The male cultivator asked with a smile. A three-foot-long Flying Sword, the color of blood, hovered before him, its chilling killing intent held in check.

"Wang Chang'an,"

Ling Changqing said slowly, "So many of you are posted here. What could be your purpose, Fellow Daoist?"

As he spoke, Gong Ling sensed, just as expected, that various subtle, probing Divine Techniques were scanning him. Their intentions were obvious.

Feng Zhenglong chuckled. "Fellow Daoist Wang, you must also be here for the opportunity at the main peak's summit, correct? But don't worry, we're just tracking down a certain important person."

He waved his hand lightly, signaling his n to clear a path.

The Female Cultivator beside him, however, chid in with another question. "Since you're from the Deep Sea Dragon Race, do you happen to know a Ling Changqing?"

"He's one of the Patriarch's people. Of course, soone on the fringe like wouldn't know him."

Ling Changqing shook his head, his expression impassive as he spoke.

Feng Zhenglong nodded. "In that case, Fellow Daoist Wang, you may leave!"

Within any major power, intense internal competition and factional strife were commonplace. The Dragon Race was no exception.

Therefore, Feng Zhenglong didn't doubt Ling Changqing's explanation. After all, within his own Feng Family, he and the designated Immortal Seeds couldn't stand each other and were constantly engaged in open and secret conflicts.

Ling Changqing nodded indifferently, his mind focused and on high alert as he strode quickly through the path they had opened.

However, just as he began to put so distance between them, a dozen Flying Swords and an assortnt of Divine Techniques rained down all at once, engulfing his figure.

"All mbers of the Dragon Race deserve to die!"

A cold sneer appeared on Feng Zhenglong's face.

In Dragon Soul Valley, one didn't need much of a reason to kill a cultivator from another family.

'Especially a lone straggler like this one. If I don't kill him now, should I just let him live to compete with my own family for opportunities later?'

A breath later, however, cries of alarm rang out.

A vast cloud of high-temperature fire erupted from the spot where Ling Changqing had disappeared, instantly blanketing the area. Streaks of blood-red lightning crashed down relentlessly, and agonizing screams filled the air.

"You bastard!"

Feng Zhenglong roared in fury as several layers of light screens manifested around him, blocking the sudden assault in the nick of ti.

However, the assault was too ferocious. Aside from him and the woman, who barely managed to withstand it, nearly all the other Feng Family disciples were wiped out.

"It's you? How could you…"

The woman could now faintly make out the situation, her cry laced with deep-seated terror.

'That Dragon Race Cultivator had actually survived? And erged unscathed from the ambush by the Feng Family disciples?'

Two Daoist Soldier Puppets clad in Heavy Armor and wielding Giant Shields and War Axes strode out from the depths of the fire cloud, charging to encircle Feng Zhenglong.

Imdiately after, Ling Changqing stepped out. The two Flying Swords at his side carved an arc through the air, slashing viciously at the Female Cultivator from a treacherous angle.

Breaking out in a cold sweat, she gritted her teeth and summoned a Crystal Lamp. It pulsed, creating several layers of inner and outer Light Shields to block the sword light's assault. Simultaneously, she threw two Second Grade Talismans that glowed with a crimson light.

The Talismans ignited upon eting the air, instantly transforming into a flock of Fire Crows that sward around Ling Changqing.

But they couldn't break through the defense of Ling Changqing's Glazed Yellow Umbrella. Judging by the rate its light screen was being consud, it could easily hold for another thirty to fifty breaths.

"Ti for you to go!"

More Talismans flew from the Mysterious Jade Scroll in Ling Changqing's hand, transforming into streaks of blood-red lightning that rained down relentlessly.

Three breaths later, the Female Cultivator's Defense shattered, and the lightning strikes reduced her to a charred corpse.

By now, the light screens protecting Feng Zhenglong had also mostly shattered. He was in a wretched state, his life hanging by a thread under the pincer attack of the two Daoist Soldier Puppets.

"Damn it, you… Who in the world are you?"

The man roared in panicked fury. Had he known this Dragon Race Cultivator was so dangerous and tenacious, he never would have provoked him.

'A terrifying figure like this shouldn't be a complete unknown.'

"Forget it. The dead don't need to know much."

Ling Changqing snorted coldly, his assault never letting up. A few breaths later, he and his Daoist Soldier Puppets combined their strength and cut Feng Zhenglong down.

With that, tranquility returned to the area.

Even after the battle ended, however, Ling Changqing dared not relax. He looted the bodies with utmost speed, collecting all the undamaged Storage Magical Artifacts from the dead cultivators, before making a hasty departure.

Other cultivators could pass by at any mont, and Ling Changqing couldn't afford any further complications.

...

Barely a quarter of an hour later, another group of cultivators rushed over from halfway up the mountain. They froze at the sight of the bodies covering the ground.

"...Huh? Aren't these all cultivators from the Feng Family?"

The burly man in the lead had a grim look, his brows tightly furrowed.

A delicate-featured youth leaned in to investigate for a mont before saying in a low voice,

"They haven't been dead long. And it looks like… the attacker was a single person?"

The burly man's expression flickered with shock. "One person? Which family's chosen prodigy could it be?"

The youth replied, "It's impossible to be certain. The attacker seems to have used a large number of Talismans in conjunction with Daoist Soldier Puppets but showed no obvious signs of any family's signature Cultivation Technique Divine Techniques."

"Heh, that extravagant with their wealth? Sounds a bit like the style of a Dragon Race Cultivator, no?"

"That's a definite possibility."

"Forget it. Let's not waste ti on these dead n. We need to keep moving! Who knows, maybe we'll get to et this formidable figure at the summit of the main peak!"

With that, the burly man led his clan's disciples onward toward the summit.

Not long after they departed, another group of cultivators arrived in a rush.

The woman in the lead had a pure and lovely face, but her figure was as voluptuous and graceful as a mature beauty's. It was none other than the Dragon Race's Eleventh Princess, Luo Qingning.
