On the surface of the Dark Gold Pillar, an indentation suddenly appeared, transforming into a hidden compartnt about half a foot square.
Ling Changqing cautiously bent down to inspect it, discovering a palm-sized Black Jade Pill Bottle inside.
He reached out to touch it, and when there was no adverse reaction, he simply took it out.
"It’s sothing good, isn’t it? Let see?"
As Ling Qiyue spoke, she took the Pill Bottle from his hand. The bottle was exquisitely crafted, its material giving off a faint, warm sensation. The Spiritual Light from the Seal on the stopper glimred brightly.
However, this sealing Restriction was only ant to prevent the elixir’s efficacy from dissipating; it served no other purpose.
Ling Qiyue thought for a mont, then tried to twist open the lid. A rich dicinal fragrance imdiately wafted from the mouth of the bottle.
Inside the Pill Bottle were ten golden Elixirs, each the size of a longan.
"This... should be a Third Rank Low Grade Healing Elixir, focused on physical recovery..."
Ling Qiyue examined it for a few monts, her tone uncertain.
She was now a Third Rank Alchemist, so she could naturally determine the general purpose of this unfamiliar Elixir. Its other properties, however, were still unclear.
However, a Third Grade Elixir corresponded to the Golden Core Level and was already considered an exceptionally precious resource.
Ling Changqing said, "Then let’s put it away for now. We can study it more closely once we’re back!"
Although tens of thousands of years had passed, the types of Spirit dicine and Spiritual Herbs that grew in this realm hadn’t changed much.
The Pill Formulas used by Vast Sea Dark and Bright City were certainly different from those of the current orthodox powers, but many of the raw Spirit dicine ingredients were universal.
Therefore, as long as Ling Qiyue had enough ti, it wouldn’t be difficult for her to figure out the detailed properties of these Elixirs.
Of course, if they could find a fortuitous opportunity like Pill Formulas and Recipes here, things would be even simpler.
"Shall we go check the next pillar?"
Ling Changqing suggested.
"Wait,"
Ling Qiyue protested, "You’ve already had a turn. I should get a chance too, right?"
"Ah, you’re right!"
Realizing his oversight, Ling Changqing pulled back the foot he was about to move forward.
Ling Qiyue followed his example. Concentrating and Calming the Mind, she used her Divine Thought to try and communicate with the pillar’s interior.
However, she tried for a long ti until more than half of her Power of Divine Thought was consud, yet the Dark Gold Pillar gave no reaction.
"How strange. What’s going on?"
Ling Qiyue studied the pillar in confusion, her eyes filled with frustration.
"Forget it. Let’s go check the next pillar."
Ling Changqing said. Besides, there were so many pillars in the grand hall; they were bound to have other opportunities.
The two of them moved to the second Dark Gold Pillar. Ling Changqing followed the sa procedure, extending his Divine Thought into the pillar’s interior to communicate with it.
A mont later, with a soft CLICK, an indentation appeared on the pillar’s surface about seven feet from the ground. It imdiately transford into a hidden compartnt about a foot square.
Ling Changqing reached into the hidden compartnt and pulled out a silver-gray Treasure Box. The Spiritual Light of the Restriction Seal on its lid flickered.
He briefly probed the Restriction with his senses, then opened the box. Inside, resting on a white jade lining, was a large handful of powder as fine as sand. It gave off specks of golden starlight under the glow of the luminous pearls.
"This appears to be Moon Shadow Bright Star Sand, an auxiliary Spirit Gold Material used when Refining Middle to Low Grade Magical Treasures."
Ling Qiyue said, satisfied.
Not much of it was needed; mixing in just a small amount could increase a Magical Treasure’s power by ten to twenty percent.
Whether they used it themselves or sold it, taking it back would be an excellent choice.
"Alright, Ling Qiyue, your turn?"
Ling Changqing put away the Treasure Box and stepped back, letting Ling Qiyue try again.
This ti, however, her luck was no better. After a few monts of effort, she still ca up empty-handed.
Ling Qiyue’s expression turned glum. Arriving before the third pillar, she said:
"I refuse to believe it! Let go first this ti!"
Ling Changqing nodded, letting her try first.
This ti, there was finally a different result. With a soft CLICK, a hidden compartnt appeared on the pillar’s surface about a foot from the ground.
Beaming, Ling Qiyue reached into the compartnt and pulled out an exquisite, beautiful Red Jade Hairpin that was brimming with Spiritual Light.
"A Low Grade Spiritual Artifact? That’s it?"
The disappointnt in Ling Qiyue’s eyes was impossible to hide. Every single one of Ling Changqing’s rewards had been more precious than hers.
’It’s really... so disheartening!’
"Alright, my turn!"
Ling Changqing said, stepping forward to try.
This ti, the prize inside the hidden compartnt was a brilliantly glowing Jade Pendant, about half the size of a palm. It was at the Top grade Spiritual Artifact Level.
Once refined, the item could automatically protect its master in a crisis, blocking up to three fatal attacks.
"Excellent. This is perfect for you. You should refine it now!"
Ling Qiyue smiled. She was, of course, delighted that Ling Changqing had another life-saving asure.
As for the Red Jade Hairpin, she had no interest in it at all and gave it to Ling Changqing as well.
And so, the two of them continued to take turns, testing one Dark Gold Pillar after another.
Ling Changqing got rewards from the fourth and fifth pillars. It was only at the sixth pillar that he was t with failure for the first ti.
"Heh, so your Destiny isn’t infallible after all, huh?"
Ling Qiyue finally regained a bit of her confidence, teasing him with a grin.
"That’s perfectly normal. A boost from Destiny isn’t omnipotent. There are bound to be tis when it fails."
Ling Changqing didn’t feel particularly dejected. ’I’ve already gained so much,’ he thought.
This ti, Ling Qiyue obtained a Jade Scroll. It recorded Rank One and Two Pill Formulas. While not hugely useful to her, it still had so reference value.
The two continued their attempts, taking an Elixir to recover whenever their Power of Divine Thought was mostly depleted.
