Now reading: Chapter 70: Despicable and Shameless Cyan Yuan Sect from Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi, a Eastern novel by Drunken Laughing Zen Known Afar.

Night fell.

Outside the T-shaped Room, several figures appeared silently, sneaking in from a secluded spot.

SNAP!

A trap snapped shut. The figure caught in it instinctively cried out, but soone behind him imdiately clamped a hand over his mouth, silencing him.

"Don’t shout! It was hard enough luring Luo Yu and the others away. If you scream, they’ll co right back."

The figure behind him warned in a hushed voice.

After learning what Yang Chan had done, the Three Major Sects decided to join forces to kill him and avenge their losses.

In truth, the Three Major Sects would have preferred to kill Inner Refining Elder Lü Zhenghai. But Lü Zhenghai was not an easy target. To assassinate an expert of the Inner Refining Grandmaster Level, they would need to dispatch more, and even stronger, n.

There were few within the Three Major Sects whose cultivation surpassed Lü Zhenghai’s. If such a figure were to leave their mountain, they would likely be intercepted by Liu Xuan and his people on the way. Thus, they could only target Yang Chan first.

This was also a deliberate show for the disciples of the Three Major Sects. After all, the sects were not in a good state. If they couldn’t even kill a re Cyan Yuan Sect Pharmacist who had caused so many deaths, their morale would surely crumble further.

And these n in black were the ones sent to assassinate Yang Chan. They had even arranged for soone to lure away the Direct Disciple Luo Yu and his n.

The man with his mouth covered quickly nodded. Though tears stread from his eyes in pain, he held it in, knowing the mission was paramount.

Another man in black knelt to help pry the trap open. The bone was already visible where the jaws had clamped down. He could only give the weeping man a pitying look before quickly bandaging the wound.

"Keep moving. Assassinate Yang Chan first."

The leader of the group ordered.

The others saw this, nodded, and proceeded forward.

THWACK!

The man who had just been caught in the trap was still instinctively holding his mouth when a crossbow arrow pierced his heart. As his body fell, the person behind caught him.

The man’s body twitched a few tis before he stared wide-eyed, his breath gone. He died with a look of disbelief.

"Damn it! How could the Cyan Yuan Sect be so treacherous, setting traps in a place like this? Everyone, be careful."

The leader cursed angrily under his breath.

They hadn’t even seen Yang Chan, and one of them was already dead. It was infuriating.

They could only hide the man’s body in the shadows and continue toward Yang Chan’s room.

At this point, he no longer wanted to just end Yang Chan’s life with a single stab. He wanted to dismber him to vent his rage.

Initially, the Three Major Sects hadn’t planned on sending assassins. However, various poisoning attempts had all failed to harm Yang Chan. Instead, they only managed to expose so of their hidden agents in Taiyu City. These agents were maids, servants, and the like within Qinghan Mansion, so deeply embedded that they hadn’t been rooted out before.

These people were not to be used under normal circumstances, only activated in ergencies. It was a asure left behind from when the Three Major Sects controlled Taiyu City, a secret unknown to others.

Even Qian Tu, Zhao Qiyang, and the others were unaware of their existence. Before being activated, they were just ordinary maids and servants, most of whom had no cultivation at all, allowing them to better conceal their identities.

They were activated for the mission to kill Yang Chan, but not only did they fail to poison him, several of them were caught. This prompted the Cyan Yuan Sect to replace them and launch a detailed investigation.

The reason for this was that Yang Chan tested everything he ate and drank for poison. Whenever a stranger approached, he had them sent away. These maids and servants never even got a chance to get near him.

He hadn’t even returned to his own Pharmacist’s quarters for several days, staying in the T-shaped Room the entire ti. There was simply no opportunity.

With no other choice, they had to arrange for a direct assault. The risk was greater, but by now, the Three Major Sects were in a position where they couldn’t back down.

In their eyes, Yang Chan was just an Official Disciple who had comprehended the Wild Ox Force—a person of ager strength. If they couldn’t even kill soone like him, the Three Major Sects would lose all face.

Failing to kill Lü Zhenghai was one thing; that could be excused. He was an Inner Master, powerful and difficult to kill. But Yang Chan was different.

How many people in the Three Major Sects had the sa level of cultivation as Yang Chan? Every year, many comprehended Power and beca Official Disciples. To spend days trying and still fail to kill a single person like that was a true disgrace.

The leader of the n in black was under a death order: he didn’t have to bring his n back, but Yang Chan had to die.

Otherwise, they would all be ’left behind’ in Qinghan Mansion.

The aning was perfectly clear.

The group continued to advance through the shadows. After just a few more steps, another man fell. He had stepped on a trap, and several steel needles had pierced the sole of his foot. He was caught before he could hit the ground and make a sound. A mont later, he foad at the mouth and went silent.

"They’re poisoned, too! The Cyan Yuan Sect is truly despicable!"

The leader saw what had happened and cursed under his breath again.

He had never imagined they would lose two n just sneaking in at night. This was rely the courtyard of a Basic Level Pharmacist, yet it was filled with so many traps. If this were an Interdiate Pharmacist, how formidable would the defenses be?

’No wonder the agents the Three Major Sects planted in Qinghan Mansion were discovered,’ he thought. ’With so many tricks, any suspicious person would be exposed in minutes.’

In his eyes, the Cyan Yuan Sect didn’t just have many experts; they also had countless, rather dirty, tricks.

"Chief, this is Yang Chan’s room."

One of the n in black pointed to a room and whispered, his tone laced with hatred.

On the way over, yet another man had fallen into a trap. He wasn’t dead, but his injuries were not light.

He himself had been hit; a flying needle had pierced his palm. Luckily, it wasn’t poisoned, or he would have been done for as well.

Now, seeing Yang Chan’s room, he naturally wanted to kill the man to vent his own frustration.

"Use the knockout smoke!"

The chief nodded and gave the order.

Two of the n licked their fingers and began to poke a hole in the paper window. The paper was quite thick, however, and it took several licks before they finally broke through.

They took the prepared smoke tube from their robes, but just as they placed it against the hole, they went still.

"Blow!"

The chief urged them on, seeing them hesitate. This was no ti for delays.

When they still didn’t move, he clapped one on the shoulder, only then realizing sothing was wrong.

The two n collapsed. A closer look revealed they had been poisoned.

"Shaless, despicable Cyan Yuan Sect! To even poison the window paper! Truly despicable!"

The chief said hatefully, looking at the two n bleeding from their orifices.

He’d never imagined soone would poison the window paper itself. ’What, was he afraid soone might try to eat it?’

’What if so unsuspecting child were to ingest it?’

"You two, hurry up and use the smoke."

After setting the two bodies down, he had two other n take their place. They still had to keep the noise down. That was the only way they would have a chance to escape after succeeding.

Otherwise, if they made a commotion, they were all as good as dead.

If they didn’t want to die, they had to be quiet.
