Chapter 2620: Chapter 1443: An Unexpected Appearance
In a hall filled with khaki and vibrant textures, two groups were locked in a tense standoff, with an extrely dangerous aura rapidly perating the air.
Under the reflection of the Light Crystal Stones embedded in the hall, one side was none other than the formidable Catman Clan of the desert, much like the Masked Man, while the other side consisted of tall and strong mbers of the Werewolf Tribe, evidently from the sa lineage as Vice Leader Lucas.
Furthermore, from the cat paw emblems decorating the hall, it was clear that this was the territory of the Catman Clan of the desert.
“Desert Catn, do you really intend to defy the orders of Lord Lucas, the alliance leader?”
The scar-faced werewolf in the lead let out a cold snort and said sternly, “The cost of defying the alliance leader is not sothing your insignificant tribe can bear! Lord Lucas has already said that those who defy will be utterly eradicated along with their entire force!”
“You must understand that compared to the entire Desert Alliance, your little strength is hardly worth ntioning!”
Hearing the scar-faced werewolf’s threat, many of the desert Catman strongn gulped involuntarily, their deanor visibly weakened, and even their erect ears drooped.
What the opponent said was true, even within the alliance, the strength of the desert Catman Clan was quite limited, unable to compare to the powerful dusa and Moon Demon Wolf Clan, let alone confront the entire alliance.
“How about this? Now respond to Lord Lucas’s call to send troops to the Desolate Fortress to bathe the Emperor’s land in blood, perhaps Lord Lucas may still be lenient.”
Noticing the Catman strongn’s weakening aura, the scar-faced werewolf in the lead said arrogantly, “This is your last chance; don’t be ungrateful. Otherwise, when the Grand Army arrives, you and your kin will be slain on the spot!”
However, the scar-faced werewolf didn’t notice that in the center of the panicked Catman strongn, there was still a formidable-looking middle-aged Catman with a firm expression and perfectly straight khaki cat ears. This was none other than Lannis, the Clan Leader of the Catman Clan.
“Your Excellency, please convey to the Vice Leader that we will not deploy until we have clarified the whereabouts of the Lord Leader.”
Lannis’s expression was calm as he again refused the proposal.
“Lord Clan Leader, are you referring to the forr leader?”
The scar-faced werewolf squinted his eyes slightly and sneered, “I stated from the beginning that the forr leader, after leaving the Shadow Market, was ambushed by that Emperor of the Human Race, and most of the accompanying elders and strongn perished on the spot.”
“And the new leader, Lord Lucas, has gathered a Grand Army to confront the Desolate Fortress as a revenge for the forr leader. What reason do you have not to send troops?”
The scar-faced werewolf’s voice grew increasingly impatient, and he coldly said, “What are you trying to do by defying the new leader, Lord Lucas?”
At this point, the scar-faced werewolf’s voice took on a playful tone as he continued, “Lord Clan Leader, I heard that your beloved daughter also perished in this ambush by the Emperor of the Human Race; don’t you want revenge?”
“Of course I do, but I want to find out who the true mastermind is.”
Lannis’s expression noticeably fluctuated, yet he still attempted to maintain calmness as he spoke.
“Lord Clan Leader, are you questioning the words of the new leader?”
The scar-faced werewolf’s expression instantly darkened as he shouted coldly, “All of this was witnessed firsthand by the new leader and Her Majesty the new Queen of dusa. Do their authorities not hold enough weight for you to believe?”
“But I really can’t think of a reason why the Emperor of the Human Race would ambush the leader.”
Facing the other’s aggressive questioning, Lannis remained unruffled, calmly saying, “Furthermore, the leader’s body has yet to be found, and the Vice Leader took over power imdiately, with the dusa throne swiftly changing hands. Isn’t that a bit too hasty?”
Upon hearing this, the other Catman elders wore expressions of helplessness and anxiety.
As the Clan Leader of the Catman Clan, Lannis’s straightforwardness and stubbornness were well-known within the clan, having always managed the tribe with order. But given the current situation, it was evident that it wasn’t the ti to stubbornly hold one’s ground.
After all, everything happened too suddenly, just as Lannis had put it, the Emperor of the Human Race had no reason whatsoever to ambush the leader; it would be akin to setting himself on fire.
Thus, it was clear that there must be more to the story.
This was sothing that many of the other forces that had already deployed troops might have also sensed to varying degrees, at least in their suspicions.
However, with Lucas now taking up the mantle of leadership, and with full support from the new dusa Queen, along with the backing of the Moon Demon Wolf Clan and dusa, two of the most powerful forces, even if other forces harbored doubts, they had no choice but to bow down.
“Clan Leader of the Catn, it seems you are determined to go against the new leader.”
The scar-faced werewolf had clearly lost his patience and promptly pulled out a golden token from his chest, shouting, “The new leader has ordered that if Lannis refuses to obey, other Catman Clan strongn may execute him, and the one who succeeds in killing Lannis will be recognized by the leader and beco the next Clan Leader of the Catn!”
As the scar-faced werewolf’s words brimd with murderous intent, other werewolf strongn growled with bared fangs, crouching low, clearly preparing for an attack, while those Catman elders showed no reaction, as if they hadn’t heard anything.
