With another heave, Bubai tucked Old Liu's lifeless body into the sack. Glancing at the old man's wrinkly monkey-face with wide-opened eyes, Bubai gently reached out, closing them.
The old fritter was smart, seeming to have guessed sothing of the situation from the minor clues. Regardless, Bubai could still tolerate him. They were both fellows who knew how to play dumb.
But the poor old man still couldn't escape the scrutiny of the demoness… and unlike Bubai, she has shown no toleration for anything getting in between them.
The interrogation was a trap she set up, his tryst with her serving as the evidence to fuel Manager Qin's anger, and the result… Poor Old Liu was made into the scapegoat, killed with a borrowed knife.
Tying up the sack, Bubai let out a sigh and stood up, staring down at the pouch of grain he found on Old Liu's body. In the end, he resisted his greed and walked into Manager Qin's residence.
Tuk. Tuk. "Co in." Bubai heard Manager Qin's gruff invitation.
Pushing open the door, he stepped into Manager Qin's study, finding the man engrossed in sifting through a stack of papers- the worker's contracts.
Walking to the desk, Bubai placed the pouch on Manager Qin's desk. "Boss Qin, I found these on Liu Dafan's body."
Manager Qin looked up, nodding in approval as he reached out to pocket the pouch. "Haha… I knew I could trust Xiao Chen to do the job right. This is why I will always reserve a spot for a man like you under my wings."
Inwardly, Bubai didn't react much to Manager Qin's offer, but outwardly he presented a silly smile as he rubbed the back of his head. "I'll listen to Boss Qin… Then, Boss Qin, when will we head to Ling City?"

"Oh?" Manager Qin raised a brow, suppressing his anger as he picked up his cup of tea and took a sip. "Tell , Xiao Chen. I hope you can convince , or else..."
Bubai took a couple of steps closer, looked around sneakily, before he whispered, "Boss Qin, delaying may not be good for us. The night is long, the dreams are many. Rember Ah Niu... and Wu Gou... if Liu Dafan's corpse…"
Manager Qin's hand stilled in the air, his brows furrowing in thought. After a mont, he set down his tea cup with a darkened face, understanding the situation.
He still didn't have a single clue regarding the demonic cultivator making trouble on his farm, and he wasn't sure if they had left.
Although he could attempt to prevent it by keeping the corpse in his residence, but isn't that just inviting the wolf into his own ho? He still hasn't lived long enough!

"Hahaha!" Manager Qin laughed before his gaze trailed over to Bubai, who had his head bowed. "Well, it's good if you are honest. I like obedient ones the most. Now, let's quickly complete this matter and hurry back."
Manager Qin then turned, strutting forward while embracing WeiWei's waist. Behind, Bubai looked up, his eyes deep as he watched WeiWei's leaving back.
Manager Qin didn't seem to have noticed, but WeiWei's chasing speed, inadvertently revealed earlier, didn't lose out to the late stage Qi-refiner's rushing pace!
Shifting the sack into a more comfortable position, Bubai silently followed the duo towards Ling City.
It seems he couldn't escape the demoness's Five Finger mountain this ti… unless, there is an unexpected situation.
