Feng Boyi is dead.
Chen Tang stopped in his tracks and looked back, only to find that Ming Yue Wanderer and Ghost Concealnt Ah Li were nowhere to be seen.
They arrived suddenly and disappeared even faster.
Even the bodies of the Moonlit Guard, that Celestial Concealnt, and Yu Ming True Master on the ground were gone.
"Was it Ming Yue Wanderer who just acted?"
Ye Yushi panted slightly, sheathed his sword, and asked, "Perhaps Military Lord Shen Che was worried sothing might go wrong, hence the arrangent?"
Chen Tang was pensive, lost in thought.
"But what was with that Ghost Concealnt just now?"
Ye Yushi was sowhat puzzled and asked, "Why did she kill the Moonlit Guard and then disappear?"
In Ye Yushi’s view, the Ghost Concealnt ca with that Celestial Concealnt.
Yet their assassination targets were completely different.
Celestial Concealnt aid to assassinate Chen Tang, while that Ghost Concealnt killed the Moonlit Guard, inadvertently helping Chen Tang out.
Moreover, Ghost Concealnt took no further action. Could it be that she was scared off by Ming Yue Wanderer?
Why did Ming Yue Wanderer also leave without a word?
Chen Tang had a vague suspicion in his heart but couldn’t be certain.
"Let’s deal with the bodies first."
Chen Tang found a stack of silver notes on Feng Boyi, but unfortunately, they were from Celestial Cauldron Continent, useless in Nanxia.
However, there were a few taels of broken silver, considered as hard currency.
Chen Tang pocketed the silver, carried Feng Boyi’s body to the riverbank, found a large stone, tied it with the body, and sank it to the bottom of Celestial Pot River.
The boat captain Old Lu was a middle-aged man with dark skin, wearing a sweatband on his head, wide palms, and thick knuckles. Seeing Chen Tang and Ye Yushi approaching, he stood at the bow of the boat and waved.
As Chen Tang was about to board the boat, he felt sothing and looked back.
In the darkness, two figures were rapidly approaching.
Chen Tang recognized them, frowned slightly, and said, "You go on the boat first, I’ll follow shortly."
Ye Yushi assud Chen Tang could handle it, so he said nothing and quickly boarded the boat.
Chen Tang went to et the two figures in the darkness.
The newcors, a man and a woman, walked side by side like a golden boy and jade girl, very pleasing to the eye. They were Murakumo Kyo and Amaterasu Chizuru, who had both lost to Chen Tang in the martial arts contest.
"What brings you two here?"
Seeing that Murakumo Kyo and Amaterasu Chizuru were not accompanied by anyone else, Chen Tang put away so of his hostility and asked.
These two had internal injuries from the contest; instead of recuperating at ho, why did they co here?
"Could we have a word privately?"
Murakumo Kyo suddenly asked.
With only three people here, why the mystery?
Chen Tang scoffed inwardly but did not refuse, stepping aside with Murakumo Kyo.
"So, you’ve co to seek revenge?"
Chen Tang inquired.
Murakumo Kyo and Yang Ying’Er were engaged and rumored to be getting married after the martial arts contest.
Yang Ying’Er died at Chen Tang’s hands; it was only natural for Murakumo Kyo to seek revenge.
"Officially, it’s for revenge."
Murakumo Kyo smiled slightly and said, "But in reality, it’s to give thanks."
"Thanks for what?"
Chen Tang was briefly stunned. Looking at Murakumo Kyo’s expression, an absurd idea sprang to mind, and he asked, "Thank for killing Yang Ying’Er?"
"You’re a smart man."
Murakumo Kyo chuckled again.
Chen Tang tentatively asked, "Between you two..."
"I didn’t like her, but due to family pressure, I had to keep up appearances, though I was actually quite tired of it."
Murakumo Kyo said, "Brother Hetai’s punch was a liberation."
"Uh..."
Chen Tang was montarily speechless.
He continued, "Then why did you act so devastated during the contest, to the point of exacerbating your internal injury and fainting on the spot?"
"Naturally, it was all an act."
Murakumo Kyo shrugged slightly and said, "I didn’t like her, but I had to perform. If I didn’t faint, with everyone watching, what would I do? Seek revenge? That would be suicide."
Having a sudden realization, Chen Tang asked, "That mouthful of blood you spat..."
"In a play, you have to play the whole role."
Murakumo Kyo extended his tongue, showing the clear wound on it, and said, "I bit my tongue hard and spat out that blood."
"Talented indeed."
Chen Tang thought to himself.
No wonder, back then, he felt sothing was off.
Reflecting now, it dawned on him that the bright red blood Murakumo Kyo spat was different from the dark red of internal injuries.
At that mont, they were so close that Chen Tang noticed the subtle difference.
From the audience’s distant seats, it was hardly discernible, and no one would care enough to analyze Murakumo Kyo’s blood color.
Murakumo Kyo’s act not only portrayed deep feelings but also cleared himself completely.
"Why tell all this?"
Chen Tang asked.
"If I don’t share this with soone, I’ll feel pent up."
Murakumo Kyo said, "You’re about to leave the Celestial Cauldron Continent for Divine Land and have no ties here, so you’re the safest to tell."
Seeing Murakumo Kyo so frank, Chen Tang found it hard to comnt.
Still, why did he have a feeling of being used...
Squinting slightly, Chen Tang asked, "Is this your way of borrowing a knife to kill?"
"No, no, no."
Murakumo Kyo saw Chen Tang’s displeased face and quickly waved his hands, explaining, "I never encouraged her to trouble you. Before entering the contest, it didn’t occur to that I would lose."
"She sought her own death; it’s no fault of mine."
Suddenly curious, Chen Tang asked, "Yang Ying’Er was quite attractive and well-born. Why didn’t you like her?"
"I just didn’t like her, no particular reason."
Murakumo Kyo replied.
Looking at Amaterasu Chizuru not far away, Chen Tang felt a gossiping curiosity and asked, "You and Amaterasu Chizuru are...?"
"No."
Murakumo Kyo shook his head, "I don’t like her either."
A peculiar taste?
Chen Tang thought to himself.
At this mont, Murakumo Kyo suddenly lifted his head, looked at Chen Tang with a teasing smile, and said maliciously, "Actually, I am sowhat curious about you, Brother Hetai..."
Alert, Chen Tang took a half-step back, wary.
"Haha, just joking!"
Murakumo Kyo laughed heartily.
Unexpectedly, using this thod to regain face did provide relief.
Murakumo Kyo glanced sideways and softly said, "In this afternoon’s fight, Chizuru may have developed a Heart Demon. I ask you to help soothe her."
With that, Murakumo Kyo cupped his hands in farewell, not stopping as he turned and left.
Heart Demon?
Chen Tang didn’t quite understand.
Approaching Amaterasu Chizuru, Chen Tang asked, "Did you need sothing from ?"
"Mr. Murong, I have a question I hope you’ll answer."
Amaterasu Chizuru, with a sowhat bewildered expression, asked, "Are our Celestial Cauldron Continent’s Martial Arts truly as worthless as garbage? Is there any point in cultivating like this?"
So, Murakumo Kyo’s ntion of a Heart Demon was about this.
Seeing Amaterasu Chizuru’s state, it could be said that her Dao Heart was broken...
