity Skill show a plus sign after its level?"

Jiang Feng mused to himself.

Nowadays, he craved more strength.

Getting stronger, and stronger still.

"This ti, the risk wasn’t small for . If Sister Dong had killed Blood Skull, she wouldn’t be in danger, but I’d end up with a lot of trouble."

"Chief Hu kept Blood Skull in the cell under my jurisdiction. Who knows if soone told him to do so."

"Sigh! I thought getting close to Sister Dong would help avoid trouble, but now it turns out to be a burden."

"If this really was all orchestrated by the Second Prince, why target Sister Dong? I already cleared her of suspicion. Could all this be just because of Xiao Ran’s relationship with her?"

Jiang Feng furrowed his brow.

Feeling the situation growing dire.

"Maybe things are far more complicated than I imagined. The Second Prince wields imnse power at court and surely isn’t one to chase after Sister Dong just for Xiao Ran. Pushing her too far wouldn’t do him any good. Or could this be the work of the Seventh Prince?"

Jiang Feng was startled inside.

"Whoever’s going after Sister Dong, I just hope they don’t target Zhenbei Prison, or I’ll get caught up in it."

Jiang Feng couldn’t figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it.

After all, they’re targeting Han Dong, not him.

The next day,

Jiang Feng returned to Zhenbei Prison.

He ran into Han Dong again.

Han Dong already knew that Blood Skull had been taken by the Minister of the Ministry of Justice, all orchestrated by Bao Longwei. She understood his intention.

On the surface, Han Dong had regained her composure.

She just nodded lightly at Jiang Feng and went off with Chief Hu and the others to patrol in and around the prison.

She seed to have changed.

Unlike before, she no longer shut herself in her room cultivating, ignoring worldly affairs.

Instead, she started dealing with the prison’s daily matters, and managed her subordinates more strictly—clearly aware that soone was targeting her.

She didn’t want to give anyone an excuse on her job.

Seeing Han Dong like this, Jiang Feng felt nothing but relieved.

This way, if soone kept coming at Han Dong, he could avoid being dragged into it.

In the blink of an eye, five days passed.

Jiang Feng’s Fortune Point kept rising by several points each day as usual. At this pace, if nothing happens, he’d reach forty thousand in about three months.

Maybe then he’d be able to further raise his cultivation.

But things never go as planned.

When Jiang Feng finished his shift and left Zhenbei Prison, he ran into the one person he dreaded eting, and the last he expected to run into.

Duan Kun, Red Lotus Sect rebel!

Blood Skull!
