"Brother Chen, you're really amazing," WeiWei licked her lips, her red pupils glinting mysteriously as she finished slipping on her white robe. "WeiWei has sothing else to handle tonight. So, let's do this again soti, shall we?"

Without waiting for Bubai's response, she turned and disappeared into the dark forest, leaving the slightly pale Bubai standing there, still trying to process the bizarre tryst. "She let off so easily tonight? If it's only this much every night, then I certainly can-"

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Bubai decided that escaping the farm was more urgent than deciphering the reasons of WeiWei's actions. He didn't want to leave his fate under her whim… even if it was very pleasurable to do so.

It didn't take long for Bubai to return to the vicinity of his hut. When he pushed open the door, Bubai instantly frowned.

Cautiously examining his dark, modest room, Bubai's sharp eyes imdiately caught the subtle signs of intrusion.

The hay he purposefully scattered on the ground had been disturbed, hinting at an uninvited visitor.

Entering the room and closing the door behind him, Bubai's expression darkened. "Sloppy work. Definitely not a professional," he muttered to himself, eyeing the slightly disheveled surroundings.

His mind began to churn with suspicions. "One of the workers, perhaps? But why single out? Are they just trying to make trouble for ... or were they instructed by soone else?"

WeiWei's face flashed in his thoughts, and Bubai's frown deepened. "Could she be the one behind this? Searching for sothing specific, or… to confirm sothing?

Bubai felt cold inside. It seems he still wasn't careful enough.

The next day.

Bubai's energy almost fully recovered after a night of cultivation, and he stepped out from his hut, lightly rotating his hips to ease the remaining soreness.

However, a quick scan of the farm drew his attention to a crowd of workers gathered in the distance, their faint panicked voices reaching his ears. As he walked over, their anxious chatter beca clearer.

"Demon! It must be a demonic cultivator!"

"Who knows, it might be an evil spirit!"

"This is already the second life... this farm is not safe! We need to talk to Manager Qin! No, we need to report to the bureau in Ling City!"

Bubai tapped Old Liu's shoulder, causing the man to jump with a light squeak of horror.

Monts later, Old Liu, realizing it was Bubai, scowled with a mix of irritation and fear. "Again! Xiao Chen, don't tap my shoulder next ti, almost sent to et the King of Hell."

Bubai chuckled, rubbing the back of his head with an honest smile. "Haha, well, it's not like you to be like this. What happened, Old Liu?"

Old Liu stared at Bubai suspiciously, questioning, "Where were you yesterday night?"

Bubai tilted his head slightly, offering his prepared excuse, "Guarding the forest then slept for the rest of the night. Why?"

Old Liu rolled his eyes, his thoughts quickly churning. Seeming to find nothing, he shook his head, sighing as he patted Bubai on the shoulder. "See for yourself."

Then, he picked up his hoe and walked away. "Choi, unlucky... I shouldn't have renewed the contract..."

"This old tir isn't simple to be able to survive in a city of cultivators for so long." Bubai thought to himself as he pushed through the crowd of pale-faced workers, reaching the front to finally lay eyes on a corpse on the ground which caused his eyes to narrow.

The strangeness of this corpse caused his heart to palpate.

Unlike Ah Niu's bloody, scorched one, this one resembled a dried husk, as if all life and water had been drained from it. Scrutinizing the man's face for a bit, Bubai barely recognized him to be Wu Gou!

Bubai's mind raced as he quickly made an association. When there's sothing evil...

"It couldn't be her... right?" Bubai felt a chill, looking up and scanning the farm.

And then, there she was - WeiWei, observing them from afar, with an air of innocence that seed to mask sothing more sinister.

Bubai's heart skipped a beat when their eyes locked. A playful smile seed to montarily grace WeiWei's lips as she licked them, causing his heart to race – this ti not from arousal but fear.

However, in the blink of an eye, the playful face was replaced by WeiWei's scared, pale face, as if it was just an illusion.

Panic gripped Bubai as he turned around, pushing through the crowd, putting distance between himself and WeiWei's unsettling gaze.

Yesterday, he still had the thoughts of eating soft rice, but now… he didn't want Wu Gou's end to be his!

Suppressing his fear and maintaining a facade of grim determination to fit in with the rest, he returned to his field, pretending to hoe as his mind churned with worry.

Mid-day.

Manager Qin returned, accompanied by a new worker.

However, any joy at the settling the previous murder case quickly dissipated as Manager Qin's flat smile turned stiff when he saw the new corpse.

From afar, Bubai still noticed the tremble in the middle-aged man's body as if he recognized the cause behind the strange death.

Barking orders, Manager Qin quickly dispersed the crowd, sending them to work.

