Marquis Kayleigh was stopped in her tracks when she heard Ace’s words, and her eyes narrowed dangerously, clearly not believing any words Ace just said, yet her rational side won out over her instincts.

The main reason she stopped was that she still believed she had Ace under her control, and he couldn’t escape, no matter what tricks he pulled.