Then, Manager Qin, demonstrating hurried yet experienced movents, skillfully stuffed Wu Gou's corpse in a sack. This ti, he barely spoke words of comfort to the 'timid' WeiWei, and without much delay, he rushed off towards Ling City once more, his steps much more hurried than before.

Bowing his head, Bubai honestly resud his work, the hoe habitually cutting through the soil, his thoughts churning internally.

But his concentration soon wavered, finding himself staring at the familiar dainty feet that stopped beside him. Looking up, WeiWei blinked mischievously, her eyes locking onto his.

"Manager Qin has permitted to interrogate each of you one by one. Chen Bubai, please co with for interrogation," she declared, her voice carrying a note of authority.

Old Liu, in the midst of handing-off Ah Niu's field to the new worker, looked over with a pale face.

Bubai's grip on his hoe tightened montarily before tossing the hoe to the ground.

Heck, if she wants to play this ga, he'll play with her.

Bubai's trademark honest smile arose on his face as he rubbed the back of his head. "Okay, Miss WeiWei, where to?"

A beautiful smile blood on WeiWei's face as she turned, heading towards Manager Qin's residence with a skip in her steps. Bubai followed.

Passing through the small square courtyard of Manager Qin's residence, Bubai followed WeiWei's footsteps, puzzled by the unexpected detour.

Instead of heading to Manager Qin's study, they ventured into side rooms until Bubai found himself in a surprisingly well-furnished bedroom.

Two mahogany chairs faced the entrance with a tea table in between, and through an ornate archway was the bed chamber, consisting mainly of a wooden bed with a layer of wool blanket unrolled on top of it.

Strangely out of place, a rope dangled from the ceiling in front of the bed, catching Bubai's attention.

Before he could process his surroundings further, the wooden door with paper windows creaked shut behind him. Then, he felt a warm, soft body press against his back, and two slender arms wrapped around his waist.

At the sa ti, WeiWei's pitiful voice reached his ears, "Brother Chen..."

Taking a deep breath, Bubai's initial panic subsided as the familiar fragrance of WeiWei perated his nose, oddly calming his turbulent heart. After a mont of hesitation, he questioned, "Why?"

"Why what?" WeiWei replied innocently, her hands naughtily roaming over his robes.

Turning around within WeiWei's embrace, Bubai stared into her eyes, searching for answers. "Wu Gou."

"Ah." WeiWei's arms tightened slightly, and tears seed to well up in her eyes as she buried her face against his chest. "You an him? Isn't it all for Brother Chen?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

"For ?" Bubai felt a wave of bewildernt. What does Wu Gou's death got to do with him?

"Hmm. That bad man… he saw sothing he shouldn't have seen."

Sothing he shouldn't have… Bubai suddenly recalled his tryst in the forest.

"You an-" Bubai began, but WeiWei's affirmative "Hmm." cut him off.

Looking up with watery eyes, WeiWei bit her lips, revealing the sordid details, "That dirty man actually used it to threaten WeiWei, wanting to break WeiWei and Brother Chen's relationship to Manager Chen. WeiWei was weak and couldn't fight back, so she could only agree to his conditions, letting the dirty man soil her. But who knew…"

WeiWei paused, licking her lips, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Who knew that he would dry up so fast after one ti. So weak, unlike Brother Chen! Really! WeiWei didn't an to, it was just an accident."

WeiWei blinked her eyes playfully, "Brother Chen won't bla WeiWei, will you?"

Understanding the full story, Bubai's lips twitched with a mix of emotions.

He couldn't say Wu Gou didn't deserve it. If he hadn't let his lower body do the thinking, and honestly reported to Manager Qin, he might still be alive…

Or not. Under this demoness's watch, he might not even get the chance to report.

Locking eyes with WeiWei who silently stared at him with watery eyes, waiting for his answer as if seeking reassurance, Bubai knew the threat in her words was clear. Unless he wanted to turn into a dried husk, he could only answer in one way.

"No, how could I bla you, WeiWei," he responded with a smile, soothing her by gently petting her head.

"Hehehe," WeiWei giggled charmingly, burying her face against Bubai's chest and sniffing his scent. "WeiWei knew Brother Chen would understand."

Bubai maintained his facade, his mind quickly processing the tangled web of dialogue choices he should choose next.

However, WeiWei's next question caught him off guard.

Taking a couple steps back, WeiWei clasped her hands behind her back, "Brother Chen, you won't think WeiWei is dirty after being used so many tis, right?"

Firmly, Bubai replied with a straight face, "No."

"Hmm, Brother Chen is the best!" WeiWei did a twirl and cheerfully skipped toward the bed.

Turning back towards Bubai, her mischievous smile held a hint of invitation as she grabbed a black strip of cloth and clasped the dangling rope in her other hand.

"Then, Brother Chen, will you help WeiWei play a ga?"
